What will be accomplished? This is your mission statement and includes:
Who (i.e., you)
SPECIFIC
What (e.g., meditation)
When (e.g., regularly)
Where (e.g., in the garden)
Why (e.g., to relax and calm the mind)
(M) MEASURABLE
How will you measure the achievement of your goal?
Subjective (e.g., rate how you feel out of 10; 10 = positive; 1 = negative)
Objective (e.g., amount of time spent meditating each day or week)
ACHIEVABLE
What resources do you need to achieve your goal?
Are these resources easy to access?
For example, downloading a meditation app onto your hand-held device can help with practicing meditation in the garden each day.
How does this goal relate to my broader life and values?
For example, the positive outcomes of regular meditation is related to my value of being a clam parent.
When would you like to achieve your goal?
Set a realistic date you want to achieve your goal, then set another date (mid-way) to review your progress. Setting dates can give you direction, motivation and keep you on track.
