Dr. Morris Brown
Dr. Morris Brown’s academic path began at Cobb Avenue High School, leading him to Knoxville College, Tennessee, where he honed his leadership within the Omega Psi Phi fraternity and student government. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology, he pursued medical education at Meharry Medical School in Nashville, affiliated with the United Methodist Church, graduating in 1974. His time in the United States Air Force Medical Corps as Director of Aerospace Medicine honed his skills further, providing medical support at various remote sites. Following his military service, Dr. Morris Brown of Dayton played a pivotal role at Central State University after a devastating tornado. Utilizing his Air Force experience, he secured funding to rebuild the community health center, significantly impacting the campus and local community. His medical career transitioned to Wright State Medical School/Miami Valley Hospital’s Family Medicine Residency program. For over 35 years, Dr. Brown dedicated himself to addressing healthcare disparities, eventually serving an urban practice that grew to manage over 10,000 patients. Retiring in 2018, Dr. Brown’s commitment to service didn’t wane. He now leads initiatives for criminal justice reform and healthcare equity, continuing his involvement with marginalized communities. His post-retirement roles include Director at Above the Law, focusing on youth incarceration alternatives, and a Medical Legal Consultant at All Ways Legal LLC. Additionally, he serves as CFO of Central Solutions LLC, innovating in commercial logistics and supporting minority-owned enterprises in Ohio. Dr. Morris Brown, Ohio, has been honored extensively, including a Board Certification in Family Medicine for 35 years, numerous awards for healthcare contributions, and an honorary PhD in Humanities. As he celebrated his 50th graduation anniversary from Meharry Medical College in 2024, his ongoing contributions underscore a life dedicated to justice, healthcare, and community support.
