DTLA 2023 SURVEY
The Dcbid
A new addition to this year’s survey was a section intended to gauge awareness of the DCBID and its services. It turns out only 42% of respondents to our survey indicated that they were familiar with our organization. Moreover, among those who said they were familiar with the BID, while 83% were familiar with our safety patrol and 66% knew about sidewalk washdowns, only 37% knew about our 24/7 Safety & Maintenance Line and only 30% knew that we actively engage in homeless outreach through our partnership with PATH.

The DTLA 2023 Survey must serve as a wake-up call that urgent action is needed for Downtown to recover fully and reach its potential as a thriving urban center. As illustrated throughout this report, DTLA plays a critical role in the local and regional economy. This is an issue for the City and County of LA, not just Downtown. With adequate support and proper policies, Downtown can heal from the impact of COVID, adapt to the new macroeconomic realities around office work, and return to the virtuous path of revitalization as a vibrant mixed-use community that began with the Renaissance and has continued over the past two decades. However, if the sentiments expressed in this survey do not lead to decisive, tangible, and sustained actions and results, we put that future in peril. As such, it is incumbent on local organizations, stakeholders, and civic leaders across the region to take the necessary steps to ensure that Downtown is a desirable place to work, live, and visit.
