BREAST CANCER AROUND THE WORLD

In the 1940’s, your chances of developing breast cancer were 1 in 40. Now 1 in 3 women will develop some form of cancer and 1 in 8 will developbreastcancerinherlifetime.

BREAST CANCER CAN BE PREVENTED

Scientistshavecometotheconclusionthatmorethanhalfofallcancers can be prevented through lifestyle changes and healthier habits.5 AccordingtotheUniversityofColumbiaSchoolofPublicHealth,“95%of allcancerisduetodietandtheaccumulationoftoxins.”

AnarticleintheAmericanAssociationofPharmaceuticalScientists stated:

“Cancer is a preventable disease that requires major lifestyle changes. Only 5–10% of all cancer cases can be attributed to genetic defects, whereas the remaining 90-95% have their roots in the environment and lifestyle.”6

Inotherwords, breastcanceris highly preventable with lifestyle and dietary changes.

YOUR DNA IS NOT YOUR DESTINY

“Ihavebreastcancerbecausemymomhadit,andhermombeforeher andhermombeforeher.”

Howmanytimeshaveyouheardthisstatement?Ormaybeevenmadea similarstatementyourself?Throughoutmostofourliveswehavebeen bombarded with a myriad of data and information indicating human beings are permanently subject to their genetic makeup, that we are “victims”ofourancestralgenepool.

The old gene theory has led us to believe that our genes and our DNA wouldultimatelydeterminetheoutcomeofourhealthandthatwehad verylittlecontroloverit.Butthetruthisyoudon’thavetobeavictimof yourgenes. Onlyasmallpercentageofbreastcancercasesarecausedby genetics.

THE SCIENCE OF EPIGENETICS

We have the power to change and influence our genes in many ways. Scientific discoveries are shedding new light on the world of genetics. The newscience of epigenetics (epi meaning“above” “over” or“near”) revealsthatgenesareturnedoffandon, notbythegenesthemselves, but throughexternalenvironmentalstimuli.

Inotherwords, your genes need instructionsonwhattodo, andwhen andwhere to doit. Picture thecellmembrane as acomputerchip, and the environment is literally typing on the cell receptors – which are equivalent to keys on a keyboard. When information from the

environmentcomes inand “hits” the cell, andthe cell signals the gene, creatingprogramming.

Dr.BruceLiptonisaworld-renownedcellularbiologistandresearcher inthefieldofquantumphysics. Hesaystheenvironment-andnotDNA -shapesthedevelopmentofourhealth. Hewrites: “Cellular biologists now recognized that the environment-theexternaluniverseandourinternal physiology-and,moreimportantly,ourperceptionof the environment directly control the activity of our genes. ”7

There are many different types of signals that impact our gene expression.Variousinfluencessuchasyourlifestylechoices, exposures to environmental toxins, dietary habits, and even your thoughts and feelings, canaffectyourgeneexpression.

AlandmarkstudybyDr.DeanOrnish,M.D.,clinicalprofessorofmedicine attheUniversityofCalifornia,SanFrancisco, demonstratedthatlifestyle changes could alter our genes.8 This study showed that improved nutrition, moderate exercise, stress management, and increased social support, changedtheexpressionof over 500 genes!

These changes “turned on” health-promoting genes while they “turned off” genes that promoted heart disease, cancer, inflammation, and oxidative stress.

Genes can be turned off and on with nutrition and antioxidants. For example, NRF2 is a gene that increases the levels of the antioxidant glutathioneinyourcells.Itcanbeactivatedandturnedonwithnutrients from broccoli sprouts and curcumin. Research also proves that your emotional and psychological state can have an impact on the genes in yourDNA.

Astudy from the Institute of HeartMath demonstrated the impactour emotionshaveoninfluencingourDNA 9 Twenty-eightresearcherswere eachgivenavialcontainingDNA.Theywereinstructedtofeelpositive feelings such as gratitude, love, and appreciation and project those

CANCER AS A METABOLIC DISEASE

Agrowingbodyofevidencepointstothefactthatcancerisa“metabolic disease.”10 In a nutshell, this means that cancer is a problem at the cellularlevel, inparticularatthelevelof mitochondria withincells.

Back in the 1920’s and 30’s, Dr. Otto Warburg proved that cancer is causedbydefectsincellularmetabolism(i.e.mitochondriadefects).He was also thefirstto discover cancer’s insatiable appetite for sugar (i.e.

Dr.ThomasSeyfriedofBostonCollegeisanexpertincellularmetabolism and nutritional ketosis. He believes all types of cancer are related. He and other experts view all cancers as one disease in which damaged mitochondria prefer glucose (aswellasglutamine)asafuelsource.

Researchproveshealthycellsdobestwhentheycanburnfatasfuel. But they can also use almost any substance to keep themselves alive and energized. Cancer cells, on the other hand, need glucose to survive. Nothingelsewilldo.

Andthisfactiswhatmanysayiscancer’s“Achillesheel.”Simplyput, get rid of sugar, start the process of burning fat for fuel, strengthen those healthymitochondria, andyourbodycanheal, accordingtoDr.Seyfried andothers.

6 WAYS TO STRENGTHEN YOUR MITOCHONDRIA

Youcanavoidmetabolic diseasesandstrengthenyourmitochondria withthesesimpletips:

1. Cut the sugar. Over 100 years of research has proven that cancer feeds on sugar so don’t feed it! This goes for highfructose fruits liketropical fruits as well as simplecarbs like pastas and potatoes since they also contain a high glycemic load

2. Exercise. Exertion stimulates “mitochondrial biogenesis” in the muscles as well as in the brain and other organs.13 Mitochondrial biogenesis is the process through which cells increase mitochondrial mass and the production of ATP (i.e. cellularenergy).Thisisonereasonexercisehasbeenshownto reducecancerriskandimprovesurvivalafterdiagnosis.14

14https://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/causes-prevention/risk/obesity/physicalactivity-fact-sheet

3. Consider taking key supplements. Studies show certain “mitochondrial nutrients” such as alpha-lipoic acid, acetyl-lcarnitine, biotin, nicotinamide, riboflavin, pyridoxine, CoQ10, resveratrol and taurine can promote improved cellular respirationandmetabolism

4. Restrict calories. Whenyoueatlessfoodandconsumefewer calories, you extend the life of the mitochondria within each cell.Thisisbecausecalorierestrictioncanleadto“autophagy,” aprocessof“deepcleaning”withinthebody.Duringaperiod ofcalorierestrictionorfasting, theimmunesystembeginsto “cleanhouse,”gobblingupoldandsickcellsanddisposingof them.Thisisonereasonmanystudiesshoweatinglessleads toslowertumorgrowthandthepreventionofmetastasis.15

5. Try a Short-term Ketogenic Diet. Moreandmoreevidence indicatesthatuppingyourintakeofhealthyfat, lesseningyour protein intake, and cutting sugar and carbs, can help your mitochondria by stimulating a state called “ketosis” in your body.16 I am not yet convinced that a ketogenic diet is beneficial for long-term health. Butfor a short-term therapy, andametabolicreset, evidenceismountinginfavorofit.Ifyou feel stuck in your healing journey, consider looking at the ketogenicdiet.

TRIGGER #1- SAD FOOD

The Standard American Diet’s acronym (SAD) is so appropriate. Processed,packagedandpoisonedfoodsmakeup90%oftheinventory ongrocerystoreshelves.

Itistrulyasadstateofaffairswhenconventionaldoctorsdon’tknowthe difference between toxic food and healthy food. Here are a few of the mainfoodsthattriggerthegrowthofcancercells:

Excessive Sugar Consumption

Sugarisperhapsthebiggestthreattoyourhealthandthehealthofyour family.Americansconsumeover100poundsofsugarperyear. That’san averageof52teaspoonsofsugarperday!Themajorityofthisisinthe formofbeveragesandotherproductssweetenedwithhigh-fructosecorn syrup. As a result,obesity, heartdisease andcancer numbersare atan all-timehigh.

Whatmostpeopledon’trealizeisthatcancercellsLOVEsugar.Astudy inthe International Journal of Endocrinology states:

Cancer cells are well known to display an enhanced sugar uptake and consumption. In fact, sugartransportersarederegulatedincancercells,so theyincorporatehigheramountsofsugarthannormal cells.

ItdrivesmecrazywhenIhearoncologistsandmedicalphysicianssaying there is no connection between sugar consumption and cancer. And if youvisitanyhospitalorchemotherapysuiteyouwillseegobsofcandy andsodasbeingofferedtosickcancerpatients.

The very technology that traditional medicine uses to detect cancer in various parts on the body is based on the premise that cancer LOVES sugar.APETscan(PositronEmissionTomography)takesadvantageof cancer cells’ voracious appetite for sugar and helps to determine the extentofcancerinthebody.

Before a PET scan, the patient is injected with a radioactive sugar solution.Sincecancerhas10timesmoreinsulinreceptorsitescompared tohealthycells, thecancercellsgobbleuptheradioactivesugarsolution first. The result is an image with lights glowing in areas of the body afflictedwithcancercells.

Wenowknowthatcancercellshavemorereceptorsitesforglucosethan healthy cells do. This leads to the obvious (and scientifically verified) conclusionthat glucose feeds cancer cells.

THE DIABETES – BREAST CANCER CONNECTION

Studiesshowadirectconnectionbetweendiabetesandmanykindsof cancer.18 In fact, a joint US-Canadian studyof 600 postmenopausal breast cancer patients found a definite connection between high insulinlevels,obesityandhigherincidenceofbreastcancer.19

The link has to do with insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1). This hormonal substance is produced by the liver. Its main job is to promote cell growth. While IGF-1 is vital for early childhood development, toomuchofitcanbedangerousforadults.

A 2014 report in the International Journal of Cancer found active communication between IGF-1 proteins, estrogen hormones, and cellular receptor sites in mammary glands.20 The researchers concluded that high IGF-1 levels could indicate a higher risk for ERpositive breast cancer. Still other studies have linked IGF-1to lower immune function21 and a higher incidence of “dense breast syndrome.”22

Sucrose, or basic table sugar, is a combination of both glucose and fructose.Itisespeciallyhardtoprocesssincethebodymustseparateout glucose and fructose molecules before it can process it fully. Furthermore, HFCS and sucrose are synthetically made and rob your body of essential trace minerals. Both should be avoided completely if youareonahealthybreastprotocol. Here’swhy:

A groundbreaking study in the journal Cancer Research looked at the effects of sugar on the growth of breast cancer tumors. It found that sucrose consumption increased breast tumor growth and increased metastasis of breast cancer cells into the lungs.

BAD FATS AND OILS

Friedfoodsservedatfastfoodchainsandrestaurants, aswellasmany packaged and processed foods, contain hydrogenated oils. These fats havebeenchemicallyalteredtoallowforlongershelfandstoragelife. These unhealthy oils raise “bad cholesterol” (LDL) and lower “good cholesterol”(HDL). Atthesametime, theydamagecellmembranes.

ADDITIVES AND CHEMICALS

Thereareover10,000chemicalsusedinthefoodindustry,mostofwhich have never been tested for safety. Most food products that are manufactured and come out of a box are loaded with these toxic chemicals.Manyoftheartificialcolorings, flavorings, andadditiveshave beenlinkedtocancerandotherautoimmunediseases.29

Bovine growth hormone (bGH) is injected into cows to increase milk production. The large udders are continuously pumped for milk. This oftenleadstoinfectionswhichresultsintheabuseofantibiotics.31 The

OVERCOOKED AND PROCESSED FOODS

LovepotatochipsandFrenchfries?Howabouttoastedbreakfastcereals andcertainsnacks?

Hazardous by-products are produced when plant-based foods are cookedathightemperatures(250°degreesFahrenheitandabove). The HEATOX project (Heat Generated Food Toxicants32) is a multidisciplinaryresearchprojectinvolving14countries.Itundertookstudies oftheeffectsofvariouschemicalsonthebody.

Researchersidentifiedmorethan800compoundsproducedwhenfoods are heated at high temperatures. And 52 of those compounds are potentialcarcinogens.

One of the chemicals which especially caught their attention is acrylamide. This is so toxic and carcinogenic that the EPA has set a maximum contaminant level goal (MCLG) at 0 but has an allowable thresholdof0.2microgramsperday.

So how much acrylamide are you getting when you eat your favorite potatochips?AreportbytheEnvironmentalLawFoundationfoundthat some potato chips had levels as high as 910 times the allowable threshold.33

According to their analysis, all potato chip products tested required a “warning” about cancer risk because of the high levels of cancercausing acrylamide.

Environmental toxicity includes all the chemicals weare exposed to in the environment, in our homes, and in our bodies. Let’s look at the chemicalchainfromamacrolevelintheenvironmentallthewaydown tothemicrolevelinsideyourbody.

Herbicides, pesticides, insecticides as well as many industrial compounds fall into the category of “xenoestrogens.” These chemicals mimic estrogens in the body and have been implicated in a variety of serioushealthproblemsincludingcancer.

Let’s take a closer look and see what toxicity lurks inside your home. Chemicals from carpeting, furniture, cleaning solutions, artificial air fresheners, scentedcandles, andevenyourpotsandpanscontributetoa toxicenvironment

The average consumer is exposed to 127 chemicals per day, simply from their body care products.

And have you ever considered what you put ON your body? Your skin absorbs everything directly into the bloodstream. TRIGGER #3 – PHYSICAL AND HORMONAL STRESS

Ourcellscommunicatewitheachotherthroughphotonlight.Ournerve system commands and controls every function in the body through electrical pathways. Our organs communicate with each other through theacupuncturemeridiansystem.

With all this energetic exchange goingon, itis importantto make sure there is no obstruction in that energy flow. Obstructions can occur because of spinal subluxations, chemical toxicities, and chronic emotionalstress.

Anotherformofstressinourbodyiscalled oxidative stress.Thisisthe body’sinabilitytoreadilydetoxifyorrepairdamagefromtoxins 41 When your body breaks down food, or when it is exposed to environmental toxins, it produces free radicals which can cause DNA and cellular damage.Ifyourliveranddetoxificationpathwaysarenotfunctioningat optimal levels, the chronic exposure to free radicals can lead to DNA damageandultimatelycancer.

balance. Since estrogen is intricately involved with so many hormonal pathways, the concern about these foreign estrogens is that they are interfering with reproduction, increasing endometriosis, increasing fibroids in the uterus and breasts, and increasing the possibility of developingbreastcancer.

Astudyinthe Journal of Applied Toxicology revealedhighconcentrations of parabens in post-mastectomy breasts affected with breast cancer.42 Parabens are a type of xenoestrogen. The parabens were present even with women who had never used any type of underarm deodorant throughouttheirwholelifetime, indicatingtheparabenscamefromthe cosmetic, food, andpharmaceuticalindustries.

If you cannot metabolize or properly break down these foreign estrogens, you can get a buildup of more “aggressive” proliferative estrogen.

Methylation

ThisprocesswasnewstomeuntilIdiscoveredthatIhadgeneticissues that prevented me from properly breaking down estrogen and environmentalchemicals.Thiswasalsoakeyreasonfortherecurrence in2015.

Iamamazedthattraditionalmedicinedoesnotaddressthisissuewith womenwho havebreastcancer. Itis a key factor thatcandrive breast cancerinthefirstplace.

Methylationisacomplexbio-chemicalprocessthatoccursinyourbody every day. Think of it like the spark plug in a car that evokes certain chemical reactions. It causes hormones and proteins to change into different substances. For example, it helps convert serotonin into melatonin. It helps change strong estrogens to milder, less aggressive estrogens.

Improper methylation patterns are commonly associated with breast cancer. Theyleadtoinactivationofcertaingenesinthebreasttissue.49

Poor methylation also plays an important role in the development of certaintypesof breastcancer.50 And breastcancer prognosisisclosely linkedtomethylation.51

Howdoyouknowifyouhavemethylationproblems?

If you have a tendency towards obesity and have painful menstrual periods with excess bleeding and clots, you are probably estrogen dominantandmayhaveamethylationissue.

I did this test and discovered I haveacompromisedgenethatgavemeveryhighhomocysteinelevels–anothersignofimpropermethylation.Thiswasalsoaprobabletrigger inmydevelopingbreastcancer.

5 ACTION STEPS YOU CAN TAKE NOW TO IMPROVE YOUR METHYLATION

Whenmethylation processes are working properly, they can change “aggressive”estrogensintomilderforms. That’sgreatnewsforbreast cancerprevention.

Unfortunately, methylationisrarelyaddressedbytraditionaldoctors and is a seriously overlooked piece of the puzzle when it comes to breastcancer.

Following even a few of the steps below will take you far towards balancingmethylationprocesses.

1. Reduce Your Toxic Load.

Avoiding toxins is probably the most important thing you can do to help your methylation processes and reduce chemical estrogenic overload.Goorganicwithnotonlyyourveggies,butalsomeatsaswell.

2. Balance stress and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Recentstudiesmaketheconnectionbetweenepigeneticfactors,brain healthandmethylationimbalance.52

3. Include flax seeds in your diet.

52https://www.futuremedicine.com/doi/abs/10.2217/epi-20160099?journalCode=epi

Flax seedsare high in lignans, a powerhouse substance that mimics naturally-occurring mild forms of estrogen. It takes up residence at cellularreceptorsitesinthebreasts, blockingxenoestrogens.

4. Support your liver.

Theliver’smainjobisdetoxification.Itisheavilyinterconnectedwith methylation, especiallytheconversionoffolatetoglutathione, oneof the most powerful antioxidants in your body. An effective way to supportyourliveristoadministeracoffeeenemaatleastonceaweek (more if you are on a breast cancer healing journey). Studies have shown that the phytochemicals kahweol and cafestol in coffee can activateglutathioneandpromotecellulardetoxification.53

5. Consider targeted supplementation.

Supplements that target methylation include Methyl Support which supplies synergistic B vitamins to support methylation and homocysteinemetabolism. Brocco Power54 contains sulforaphane, a compoundextractedfrombroccolisprouts. AndHaelan, afermented soy product, balances estrogen methylation pathways through isoflavones.

You may be surprised to find Tamoxifen and x-ray radiation are categorized as carcinogenic!

Accordingto MedscapeNews,“The practiceof oncology isinneedof a host of reforms.”57 It is a well-known scientific fact that stem cells subjected to needless radiation and chemical poisoning actually stimulatethegrowthofcancerandmakeitmoremalignant.58

And chemotherapy is worse than ineffective. According to Dr. Allen Levin,M.D.,authorof The Healing of Cancer, “The majority of the cancer patients in this country die because of chemotherapy, which does not cure breast, colon, or lung cancer. This has been documented for over a decade and nevertheless doctors still utilize chemotherapy to fight these tumors.”

Chemo and Other Toxic Drugs

The history of chemotherapy drugs can be traced to chemical warfare duringWorldWarI.59 AfteraGermanairraidinBari,Italy, morethan 1,000 people were exposed to the chemical warfare agent called “nitrogenmustard.”Autopsiesofthevictimswereexaminedbyanexpert in chemical warfare. I was sitting in this room full of women that looked like death. I was waiting for my turn to have my weekly dose of chemo inserted through my port. As I watched the nurse handle the bag of fluid with gloves and a mask, I noticed that the bag had this big “CAUTION” sign on it.

It dawned on me that if it was too toxic for her to handle without gloves, why was I feeding that poison into my body?

I got up, politely said, “No Thank You,” walked out, and never looked back.

Whenyoutakeastepback, andlookatthefactsinalogicalway, doesit reallymakesensetoinsertapoisoninabodythatisalreadyweakand compromised? The dismal statistics of chemotherapeutic agents speak forthemselves.

Chemotherapy improves your chances of survival by a meager 2%.

TheDepartmentofRadiationOncologyinSydney,Australiaundertooka study involving 22 major adult cancers and the benefits of using chemotherapytreatmentsalone.60 Theirconclusion:

The overall contribution of curative and adjuvant cytotoxic chemotherapy to 5-year survival in adults was estimated to be 2.3% in Australia and 2.1% in the USA.

In other words, with the use of chemotherapy alone, you have a 2% chanceofsurvivingyourcancer.

Butthereissomegoodnewsonthechemofront…

This study should change the standard of care for women with early stage breast cancer. But we will see how quickly the cancer industry respondstothesefindings.Unfortunately, thestudysaysthesewomen could skip chemo but they would still be treated with other toxic hormonal drugs. These drugs include estrogen blockers such as Tamoxifen, andhormoneblockingdrugs(aromataseinhibitors)suchas Arimidex,Aromasin, andFemara.

Tamoxifen doubles and even triples the risk of endometrial cancer.

Tamoxifenisanantagonistofestrogenreceptors.62 Thatmeansitblocks the estrogen receptor on a breast cancer cell. Think of an estrogen receptoronacelllikeakeyholeandtheestrogenfitsperfectlyintothat keyhole.Tamoxifenactsbybindingwith thatkeyholeonthe celland, thus, blocksouttheestrogen.

In theory, that sounds like a positive action in estrogen-driven breast cancers. While reconstruction may help a woman feel more like “herself” after breast cancer, there are also quite a few risks associated with it, especiallyconcerningthesubstancesused.

Animplantisdesignedusingastrongsiliconeelastomershellthat’sfilled with either a saline or silicone gel solution. Think of an implant like a sliver underneath your skin. It is a foreign substance that the body naturally wants to reject and this may cause stress to your immune system.

AccordingtoTheMayoClinic,84 salineandsiliconegelbothposesimilar risks:

• Pain

• Potentiallypermanentchangesinnippleorbreastsensation

• Infection

• Scartissuethatdistortstheshape

• Leakageorrupture

• Needforadditionalsurgery

According to the National Cancer Institute, women with implants are threetimesmorelikelytodiefromrespiratorytractcancer, twotothree timesmorelikelytodiefrombraincancer, andfourtofivetimesmore likelytodiefromsuicide.85

1. Your body’s potential rejection. Capsular contracture is the most common complication associated with implants.86 Basically, the body looks at the silicone elastomer shell as a foreignobjectandscartissueformsaroundit.Itisrejectedbythe immunesystem in11%ofallcasesandsurgicalinterventionis requiredinmostofthem.

2. A rare but treatable cancer. Anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL)isararecancerinvolvingtheimmunesystemthatmaybe associatedwithimplants.Intheknowncaseslinkedtoimplants, the lymphoma grew in the capsule of scar tissue around the implant.87

3. High levels of platinum. Platinumisusedtoturnsiliconeintoa softer, honey-like liquid which makes the implants feel softer. But platinum is highly toxic. It can cause respiratory and skin allergies.

4. Implants may make it more difficult to detect future cancers. 88 Mammograms are not as accurate after an implant. The good news is that thermography may help detect inflammationintheareaofconcern.

Silicone Implants

In 1992 the U.S. FDA announced a moratorium on silicone implants because of their possible link to rheumatic disease and breast cancer. However, as of 2013, certain kinds of silicone implants have beenreapprovedforuseintheU.S.89

In addition, silicone leakagecan lead toinflammation, fibrosis, and “foreign body reaction,” according to a 2007 study published in Hong Kong Medical Journal.90

Saline Implants

Sadly, there are virtually no studies that have critically looked at complications associated with saline implants. According to many experts93 aswellasanecdotalevidence, theproblemwithsalineisnotso muchwiththesubstance, butwhatcouldhappenifthevalveusedtofill theimplantisdamagedthroughtraumatothechest, likeinacaraccident orotherinjury.

If a valve malfunctions, bacteria and mold fungus can get into the implant.94 There, foreign substances can create biotoxins that can becomeneurotoxicandevencarcinogenic. Symptomscanbesimilarto those found in “sick building syndrome” caused bywater-damaged buildings.95

“Flap” Reconstruction

Usingyourowntissue usuallyfromthebelly,buttocks,and/orupper thighs to reconstruct a breast is called autologous or “flap” reconstruction. Many individuals prefer this kind of reconstruction because the tissue feels most like a regular breast and, according to conventionalmedicine, itsupposedly“lastsalifetime.”

If they did, they would have to admit that, although the visible breast cancer tumor may shrink or even appear to “die” with conventional treatment, BCSCs within the shriveled tumor have the ability to reproduceagain.

Breast cancer stem cells can be responsible for a relapse even after all “observable” signs of tumor are gone.

Stem cells are vital, for your health. These regenerative powerhouses carrythepotentialtodevelopintodifferentkindsofcells.Theyareblank slates and as such they can serve as a sort of “internal repair system,” especiallyduringearlylifeandperiodsofintensegrowth.

IT’S YOUR BODY. ASK QUESTIONS!

Ifyouhavejustbeendiagnosedwithbreastcancerorarecurrenceand are relying on mainstream medicine for the most part, more than likely you have already made an appointment to see your primary doctororoncologistaboutwhattodonext.

Remember your doctor is working for you. Many people feel timid around doctors but this is your body that you and your doctor are discussing. You have the right to ask questions and your physicians must inform you of all significant health risks associated with the treatmentstheyaresuggesting.

You also have the right to get a second opinion. If you leave your doctor’s office feeling disempowered, sad and perhaps even bullied, thenitmaybetimetoquestionyourrelationship. It’s OK to “fire” your doctor and find one that is more supportive of your goals.
