What is Prayer?
• Prayer is communication between God and man. [Acts 13:2] • Prayer is man giving God the legal right and permission to interfere in earth’s affairs. [Matthew 16:19-20; 18:18-20; 2 Chron. 7:14] • Prayer is relationship with our Father. [Luke 18:11-12; Psalm 65:2; Psalm 25:1] • Prayer is untapped power & communion with God. [Mark 9:29 & Psalm 84:1-2] • Prayer is the key that unlocks the treasures of heaven. [James 4:2]
Why should we Pray? • • • • • •
We pray to build relationship with God.[Zech.13:9; Amos 3:3] Prayer shows our dependency on God. [2 Corinthians 3:5; Zech 4:6] It is a command from God. [Luke 18:1; 1 Thess. 5:17] Prayer affirms God’s will and purposes in our lives. [Acts 13:2-3] Help us to resist temptation. [Matthew 26:41] To fulfill the divine will of God in the earth. [Matthew 26: 39; Luke 11:2]
Prayer that unlock Heaven • • • • •
Using the name of Jesus. [John 14:13-14; 16:23-24] Praying in Faith. [James 1:6-7; 5:14; Heb. 11:6;] Must be Specific. [Mark 11:23] Praying according to the will of God. [Luke 11:2] Praying the Word. [Psalm 119:2-3;John 12:49-50]
Seven Steps To A Deeper Life In Prayer • • • • • • •
Ask the Father in Jesus Name (John 16:23), not for Jesus sake. Believe that you receive (Mark 11:24). When you stand praying, forgive (Mark 11:25). Depend on the Holy Spirit to help in prayer (Rom. 8:26; I Cor. 14:14). Pray the prayer of intercession (Rom 8:26; I Tim. 2:1). Take time to pray in the spirit to build yourself up (Jude 20; I Cor. 14:15). When you pray in the spirit, pray to interpret (1 Cor. 14:13).
Hindrances to Prayer • • • • • •
Failure to forgive. [Matthew 5:23-24; 6:12-14,15] Un-confess sin. [Isaiah 59:2; Psalm 66:18] Praying with selfish desires, wrong motives and pride – [James 4:3 & Luke 18:10-14 ] Not praying in Faith – [James 1:6] Refusing to submit to biblical teaching. [Proverb 1:24-28] Satanic activity. [Daniel 10:12-13]

Intercessory Prayer Summit 2013
We salute a Man of God, a trailblazer, the anointed one, the one that has gone before us and paved the way to the presence of the LORD. This weekend there would be no “Intercessory Prayer Summit” without this great man of faith and power; but not only faith and power, a man of prayer. Apostle Boyd you taught us how to run, chase, thirst and hunger after God! For the many times you called us to 6:00 AM prayer to build a relationship with the Father, for the times that you put us on thirty, forty and even fifty day fasts, that we may not hunger after material things but hunger after spiritual things. We salute you, your great legacy, and the “impartations” that you have bestowed upon the lives of many of us attending this conference and many more to come! Your legacy lives on through your spiritual children; the ones that are running with the vision in this time and season. Your labor has not been in vain, for we shall run with Power! One thing you taught us is that
“If we have the faith, God has the power!” Man of God, we salute and honor you this weekend!
As I ponder over the many 5am prayers I’ve attended, one thing that resonates in my heart, concerning Prophetess Juanita Bynum, is a statement she would frequently say; “You can’t take no one behind the veil unless you have been there yourself.” For the countless years you have imparted into our lives through the 5AM Prayer. We honor and salute you for your diligence each Tuesday morning instructing a hungry group of seekers how to pray and take our authority as intercessors. Thank you Prophetess Bynum for showing us how to run after God, chase after His Presence, rest in His anointing, and take on the mantle of prayer and intercession. You’ve been an example to us and a Mother of Prayer. Today we celebrate you Woman of God; Prophetess Juanita Bynum!
Intercessory Prayer Summit 2013

What is Intercessory Prayer? Intercessory prayer is the act of praying for other people. The Lord instructed us to pray not only for our own personal needs but to reach out and pray for others as well. We find an example of this in 1 Timothy 2:1-6 where we are told to pray and to make intercession for all men. “Intercessory prayer,” then, is seeking the presence and audience of God in another’s stead. When we pray for the needs of others that is called “intercession” or we are said to be “interceding” for them.
The Purpose of Intercessory Prayer 1. Intercessory prayer is a working partnership with God. a. The basis of all intercessory prayer is a deep trust in Jesus’ promise that God hears and answers each prayer, and that God’s power is released into lives through this channel of his grace. 2. Intercessory prayer brings the intercessor into a deeper awareness of God’s presence. a. Prayers on behalf of others bring the discernment of mind and heart into sharper focus, enabling . . . the intercessor . . . to see more clearly the design of God’s love and to accept the wisdom of God’s holy will. 3. Intercessory prayer involves a sense of cooperation. a. ‘Without God, we cannot; without us, God will not.’ (Saint Augustine) b. God waits for our cooperation before his will is done in many situations.
The Call of an Intercessor 1. Intercessory prayer is a priestly ministry. 2. As priests, appointed and anointed by God, we have the honor of going before the Most High on behalf of others. This is not optional; it is a sacred obligation—and a precious privilege—of all who take up the yoke of Christ. 3. God needs people He can talk to and who will listen to him; in turn they need to discern His will, Word and Spirit, and be sensitive to the natural and spiritual needs of the world.
