33 I Have A Dream A word from the heart of the editor.
Leading is being lead By: Steven Craig Semones II
ot to long ago I was having a conversation with a friend and he made the statement, “You have to keep the same spirit tonight as you continue.” It was a great night of worship, fellowship, and many great connections made at a Unite Night. I just simply said, “no, it isn’t keeping the same spirit because I don’t think that is our job, but I will give God everything I have in my preparation, all of my heart and I will let God be God.”
N
Do you ever try to conjure up something or feel like you have to make it happen. One thing I have learned is it has nothing to do with trying to call him down from heaven, because he is already there. I know there isn’t a day that goes by the he isn’t with me, and I know this because Jesus has given us all a comforter called the Holy Spirit. Problem is few want to let him lead, and many don’t realize that when you have genuine worship that is what God dwells in. There he can work because we aren’t trying to lead, but we are leading as we are lead. My mom made a statement that I will never forget, “son, if you don’t feel that song and mean it, then no one else will.”
DREAM
John 14:26-31 26“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. 27“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. 28“You heard that I said to you, ‘I go away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved Me, you would have rejoiced because I go to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29“Now I have told you before it happens, so that when it happens, you may believe. 30“I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me; 31but so that the world may know that I love the Father, I do exactly as the Father commanded Me. Get up, let us go from here.

It brings me to the Pointe of we must get back to Genuine Worship. I have been playing, traveling, and leading worship for over 15 years. I have played with many different worship bands and teams all over. Many different genres of worship and I have seen all kinds of leaders, styles, and heard many hearts about worship. Some very genuine and some not so much.

I have seen some worship leaders that where more focused on trying to be a rock star than just singing their heart and being exactly what God had put within them. Many that wanted to find there own unique voice in worship and writing but they always were more focused on trying to be someone else that they admired. I must say that there is nothing wrong with having musicians and other worship leaders that you look up to, admire, and love. But they are who they are because they have found there own voice in worship simply being them. The favor of God and the anointing can’t be conjured up or hyped down upon you. I see many leaders that try to be the best, set them selves apart from others, but they are doing it because they are more focused on a competition than just worshipping. We want to see an outpouring of his spirit just genuinely sing from your heart and God will always bless and touch the hearts of the people. One thing we must never forget, is that it is an honor to lead others into worship. I know when I worship, I just want others to see how great God is, and how he wants to be apart of their lives. How he is the healer, savior, friend, and protector. I know if I just give my genuine worship to God they will see a man that sings praises not to make a crowd go crazy or so I can brag to others of how God moved in the service. Instead, how they can see I am not just singing to sing but what I am singing about it real to me!
my church and I had the honor to being here drummer. She has taught me everything that I know. She always would tell me , “you can’t sing anything that you don’t believe.”
She always would tell me, “you can’t sing anything that you don’t believe.”
When I turned eighteen, I was about to go off to college, and it was New Years eve. I had to play for a event at a church in Lake City, SC. I remember that night so well because a few days later my mom had a stroke at work that was caused from a calcium deposit from a aneurism. I remember that day so well because that morning like every morning she got up to tell me, she loved me and she was going to work. I remember saying, “I love you.” and rolling back over to get some sleep before I went to work. That day forever changed my life. The doctors said she wouldn’t make it through the surgery and if she did than she wouldn’t be the same. She came through the surgery and did the opposite of everything the doctors said she would never be able to do. It turned into eleven years of doctors, seizures, another aneurism, a surgery she wasn’t supposed to make it through, and also lead to a divorce between my parents. From the strain of everything and also from loosing site of God being the center of their marriage.
Many asked me how can you sing, laugh, and speak with such passion about God after all you have been through. There is a song by Mercy Me I would always sing, “Praise you Worship has always been a large part of through this storm.” God challenged my life, and I would not change that for me, you can’t stand before others and nothing in the world. When I was growing sing something if you don’t believe! I believe and I will forever Praise! up my mom was the worship leader at

ome guy named Bob is singing a song called The Times They Are A-Changin’ on the record player here in the room as I type up these thoughts. It echoes along the walls and glides across our old wooden floors.

This home we are renting is vintage. Bob is vintage. Record players and vinyls are vintage. Lately I have fallen so much in love with this method of enjoying music. In fact, many others are falling in love with vinyl LP’s all over again. The age of digitally over produced, over compressed, and pristine recordings have left so many listeners wanting a more true sound. We could go on and on about the differences between classic and modern recordings. But I want to focus on the things that I feel have

actually enriched my life by engaging in entertainment via the record player. The way it has challenged me to be present in my worship and present in day-to-day interactions with Jesus, my family, and community. Vinyl records and record players require us to be a part of the process. We must partake in the consumption of the music. Every four to six songs we have to get up out of our chairs and flip the record. If we want to listen to another song we don’t just push a button – we find it on the record and precisely place the needle and arm over the grooves of the desired song. There are some definite sound preferences I have in listening to a record vs.

and mp3. Specifically The Edge’s guitar tones on Joshua Tree. In a world that is focused so much on the drive-thru-getwhat-I-want-immediately-now-automaticdownload-mobile-always-connectedtext-do-not-call realm, having an actual interactive experience is what impresses me most. I’ll admit being able to download music pretty much anywhere and having it with you wherever you go is convenient. In my life I have found that leaning on convenience too much has led me into seasons of selfishness. There’s just something about taking part. Worship is this way, in my opinion. I am learning it the hard way. These days we have what some people call the “worship industry.” What is the point of having an industry, business plans, financial exchanges, legal battles over rights and marketing of worship? Taking the stance that I have on this, I only think it’s fair I admit my own faults and shortcomings on the matter. For years of my life I had strived to be a “famous” worship leader. Aiming to have my songs sung in auditoriums across the world. Here is where I am at. Worship is our gift, desire, gratitude and whole hearted love for God, simply for who He is. Too many times we don’t want to take part in worship. I’m not talking about just sitting in the back of the room with our arms folded as the concert goes on in front of us. I’m talking about wanting to go in to the corporate time of worship and get something from God. Rating it on what we feel. We sing songs talking ourselves in to God being good and wanting to muster up some special feeling. So we “soak” in the river of feelings. We just press play on our MP3 worship services and wait for the rise and fall of the music to make bold proclamations only founded in our feelings of what God has

done for us. It’s like all we want to talk about is the stuff God is doing for us in our worship. There is something pure and ancient in the fact that we get to take part in blessing the heart of God! - Taylor Maxwell
What if we just talked about who He is? What if we just thanked him for everything? What if we were just so incredibly thankful and grateful of Him that our gratitude filled the room so incredibly it was unavoidable how loved GOD felt? Instead of trying to worship to convince ourselves of how loved we are? This is what I mean by Vinyl LP vs. MP3. There is something pure and ancient in the fact that we get to take part in blessing the heart of God! I’m not exactly sure why we get a chance to make the creator of the universe proud. But we do. We are children sloppily making our enormous and incredible father proud. When God is so overjoyed, things happen. Not when we are begging him to tell us we are important. Not when we are begging him for another high, or movement, or goosebumps. There are very real and important times for us to be contemplative and meditative. But, for too long we have decided it was always best to sing those songs that make us feel something. We need to pick up the needle and explore the album. Our worship doesn’t need to be neat and clean and solemn; let the crackles and imperfections of our vinyls lives sing. There is something so real to me about an album crackling. It’s doing the best it can to be heard in the purest way. But no matter how well it is played, there is always the

grooves of life that have worn on and on. even have to worry about that. I’m not a man claiming to have it all together. I’m just saying we have a great God to sing about. To live our lives about and for. Let’s get off of our comfortable chairs and flip the record over. Let’s interact with the music. All of our lives, communities, and cities have their own songs. Too long we have leaned upon the cute packages of others songs or cultures to define for us what we need to be exclaiming to God. There is a unique song in every village of Africa, each colony of India, each war torn home in Iraq, each studio flat in New York, each Church and life across the globe. What we need to do is stand up and be grateful. We need to partake and not just take. We don’t have to get what we need, want, yearn for, or dream of right here and now. Truth of it is.. We never will get all we want on this earth. So we might as well start now being grateful for the only true lover our hearts long for.
Our role in worship isn’t convincing God to love us. It’s us loving him. - Taylor Maxwell
Our role in worship isn’t convincing God to love us. It’s us loving him. It’s us saying, “Thank you.” It’s us saying, “We choose to pursue you no matter what.” It’s us bringing others to the river. Not just soaking in it all by our lonesome.

3 Lessons on Worship from Leading Worship By: Porter Cyr
hroughout years of leading worship, there have been LOTS of lessons I have learned about worship. There are honestly too many to list; however, I would like to highlight three in particular that I hope will challenge you and give you Godly counsel.
T
1) I can’t make people worship.
you think it will get you?" God-of-the-Angel -Armies asks you. (Malachi 1:7-8 The Message Bible)
That is straight from the Lord’s mouth. Here’s the answer to the problem for the worship leader. If I as the worship leader am frustrated with response, I guarantee it’s because I’m not worshiping on stage, myself.
This is probably the most important thing worship leaders need to learn. Praise and worship is YOUR response to God, His love, and His goodness, not what I want your response to be. It’s all about who He is to YOU. If you are only clappin’, dancin’, shoutin’, lap-runnin’, and tellin’ yo’ neighbor because I told you to, you’re not worshiping. That’s counterfeit worship. Just like banks before they receive money check to see if it’s counterfeit, God checks our worship to see if it’s counterfeit since it’s an offering unto Him. Look what God said in His Word about this: "When you say, 'The altar of God is not important anymore; worship of God is no longer a priority,' that's defiling. And when you offer worthless animals for sacrifices in worship, animals that you're trying to get rid of—blind and sick and crippled animals— isn't that defiling? Try a trick like that with your banker or your senator—how far do

They need to see it be real in you first. No matter where I go, I’ve found that when the worship gets intense is when I take my eyes off of the people and put them on God. That’s why I prefer the title “lead worshiper” over worship leader. 2) Worship was never meant just
for Sunday morning and midweek service. This goes for both you and I no matter who we are. I’m going to go straight to the Word on this one.
This last point is one that worship leaders and Christians don’t like to hear because we have all been guilty of it. When you’re coming from a perspective of entertainment and building hype like was discussed in the first point, it is very easy to become susceptible toward pride and worshiping the tools God gave you instead of the One who gave you the tools. Believe it or not, this was prophesied in scripture. “Therefore he sacrifices [offerings] to his net and burns incense to his dragnet, because from them he lives luxuriously and his food is plentiful and rich. Shall he therefore continue to empty his net and mercilessly go on slaying the nations forever?”
“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul (Habakkuk 1:16-17 The Amplified Bible) shall make its boast in the Lord; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify I would normally try to expound upon the Lord with me, And let us exalt His the verse; however, I would like for you name together.” (Psalm 34:1-3 NKJV, to read it and meditate on it instead. In
bold and italics added for emphasis)
conclusion, I would like to say be the one thing the Bible says God seeks after:
When are we supposed to worship? You read it: ALL THE TIME! In everything we do, it is supposed to be for the “That's the kind of people the Father is out glory of God. We should all be ready looking for: those who are simply and honSunday morning, and/or whenever else estly themselves before him in their worship. our churches meet, to go before the God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who Lord as a people. The Bible talks of this worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoratoo in a particular scripture: tion."
“How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.” (1 Corinthians
(John 4:24 The Message Bible, bold and italics added for emphasis)
14:26 NKJV)
How does that come about? It comes from spending one on one time with the Lord continually pouring yourself out to Him and listening to His heart. This way in our services, we are all ready spiritually for what God wants to do in the corporate setting because of the obedience in the individual setting.
3) Never worship your worship.

Freedom of the Press = Freedom for the people By: Anatoly I. Policastro
s America enters an election year, the importance of the Freedom of the Press cannot be overemphasized. Reporting of primary elections and presidential campaigns can sway the opinions of many if the reporting is undertaken in a way to persuade the population to move in a certain direction. This highlights the importance of our First Amendment Constitutional Freedom of the Press for not just this year, but everyday and in every way, because freedom of the press equals freedom for the people.
The Internet played a large role in organizing the largest anti-government protect in Russia in the past two decades of semi-freedom. Was it poor verification of information being fed to reporters by the GOP, or was it directed by undue influence from one candidate’s campaign who repeatedly appeared to benefit from the misinformation, or was it led by “the four corporations that own all of America’s news media outlets”?4 It is only through vigilance and verified-fact reporting, perhaps through outside watchdog groups, that America’s press will continue to stay independent, accountable, and free from government and any other type of manipulation.

Don’t Settle for a Fake Anointing By J Lee Grady Gideon for wanting assurance. In fact, God answered Gideon both times with moisture from heaven. The dew was a sign of God’s favor and blessing. “I love it when the Holy Spirit does miracles. But when people fake the supernatural in order to get an audience response (or a big offering), I run for the door.”
Many Christians today can’t distinguish between the sweat of the flesh and the dew of heaven.
Gideon is one of my favorite Bible characters because I relate to his struggle with inferiority. God pulled this runt of a guy out of a hole in the ground and called him to deliver Israel. Gideon’s classic “Who, me?” response reminds me of conversations I’ve had with the Lord. None of us feels qualified to do God’s work, but we know from Gideon’s example that reluctant wimps can be transformed into valiant warriors. I’ve heard people criticize Gideon because he laid out a fleece of wool on the ground and asked the Lord—not once but twice—to confirm His promise (see Judges 6:36-40). But the Bible doesn’t say God was mad at
DREAM
You know how the story ends. Gideon’s impressive army of 22,000 is downsized to a ragtag band of 300, and they carry only trumpets, clay pots and torches into battle. Through their supernatural victory over Midian, God made it clear that His anointing has nothing to do with human ability. How many of us have learned Gideon’s lesson? Do you trust the Holy Spirit to work in you, or do you lean on the flesh? Do you have the precious dew of His miraculous anointing on your life, or have you manufactured a cheap form of human moisture to do the job? Many Christians today can’t distinguish between the sweat of the flesh and the dew of heaven, but there is a big difference. As I have prayed for more anointing in my life, I’ve realized that we often mistake fake anointing for the real thing. Here’s what I’ve learned so far: The anointing isn’t in numbers. We place so much importance on church size today, yet God doesn’t seem impressed by crowds. I have nothing against megachurches as long as

they preach the gospel—and many of them do a better job of it than small churches. But we’re headed for disaster if we think seating capacity alone reflects God’s approval. The anointing isn’t in eloquence. Some people have an uncanny way with words (including non-Christian motivational speakers), but persuasive skill isn’t the same as spiritual anointing. The dew of heaven is holy. It brings conviction and repentance—not selfawareness and an ego boost. And true preaching does not exalt the preacher—it crucifies him and focuses all attention on the Son of God.
screaming, swooning and other forms of religious theater. It doesn’t matter what is preached—it is “anointed” as long as the preacher punctuates it with enough volume and the people shout back. (One preacher I know had everyone holl\ering while she quoted lines from a Beyoncé song!) Remember: Backslidden Israel shouted so loud that the earth quaked, but by the end of the day the Philistines had plundered them (see 1 Sam. 4:5-11).
The anointing isn’t in contrived manifestations. I love it when the Holy Spirit does miracles. But when people fake the supernatural in order to get an audience response (or a big offering), I run The anointing isn’t in looks. In today’s for the door. By: Steven Semones II he third Dream Unite was a great evening. We met for our third time at Sandy Beach Resort in Myrtle Beach, SC with about 35 people present to represent their ministries. They shared their heart, connected, and really loved on one another. It was an amazing night and I am already looking forward to the next one coming up Tuesday Nov 27th at 7pm located back again at Sandy Beach Resort in their conference room. We have another full list of ministries that will be present with us. We hope many more will come to check out what Dream Unite is all about as well as connect with other ministries and we hope to one day soon hear your heart,. Our desire is to see walls broken and your purpose be fulfilled. It will take all of us working together as the body and not against one another. Come and connect and we look forward to seeing you at the next Dream unite.

What is the heart of Dream Unite?
We believe in what God has called you for, and remember the only person that can ever keep you from that is you!
In your ministry right know…
Do you ever feel the burden of feeling you have to do everything by yourself?
Do you have passion that is burning deep within you or have you been close to burn out? Do you spend more time focusing on many things that you can’t really focus on the one thing that you were
called to do?
Do you have a hard time trusting others, and building relationships?
Do you feel like you are the only one that cares and nobody understands how you feel?
You try to reach out, help, serve, but sometimes you don’t feel you have anywhere to turn for encouragement, love, support, and sometimes just a trustful ear to listen?
DREAM
Dream Unite is to help connect you with other passionate ministries just like yours, to help join arms in your missions that God has called you for. To help you be more effective, revive you ministry to be fun and full of passionate men and women that want to make disciples. Find brothers and sisters that are there to serve, help come beside you, team up with you, and together there is nothing we can’t achieve with God. Your burnout turns into peace, and your focus gets clearer. You become more defined, you have a support staff, full of ministries that love, encourage, pray for one another, serve one another, and only one motive to make disciples. A place to meet other ministries with hearts just like you, ministries where it isn’t trying to compare how they are better but always thinking together how we can be more effective and better to fulfill the call God has put deep inside of us all. We are a part of one body and we are not in competition. We all have a piece of the Grande puzzle that God has created but only found by each wonderful piece of the body. Our Dream is to not to be another event to put into your schedule, but to help you in all different areas of ministry. Be something that challenges, gives good info, and helps you build some of the greatest relationships that you have ever known. I want to see the body totally unite for nothing other but to see the fathers will to be done, but the only way that can happen is with your help. I am reaching, but are you willing to grab it back and let’s hold on through all the years as we grow together in Christ and do everything we can to reach generation to generation!
“One thing that I have learned is being busy is never the problem, but the problem is being effective. “
There are only so many hours in a week, and days in a year. We are none granted tomorrow, but how can we be more effective?

Not This Year By: Donnie Lord On November 5, 2011 Dream held its first annual fundraiser to support Not This Year. It was a huge success as we accomplished our goal and were able to touch the lives of ONE HUNDRED women throughout the Grand Strand in homes for battered women. Held at The X Sports Complex in Myrtle Beach contestants paid an entry fee and then battled each other in one on one tournaments of Madden ’12 on the Xbox 360 console. The two winners squared off one week later in the inaugural Dream Bowl to be called Dream Bowl Champion and take home the now coveted Dream Bowl Trophy. All games were played on professional gaming tournament consoles and monitors provided by East Coast Xtreme Gaming and recorded to be later displayed on the internet with help from Gamers Armada including the Dream Bowl in its entirety with colorful commentary by Brent Densford from ECX and Chris Gardiner from Gamers Armada.
The success of this fundraiser would not have been possible without the help of the local business sponsors who donated various items and services for prizes. The following were sponsors and their prizes were Advance Auto Parts and the Dominator Award given to the first person to make their opponent forfeit, the Logans Roadhouse Something Meatier Award for rushing over 100 yards, and the Affordable Garage Quarter Finals where all contestants who made it to the quarter finals received free services from Affordable Garage. With this past year behind us our focus is now on to next year. November 3, 2012 will be the Madden ’13 Tournament and the Dream Bowl 2013 one week following. We ask for you help in any way possible. For some it’s a donation of time or money, for others it will be services as prizes, and others will help by participating in the tournament. Thank you for your time and for carefully considering how you might be involved.

Common Ground
People from all walks of life coming together to enjoy worshipping Jesus Christ through music, the arts, and fellowship. We value genuine Christian community and understand the need for “comprehensive Christianity Which offers an example of how it looks to walk in a relationship with Christ outside the 4 walls of the sanctuary. Thus, we hope to provide a place to engage and invite younger believers to enjoy Christ in a new way. The Mordecai Project is a Christian ministry founded by J. Lee Grady, a journalist, ordained minister and author of the groundbreaking book 10 Lies the Church Tells Women. The purpose of this ministry is to (1) confront the global oppression of women; (2) empower women to discover their God-given spiritual gifts and ministries; and (3) equip Christian men, including church leaders, to recognize, value, protect and train the women in their lives. This mission is accomplished through books, preaching, mentoring, leadership conferences, ministerial retreats and television programs in various languages. Lee is confronting all forms of abuse including domestic violence, female infanticide, denial of education to girls, forced prostitution and sex trafficking, female genital mutilation, mistreatment of widows and honor killings. He also calls for the full participation of trained women in church leadership, and he challenges the global church to reject unbiblical religious traditions that encourage gender discrimination. __________________________________________________________

I hope you where inspired and challenged in the first issue of Dream Magazine. I am twenty-six years old and I have grown up in Myrtle Beach, SC all of my life. I have a Dream to see people that have lost hope to find hope, that have lost their desire to dream to dream, and for broken hearts to be mended. Life is about choices and outcomes to our choices. I don’t care what someone has told you, what they have said you can’t achieve, but I believe that you can do whatever is deep down in your heart. It will take hard work, some sweat, and tears. Nothing worth achieving is easy, but if you are willing to put the time into achieving it I believe you will do it. I have thought many times even if you never achieve the dream that was put inside of your heart, you die knowing that you never gave up on what was put inside of you. Nothing or no one can ever stop you from reaching your dreams, but only you. We all have things in our lives, we all have felt heartbreak, dealt with loss, had some highs and some lows, but we still must persevere as long as air is in our lungs. Life is short and that is reason enough to ask yourself the question what are you waiting for? As you look around this world you see nothing but negativity and people that are tired of just going through a robot kind of life. We have no choice than to dream because what else do we have without that in our hearts and minds. We not only must dream but we have to believe that it will and can be done!
I HAVE A DREAM... In Dream magazine you find powerful stories of people that have dreams whether it is in there personal life, there ministries, and there businesses. I love to hear the heart of a person and there dreams because you find there passion that seems to flow out of their innermost being. I am a minister that wants to cause people to dream, to find there purpose in life, to lead with encouragement, and to share the freedom I have found in Christ which is the one that will not allow me to drop this dream to be a catalyst of change that is inspired in dreams and is followed by action . I know we live in a world that is tired of hearing words so I want to lead, dream, encourage, and live it with my life. I once read a young boys quote he wrote before he died that simply said , “you don’t know what you would live for unless you know what you would die for. I would die for you.” I live my life and give it so that you can also find the peace and freedom that I know because I know you are worth it! I have a dream that my words will not go void but be something that impacts this world my lifetime and beyond!
