A Message from THE EC

How fast things can change. A few days ago, we thought lockdown was a thing of the past and As we reflect on a 2020, we have faced challenges unlike any year before, but we have also been presented with opportunities. These opportunities could only be seized with the right attitude and willingness to get out of our comfort zones. One opportunity was going digital in our candidate registration process. By adopting the Eversign technology over lockdown, as well as our digital assessments, we were able to not only continue recruiting with no disruption (despite being in lockdown), but speed up the process. We also got comfortable in front of the camera by conducting remote interviews. We also set up the Boiler Room, to formalise project teams for each industry vertical that we specialise in. We held all staff calls 3x a week, facilitated by a different branch each time, which kept us connected to each other. We also implemented a weekly training schedule on a variety of subjects, and will continue to run that into 2021 and beyond, with your feedback on what training you would benefit from.

Our monthly Branch Wins meetings also allow us to connect as a national team. It is so important to celebrate our wins, no matter how big or small. We all inspire and motivate each other to achieve more. Although adverse events, much like this year, can be painful and difficult, we truly believe that it brought our organisation closer together. We communicate more internally and externally with our FSE’s and clients. As the year comes to an end, it fills us with a certain level of excitement that comes at this time of year. There is a lot to look forward to like summer, Christmas, spending time with friends and family and of course, putting 2020 behind us and starting a new year. We are looking forward to what 2021 will hold, and we know we can do great things by working together as a team.

Sincerely, EC Team

It’s summertime! And there is nothing better than relaxing in a nice sunny spot with a good book in hand. As we head into the holidays and 2021, here are a few helpful blog articles to review: How to reduce holiday stress CLICK HERE

Spotlight on... DRAKE MASTERTON

Steph and Laura achieved phenomenal growth this year. They focused on building a strong network and communicating effectively with clients and candidates and when problems arise, they carefully analysed them by breaking them down into bite-size chunks making it easier to tackle issues head on. IN THE COMMUNITY Our Masterton team are passionate about their community. Every chance they have, they get involved. From participating in UCOL events, being involved in the Chamber of Commerce, in schools, sport clubs, work events and even the local pub, they continue to build their connections and grow their brand presence. They build connections by taking the time to really listen and understand someone’s situation, gaining mutual respect and trust - the foundation for a long-lasting relationship. IT’S ALL ABOUT COMMUNICATION

STEPH BURLING & LAURA LEWIS 100% CLUB QUALIFIED

Their number one contributing factor to growth was communication. When talking to clients or candidates, they listened more than they talked, and asked questions to ensure they really understood the problem. They showed candidates how important they are to Drake and outlined their expectations. They also keep in regular contact and send out birthday emails - one candidate even inviting Steph & Laura to their BBQ! They believe that good relationships with candidates are the best form of marketing, because that leads to referrals. People trust referrals from friends and family more than they trust advertising so taking care of candidates is essential to growth.

Spotlight on... MEDOX HEALTH

This year has presented some difficult challenges for businesses, but with any challenge, it uncovers unique opportunities and hones your problem-solving skills. Our Medox Health team -Sanjana, Jo and Charlotte - worked together to secure several clients and projects over lockdown. DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION To fulfil these roles, the team worked together to implement a robust online recruitment process. Technology played a vital role in this. They quickly adopted the use of Eversign which made it easier to recruit online and became very comfortable with Zoom interviewing. This allowed them to recruit staff quickly and efficiently, while being remote.

PROJECTS SECURED DURING LOCKDOWN Through Geneva Healthcare, Medox Health recruited for Registered Nurses for Managed Isolation Facilities in Auckland on 24/7 shifts. Medox Health filled on average 4050 Registered Nurse shifts for MIF’s around Auckland Recruiting Tele-Triage Nurses for Health Line – Filling approximately 5-10 Registered Nurses for shifts

Recruiting Middlemore Visitor Screeners for 20 shifts per week on average

Recruiting Swabbing Nurses for Community Based Centres during the second Auckland lockdown. This was a project Medox Health worked on for Whanau Ora and Te Manu Aute Whare Oranga

IT’S ALL ABOUT COMMUNICATION A key part in their success was teamwork and communication. At their busiest time, during lockdown, they were getting inundated with applications from nurses wanting to help. It became clear they had to work together and communicate efficiently to place people quickly and compliantly. To manage this, they held regular meetings and kept each other up to date with FSEs. The team developed clearly defined roles and tasks yet were flexible and helped a team member if they were overloaded. They also communicated regularly with FSEs via online text, emails and phone calls and sent thank you gifts to candidates for working during lockdown. Thank you Sanajana, Jo and Charlotte for your hard work and dedication, you quickly adapted to a changing environment and showed determination and the ability to quickly problem solve, growing your business in challenging times.

Marketing Update Over the past few months there have been some notable marketing trends: CANDIDATE CAMPAIGNS It is a skills-short, candidate-tight market across New Zealand, and we are really feeling it in the Wairarapa, Palmerston North, Wellington & Auckland regions. To assist with finding great talent we have focused on attracting candidates through the following: ONLINE MARKETING 9 Google AdWords 9 Branch-Specific Landing Pages 9 Branch-Specific Ads 9 Regular Posting to Social Media 9 Sharing Job Posts to Local & Industry-Specific Groups 9 Online Competitions for Engagement OFFLINE MARKETING 9 Creating tear-away flyers for high traffic locations 9 Branch-Specific Ads for Publications Facebook groups have worked well with posting jobs. These can reach thousands of people, without any cost! If you would like to learn how to use this platform, please contact Marketing team to help set you up! CANDIDATE ATTRACTION & RETENTION The New Year is always a busy time with candidates looking for work, as people are looking for a fresh start. Our Candidate Attraction and Retention group are coming up with strategies for the New Year to show what makes Drake different. One opportunity we are exploring is using Fork Hoist Simulators for training and upskilling our FSE’s.

Here is a picture of Lisa trying the simulator out in Auckland. Exciting things are coming… Watch this space! FESTIVE SEASON CAMPAIGN From the end of October we have been promoting our Festive Season campaign, which supports businesses with flex or perm recruitment who have peak periods prior to Christmas. We advertised across social media, through e-blasts, and created a festive season landing page to capture details. DUAL BRAND ADVERTISEMENTS We are currently in the process of creating a branding campaign for Drake and Drake Medox to build their awareness in the Bay of Plenty region. We are creating ads that will be shown in bus stop shelters, bus backs and radio too. We look forward to showing you images of the ads live!
