TUESDAY, APRIL 5TH

Meet your tour director and board the coach as we travel to Athens, GA, proud home to the state of Georgia’s official botanical garden. On the way to Athens, enjoy an included lunch before arriving at the gardens, beginning with a stop at the Garden Club of Georgia headquarters house for a walk-through at 1:00 pm. Next, we will meet with our naturalist for a tour of this 313-acre botanical garden on the Middle Oconee River, which serves as a cultural, educational, and recreational facility and is one of Athens’ mostvisited attractions. Numerous themed display gardens include the Flower Garden, International Garden, and more. Our local expert will take us for a nature ramble through the gardens and trails that focus on natural areas and plants, flowers and trees of seasonal interest, and The Discovery and Inspiration Garden adorned with native plants. Check into our hotel and enjoy an included dinner this evening.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 6TH

After breakfast, we head over to the Trial Gardens at the University of Georgia. Here, we tour the Green House and Gardens. See the newest varieties of annuals from top plant breeders from all over the world getting ready to be transplanted from the greenhouse into the earth. After the tour, there will be some time to shop and purchase available plantings at the time. Next, we will visit the Founders Garden, commemorating the twelve founders of the American Garden Club Movement, for a tour of the house and gardens. After the tour, enjoy a boxed lunch amid the historic gardens before the journey home.
