INTRODUCTION
We started to do this activity last year because we had an assistant from America. We wanted to take advantage of her ample experience in this festival so she introduced the children to this old tradition. HOWDOWE CELEBRATEHALLOWEENAT SCHOOL?
The pupils are in their the first year of the second cycle of primary school (3rd. level). They can bring something related to this festivity to school : masks, hats, capes, fangs,.... There are five games to be played at the playground and in the english class. While they play they listen to terror film music. On the wall we put up a notice with the names of the games so that pupils know which game is played at which place. While they play they listen to terror film music. We split the children in groups of ten and they have to do all the games in a certain order. Each group has a leader who wears a card around his neck on which the teachers mark the games which have already been done. ACTIVITIES
1) BOBBING FOR APPLES: The children have to put their hands behind their back and try to take a bite out of an apple. 2) MOMMY WRAPUP: In pairs children have to wrap up a team mate as fast as possible. The first one to complete their mommy using the entire roll of paper is the winner. 3) JACKOLANTERN (with the Language Assistant): There’s a picture of the Jackolantern on the wall and we prepared the right parts of face pieces cut out of black paper of different types of eyes, noses and mouths. When it’s a player’s turn we blindfold him or her and they have to put eyes, nose and mouth on the pumpkin face. 4) PIRATES’ TREASURE:We’ve got a bucket filled with sawdust ; in which the treasure is buried consisting of scary plastic eyes. Then the children have to dig inside the treasure chest until every piece is found. 5) HORROR FILM: The children watch a trailer of the film “Bride Corpse” then they have to answer questions about it. At the end of the Halloween Party we give them halloween candies. The children enjoy this activity very much .
