Abstract The present paper is aimed to examine the gender difference in emotional intelligence of prospective teachers. . A sample of 44 B.Ed. teacher trainees selected randomly from Doon International college of Education, Sirmour for the present study. The researchers used Mangal emotional intelligence Scale to measure emotional intelligence of B.Ed. teacher trainees. Data collected were analyzed statistically by t test. The findings of the study revealed that there is no gender difference in emotional intelligence of prospective teachers. Introduction Education is the process of human enlightenment and empowerment for the achievement of a letter and higher quality of life. Education is the key to national prosperity and welfare. In the development of a country, education plays a vital role. Emotional intelligence refers to an ability to recognize the meanings of emotion and their relationships and to reason and problem-solve on the basis of them. Emotional intelligence is involved in the capacity to perceive emotions, assimilate emotion-related feelings, understand the information of those emotions, and manage them. Researchers investigated dimensions of emotional intelligence by measuring related concepts, such as social skills, interpersonal competence, psychological maturity and emotional awareness, long before the term "emotional intelligence‟ came into use Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize our emotions, understand what they are telling you, and realize how your emotions affect others.
