The ethos of sustainable design is all about, deeply understanding the entire process from sourcing and energy and water consumption during the production process, to where the product will ultimately end up. Cradle to Grave. The MushLume Lighting Collection utilizes a sustainable crop (hemp) and combines it with a rapidly renewable living organism (mycelium) and harnesses only the power of nature to GROW the lampshades that in turn can return safely to the earth (home compostable), adding nutrients back to the soil rather than pollutants.

The MushLume Hemi Pendant is all about pushing interior lighting to the limits with a 24 inch″ diameter dome structure made from organic, sustainable and biodegradable mushroom material. It’s a sizable representation of the adaptability of this dynamic material. Also available in medium (17.5”dia).

Danielle founded her studio in 2011 with the goal to make sustainable design both accessible and attractive. With an emphasis on biofabrication and biomimicry, much of her work upholds a fundamental value of nature and embodies a systems thinking approach that benefits all life on this planet. Danielle holds a BS in Entrepreneurship and Marketing from Florida State University, a MA in Design from the Florence Design Academy and a MS in Biomimicry from Arizona State University. She also teaches courses on biodesign and biomimicry at The Pratt Institute and Parsons The New School.
