DELTA PHI UPSILON FRATERNITY PARTICIPATES IN GLSEN NATIONAL DAY OF SILENCE
Houston, TX – 4/11/2011 – Delta Phi Upsilon Fraternity today announced its upcoming participation in the National Day of Silence sponsored by the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network (GLSEN), to be observed on April 15, 2011. In announcing the event to the fraternity’s membership, national president Larrel Green stated reminded them that “As gay men, many of us have, at some point in our lives, been on the receiving end of teasing, name-calling or outright harassment. On April 15, I ask that each of you pledge to remain silent for the day as a form of protest against these senseless acts.” The National Day of Silence is an annual GLSEN sponsored event where hundreds of thousands of students nationwide take a vow of silence to bring attention to anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in their schools.
