Week #17 – 2024 Editorial
Dear Members,
This week I am back home in Cebu where the searing heat has also taken its toll, with the once lush vegetation now turning a shade of brown, a stark visual reminder of the intensity of the heat. It’s so hot that school has been suspended for weeks now. Some international school have continued to operate and others for only half days. Temperatures in parts of Bangladesh, China, India, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand have also been regularly exceeding 38 degrees Celsius this month.
In weeks prior I was in Thailand where an all-time record high for any time of year was set. Fortunately the water festival called Songkran leading up to the Thai new year was a refreshing experience. Songkran is a wild tradition in Thailand with people spraying and splashing water on each other along most major roads for up to a week depending on the region. See this video from a youtuber to understand what it’s like.
Our network Chairman is currently sailing on the high seas onboard mv ABB Vanessa. His current location is due West of Palawan en route to Soma, Japan where he is estimated to arrive in the second or third week of May.
Africa Regional Meeting
The upcoming in-person member meeting focused on Africa will be held on the 6-7 June, 2024 in Accra, Ghana. Here you can see the beautiful venue Labadi Beach Resort where the meeting will take place on the first day with a tour of Port of Tema on the second day.

Houston Lunch Meeting
In Houston we are also hosting a Lunch Meeting on the same day that the Breakbulk Americas Exhibition opens, on the 15th of October, 2024

With all of these opportunities to meet and a tight schedule four our Chairman we will hold the next Global Conference only in 2025, with more details to be announced at a later date.
