MAY is the perfect month to:

ANNOUNCING OUR NEW, IMPROVED

MISSION WEBSITE!!!

The Pontifical Mission Societies and Mission Office is proud to introduce our new and improved website at:

www.drvc.org/mission Aside from links to our Dominican Republic Mission, the Holy Childhood Association, and mission organizations around the world, one exciting new feature is a blog written by our director, Maryknoll Father Joseph McCabe. It is entitled “ON MISSION PATHS: REFLECTIONS ON THE JOURNEYS AND EXPERIENCES OF ONE MISSIONARY” and is sure be an inspirational tool for mission animation. We first “met” Fr. Joe some years back when he was writing his blog from Russia. Debbie DeVoe and I would read it regularly and be amazed at the challenges he faced and the obstacles he overcame. It was evident that the Holy Spirit was very much with our missionaries all around the world, even in frozen Siberia! So we look forward to reading his blogs again. He will also have a blog where other missionaries whom he knows weigh in with their experiences. In his words: “It is my hope and prayer that in some small way, those readings these reflections will come to appreciate even more the great gift of deep faith and joy that we missioners are so honored to experience each day of our lives in service to Mission ad gentes (to the nations).” Well said, Fr. Joe!

Wishing everyone a safe and blessed summer of re-creation!! ~Brenda Pistani~

Teach and pray the Rosary! It’s a month we set aside to honor Mary, and the World Mission Rosary is a beautiful way to do just that and pray for the entire inhabited world as well. A lot of catechists and teachers ask me about the World Mission Rosary when I come to speak. They are available from the National Office for a suggested offering of $5 for Children’s Rosaries, and $11 for Adult Rosaries. (There is no shipping charge.) Each decade of the Rosary is colored to recall the mission activities of the Church in the world: Green for the grasslands of AFRICA; Red for the fire of faith of NORTH AND SOUTH AMERICA (and the Caribbean); Blue for the ISLANDS OF THE PACIFIC; Yellow for ASIA, the morning light of the East; and White for EUROPE, the seat of the Holy Father. Rosaries can be obtained from: World Mission Rosary The Pontifical Mission Societies 70 West 36th St. 8th Floor New York, NY 10018

Look ahead to the next school year; it will be here before we know it!! The 2010-2011 HCA schoolyear theme is, “LORD, I PUT MY FAITH IN YOU.” (John 9:38). This year, HCA’s newsletters will be regional in focus. As such, membership materials for fall will feature Oceania and the Americas; Advent materials will focus on Asia, and Lent materials will emphasize Africa.

“We Carry Each Other” is published bi-monthly.

Heavenly Father, so many people, especially children, are still suffering in Haiti. Please bless and protect them and the missionaries who work so hard to serve them in Your name. Amen!
