ensemble Conspirare in a riveting performance of Considering Matthew Shepard – his musical response to the tragic death of a young gay man who has become an American symbol
for hope and empowerment. This major new work for chorus, soloists and chamber ensemble sets to music a rich variety
of texts by librettist Michael Dennis Browne, poets Lesléa Newman, Rumi and many others, leading listeners from anguish to understanding.

Engaging melodies, rich harmonies and orchestral textures describe Rachmaninoff ’s Symphony No. 3, which came 30
years after his second symphony. Italian conductor Daniele Rustioni will lead the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra through the nostalgic Symphony No. 3 and Respighi’s
symphonic poem Fountains of Rome. Cellist Julian Steckel –
with “technical skill, sensitivity, charisma and intuition” – will take on Shostakovich’s challenging Concerto No. 1.

with English supertitles, this humorous and hopeful retelling transports opera-goers to a more innocent moment in time

wide array of musical ensembles performing holiday favorites, from Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You” to the traditional “Hanukkah, Oh Hanukkah.” Sunday’s one-hour
family concert warmly welcomes children with Santa and his elves giving sweet treats.

In addition to a cafÊ, classrooms and rehearsal spaces, the performance area of the center features three main halls: the spacious 1,400-seat Kresge Auditorium, where patrons enjoy attending our endowed Green Guest Artist concerts, the Ubben Lecture series, the school’s Holiday Gala, Music of the 21st Century and large-ensemble concerts; the 400-seat Moore Theatre, home to the annual DePauw Theatre and DePauw Opera productions; and the intimate Thompson Recital Hall, ideal for chamber works.
