D-Star, 2010 Brushed aluminum, acrylic, mixed media 21 x 21 x 3.5 in

Moshé Elimelech About D-Star The four images shown here are all from a single piece of art. This artwork is from Mr. Elimelech’s “Arrangement” series. An “Arrangement” consists of moveable cubes set within a shadow box. By painting the six faces of each cube with a different design, the piece carries visual secrets unveiled over time. Every “Arrangement” carries within it six distinctive compositions made by the artist. But, as each cube can be individually rotated or repositioned by the viewer, the number of potential variations is far greater than the artist’s original vision. Emphasizing and encouraging viewer participation, these works function like a jazz score, permitting innovation within a defined matrix of possibilities. Brad Howe “My sculptures are designed with a focus on vitality.” Their structures are composed with actual or implied kinetic properties aimed at exposing energized moments between connection and disconnection, as well as between strain and serenity. Brad Howe seeks to build on the tradition of geometric abstraction and to sustain that tradition as a living, viable discourse. His playful mobiles, wall hangings, furniture, and freestanding sculptures combine the dynamic planar relationships and solid coloration associated with post-cubist modernism. As a student of International Relations at Stanford University, Howe attended the University of São Paulo. Working from his studio near Los Angeles he has exhibited in over eighteen countries worldwide. For more information on this artist go to: www.bradhowe.com
