Re-Framing a Reading Room Second year studio: Spring 2021
Collaborative Living | Living on the Edge
First year studio: Fall 2020 Instructor: Andrew Kovacs With Schindler House architectural ideas, main goal was to find a way of how to show those ideas in different ways in our designs. This pair grouped design work allowed us to work cooperatively, which encouraged us to think about "What is Collaborative Living?". Focus of my design, which is the building on the left part of the site, was reflecting Schindler House plan of how different rooms are connected in to a single form. Because my building can be only accesible through the bridge crossing the canyon, it gives more privacy to the user. I emphasized those privacy on the outdoor space with private plaza surrounded by fence, or fire place that is hidden by the trees. However, privacy blends into public space in the canyon side with the glass railing on the outside, and more windows on the house located towards the canyon. These opened privacy points towards to the bridge, where all the colalborative activities are happening by both families living in two sides of the canyon.

On Perspective: Spatial Narratives | Library by Lake
First year studio: Spring 2021 Instructor: Scott Uriu This project was about extracting lines and surfaces from the space near us, and developing those lines and surfaces into a new space. This process included extruding stills from the video of the space, analysing and extracting designs from that stills, then make new architecture from those. The program I chose for the new building was library in a park. I first worked with a landscape where one side has a lake and flat area, and a small hill across the road. I have put bleachers on the each side of the site. One is pointing towards the lake, and other one is dug under the groud, work as the main entrace of the building. Extracted designs were scaled up and down, and put toghether to make a pathway on the air to connect the two main seating and stairs parts. holse were placed on the roof, allowing the natural light inside the buildings, even to the underground reading room. the complexity of the exterior and interioir balances out the simplicity of the lanscape where the building sits, harmonizng the overall view of the project.

Super Future | The Wave
Second year studio: Fall 2021 Instructor: Rick Gooding Main goal of Project 3 was think about how we can reform this ditch made by unconstructed freeway 710 site in Pasadena. on my slot number four, first aim was to connect both side of the city by putting connecting elements: curved bridge on and landscape piece over the ditch. On the one side, tower was placed as the landmark of the city, and nine mass was put on the other side under the landscape piece. Two strips of landscape part continues from the mass to the tower, connecting two sides with wavy building. Tower is another form of the wave going on the vertical direction, while landscape building is wavy on horizontal direction. To emphasize the ditch, where and how this project began, various sizes of supports were put, and it also works as a support for landscape piece over the ditch.

Re-Framing a Reading Room | Twin Crown
Second year studio: Spring 2021 Instructor: Farnoosh Fallon Rafaie
16
This project was to design a reading room on Los Angeles State Historic Park. The process was to get the chracteristics of two joints: Noan Tervajarvi joint and Kawai-tsugite joint, then mpodify the joints based on those chracteristics, and use the chracters into the reading room design. For my reading room, I used modified Kawai-tsugite joint, with the character of versatile, for the main structure, and modified Noan Tervajarvi, with the chracter of compatible, for the supplementary of the main form. I made a module with Kawai-tsugite joint, then made a box out of the module, making a pattern of the grid. Then I separated one fourth part of the whole box, then moved the small box on the other corner of the main box. Small room is for group studying area and Big space is for individual studying area with bookstack. On the small exterior spaces made by those rooms, I have put seating and stairs for users to purposfully come to this structure and enjoy with the view of the park and nature. Each crown made with Noam Tervajarvi joints were place top of each individual and group study area to highlight the usage of each room as well as the whole strucure on the site.
