been tracking Ol’ Saint Nick as he trots the globe delivering presents on Christmas Eve, and again this year people may track his progress online at noradsanta.org. Using the North Warning System, NORAD has inadvertently began tracking Santa on his journey, using a network of 47 installations strung across Canada and the United States. Immediately after lift off, his sleigh and reindeer are spotted on radar and are escorted by jets as he makes his way to the house of every child who holds Santa in their hearts. The Santa NORAD website says Santa usually starts at the International Date Line in the Pacific Ocean and travels west. Historically, NORAD says, Santa visits the South Pacific first, then New Zealand and Australia. After that, he scoots up to Japan, over to Asia, across to Africa, then onto Western Europe, Canada, the United States, Mexico and Central and South America. They note his route can be unpredictable due to weather. NORAD intelligence re-

ports indicate that Santa does not experience time as the rest of the world does, and suggests his trip might seem like days, weeks, or even months to Santa. “In most countries, it seems Santa arrives between 9:00 p.m. and midnight on December 24,” noradsanta.org says, but added he does not stop at houses with awake children, opting to return once they’re nestled down. Over the past 50 years, NORAD’s fighter jets (F16s, F-15s and CF-18s) have intercepted Santa many times, building a mountain of evidence supporting his existence. They estimate he is 16 centuries old, stands 5 feet 7 inches tall, and weighs approximately 260 pounds (before cookies). Based on fighter-aircraft photos, NORAD knows he has generous girth, rosy cheeks from riding in the cold weather, and a flowing white beard. NORAD has yet to observe him crash. Those looking to track the big guy on his journey this Christmas eve can do so at www.noradsanta.org, and also follow him on Google Earth. Their website states

Sudoku Here’s how it works: Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle!

fill its squad and gain valuable playing time. “I am very happy with the attitude the team has, they are very tenacious but play with respect and sportsmanship,” said coach Chloe Grant. “Because of the inconsistencies of the last few years for the team, they have a lot to learn, but certainly they possess a lot of raw talent and desire.” While there are only seven players on the squad, Grant

I dreamt of a white Christmas and what do you think happened? It’s December in Alberta, my dream of course came true. I dreamt of a shiny new BMW 3 series M model, sitting under my Christmas tree. Turns out all dreams don’t come true. Perhaps if I’d aimed a little lower. I mean, BMW is shooting pretty high, but a man needs to dream. Then again, I could never fit a Bimmer under my tree, so it’s just as well. Christmas is a time for everyone, for all mankind. We sometimes forget that, or perhaps are ignorant of the fact of Christmas. You see a Saviour was not born just so that Christians might be saved, because there was no such thing as a Christian at the time of His birth. He in fact was born a Jew, in a land ruled by pagans. The Roman Empire was the world power at the time, and they recognized many gods. On a night so many years ago there was born by a virgin, a baby whose sole purpose was to restore mankind to God. He alone could do this, for He was God, taking on the body of a human. Like so many things related to God, this is a mystery, and it requires faith to accept it. God created mankind, and He sent His only son to save mankind, not Christians not Jews, not Muslims, but all mankind. To wish someone “Merry Christmas” you are acknowledging this fact. It is our misfortune that we reserve only this tine if the year to do so. An angel of the Lord appeared and said, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.” See, that: “all” the people. The angel went on . . . “Today a Saviour has been born to you” (all the people). “He is Christ the Lord.” Today we celebrate that birth on December 25, but we must remember why that birth came about. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas. 51m

says they make up for the low numbers with athletic ability, size and attitude. “They are definitely a team that knows how to give it their all. I have often seen them play their very best in the last quarter of a game, when one would think we would have a huge disadvantage because of our small size, but they can dig deep and find some extra energy to outplay most teams when they should be exhausted,” said Grant. She adds they are very coachable. “They are good listeners and I feel as a coach they are very receptive to listening to my instructions, even in the heat of an intense play,” she said. All of her players bring something special to the court, said Grant. Stahl is a very good ball handler, has a good eye of the court, is very energetic and will give all she has until the end of the game. Darby Andrus has developed into a strong scorer, even knocking down 58 points. She has a beautiful inside shot and is extremely athletic, often playing entire games without a sub. Bailey Faubion is working the point for the Sabres. She handles stress very well and keeps the ball moving. She also has a great outside shot. Kia Bergos plays on the wing and has a great eye of the court, is very skilled at finding where we are falling apart and then communicating that to the team. She is also very tenacious. Rounding out the squad is their youngest player Madison Colberg, who plays down low. “She has a ton of raw talent, and is learning lots. She is a great defender and a great listener,” said Grant. Southpaw Kelly Memme can hit three pointers and fulfills some ball handling duties. Cheyanne Chilby plays the wing and has a very positive attitude. Coach Grant said she is one of the most vocal cheerers and is also is a great defensive player, often out rebounding posts who are a foot taller than her. Tonight the squad hits the court for an alumni game at 5 p.m.
