Goodbye 2019...

Hello 2020!

As we approach the last few days of 2019, it is a great time for us all to reflect on the past year - and what a year it was! There were many ups, and some downs, and as we move into 2020, we will work really hard to ensure that we apply the lessons learnt this year to build our business. We grew the Medox division to cover the Wellington and Palmerston North regions, and are looking at new Drake locations for 2020. Drake NZ was shortlisted as a finalist in the Corporate Social Responsibility category for the NZ RCSA Awards, and Medox’s Gavin Rolton was named Employee of the Year at the Attitude Awards. We have digitised our application forms, our public folders, and are working on implementing a new timesheet and rostering software for our temporary workforce. We are also working on developing industry-focused verticals for our permanent recruitment business, and growing our DRS staff across the country, along with our drive for more CRMs, led by Paul Rosengrave. Let 2020 be the year of a digital revolution, as well as a more sales-focused business with a push for perm. As Bill always says - ‘Up, Up and Away’!

No description means no points. ✓ A C&I with more than one person from the client’s business in the same meeting counts as one (1) C&I, unless each client attendee is from a different service line or department. ✓ If you attend a C&I with a Drake colleague, each of you can count it as one C&I. Remember to include a detailed description!

NATIONAL SALES UPDATE - Paul Rosengrave

December is month 3 for me at Drake - giving me time to prioritise the main challenges and opportunities that exist. The purpose of my work at Drake in 2020 is going to be focused on sales (of course), but more specifically, building up a sales team across the country, while developing appropriate sales behaviours and culture around that team.

HERE’S WHAT WE’RE GOING TO ACHIEVE TOGETHER OVER THE COMING 12 MONTHS: » The creation of a new CRM sales team across as many Drake branches as possible: • 2x new CRMs in Christchurch, 1x in Wellington, 1x in Palmy & 1x in Hamilton ASAP - with others following soon. • These salespeople will complement the existing CRMs in Tauranga & Auckland, who will continue to develop their CATMs – working on old, existing and new business. » The use of new roles to drive sales activity (Myra as an appointment-setter or prospector, for example), and the expansion of such roles across NZ. » Developing a culture of sales activity and behaviours, with the resulting focus on creating consistent sales pipelines. » Expanding our use of sales tools to help build and plan our activity – such as the LinkedIn Sales Navigator licenses

» Aligning internal and external training with the growth and development of salesfocused roles. • I have recently completed Challenger Sales and P3 training in Australia with Marjie Best, and this will be rolled out across New Zealand in early 2020 » Promoting a wider range of Drake solutions across a broader selection of industries, arming our salespeople with a more powerful tool kit and skill set. » Developing a more strategically focused plan of action for our largest National Accounts, with plans of action based around both national and regional hubs. » The rollout and implementation of a comprehensive national sales plan to complement our marketing at national and regional levels.

Yes, there’s a lot here, but it’s all very much achievable over the course of the year. As an aspirational longer-term goal, all of these action points will help Drake get back to being the market leader in NZ throughout the recruitment industry.

✓ Christine Versey (Palmerston North) and Sid Wilbore were married on 31 Oct 2019. ✓ Laura Lewis (Masterton) and Conor Lewis were married on 30th November 2019. Steph Burling (Masterton) was enlisted as Flower Woman for Laura’s wedding and did a mighty fine job by all accounts. ✓ We are over the moon to hear that our lovely Alex Good (Perm Consultant, Albany) is expecting a baby boy next March! The Albany team were forced to put aside their electric pink décor (for one day only) as they celebrated Alex’s big announcement.

✓ Thanks to overwhelming support from the team at Drake, Jono Britto grew a magnificent Mo, ran 51kms during Movember and raised $620 for men’s health. ✓ As a thank you for all the hard work our candidates have put in this year, Drake Medox organised an end-of-year Family Day at the Auckland Zoo on Sunday 17th November. ✓ Our very own Gavin Rolton won the Attitude Employee of the Year Award at the Attitude Awards this year!

MARKETING UPDATE Remarketing & Google Adwords We have continued to invest in our Google Adwords campaigns from both a client and candidate perspective. As a result of our increased investment and focus, we have increased the number of conversions by 690% since our June results! Our remarketing campaigns have also proven successful, bringing in a total of 43 client leads since it commenced in September, some of which were for multiple jobs.

Sustainability Commitment Over the past 18+ months, Drake New Zealand has been working on our sustainability mission, which includes our Go Green campaign – partnering with Trees that Count to plant a tree for every permanent placement made, and providing sustainable gifts to our clients and candidates to help reduce the personal waste of our supply chain. But sustainability is so much more than just going green, and we have placed a larger focus on our social and human capital sustainability efforts as well, both internally, and in our wider community. Our initiatives are summarised in our new Sustainability Commitment document, which you can find on our sustainability page on the Drake website. Every little bit counts, and together, we can make a difference!

Google and Facebook Reviews We have recently created a landing page for each branch location (below is the link for Albany as an example), so that we can ask for online reviews for Facebook or Google. This will help to improve our star rating on our digital platforms.

VIEW AN EXAMPLE

Satisfaction Survey We recently sent out a satisfaction survey to all of the clients and candidates we have worked with in the last 12 months, to get feedback on their experience working with us. We received over 200 survey responses, and are compiling the data to look at ways to continuously improve. Watch this space for more info!

Technology Update Digital Forms We have had a successful trial run using our digital forms platform, Eversign. All of our Drake NZ candidate and client application forms have been digitised, and we are working through the MOJ Criminal Check forms at the moment. Yes, the Ministry of Justice approved our digital forms! Thank you to our test branches - we will roll out the digital forms to all branches nationally in early 2020. Temporary Workforce Management System For the past few months, a NZ project management group have been working behind the scenes to find a more versatile solution to replace Drake Online, which will also integrate with Bond. Special thanks to Lisa Armstrong, Elisha Hart, Maurice O’Brien, Jonathan Britto, Dinh Truong and Alexandra Tidy for their work on the project management team. We will have more updates for you in early 2020! NZ Intranet Goodbye, Public Folders, hello NZ Sharepoint! We have created an intranet for New Zealand, which houses all of our generic Marketing, Sales and HR documentation, as well as numerous other initiatives and details. We are really excited about this platform, so please have a look and let us know what else we should include!

Vroom Vroom! Check out our Drake car!

100% CLUB The 100% Club was held this year in Los Angeles. 11 of the NZ Medox team took part in the event, and what a week it was! From sightseeing to bowling, a hockey game and a Halloween party, we had an all-American experience of a lifetime!

What a wonderful trip, I think everyone will agree with me…simply amazing! Ice hockey at the Staples Centre and the sheer enthusiasm of the Americans towards the game, a huge highlight for me.”

- Jo Gill

The 100% club this year was a blast! Lot’s of familiar faces, so made it a fun catch up with friends.” -Brogan Milham

SPOTLIGHT ON CHRISTCHURCH BRANCH There’s been a fair bit of change over the last few weeks down south. Christchurch continues in its economic rebuild, with the economy growing at a good rate. New business opportunities are popping up monthly, making this an ideal time for Drake to be moving office in the new year. We will be moving to a brand-new central CBD location in February 2020, providing us with a chance to market ourselves to the business community – targeting not only our traditional clients in the “blue” space, but also re-establish ourselves as a key player in the white collar space as well.

A big welcome to Adem Manderovic, who has recently joined us as a CRM for Christchurch and the South Island. Adem has a strong sales and marketing background in both NZ and Australia. Congratulations to PJ Chapman on her new full-time, permanent position as a consultant. PJ says she’s “falling in love with recruiting”, so I think we’ve found the right team addition here. A special shout out to Sulami Lemana whose commitment to working for Medox at all times knows no limits – even during her holiday in Samoa! Lastly, we say farewell to Sarah Cobbold will be leaving the Drake family to explore new opportunities. Sarah’s last day will be on December 27th – please join me in wishing her all the very best for the future.
