DTU: towards a sustainable future
by DTUdk
With climate change, the world is facing immense and complicated challenges. We believe these challenges call for innovative and insightful solutions. At DTU, sustainability is a key component of every programme and as a DTU student, you will work with sustainability from an environmental, economic, and social perspective.
But building a greener future is not a oneperson job. That’s why group work and crossdisciplinary projects play a crucial part at DTU. After graduation, you will be able to pursue an international career within sustainability and work with technologies that make a positive impact on people, society, and our planet.
The Blue Dot Projects
As a DTU student, you can participate in one of our crossdisciplinary DTU Blue Dot Projects and experience what it is like to work as an engineer. Every project run alongside your ordinary courses and focus on producing sustainable solutions. Luckily, there is a long line of projects to choose from! Among other things, you can work with an eco-car driving 501 km per litre, a sustainable brewery, an annual robot competition, or how synthetic biology can solve challenges within energy, environment, foods, and medicine.
Green Challenge
Green Challenge is our annual student conference, giving DTU students the unique opportunity to present their sustainable projects to a panel of experts and the world. This is your chance to apply what you have learned about sustainability, climate technology, and environmental solutions and compete for the prizes for the best project within your field of expertise.
Roskilde Festival – Powered by DTU students
Every year a field only 40 minutes from Copenhagen is transformed into Roskilde Festival – the largest music festival in the Nordics. With 85.000 guests and 30.000 volunteers, Roskilde Festival is the ideal place to test technical solutions in overpopulated areas. By participating with a project on the festival, you don’t only gain access and ETCS points, you also get the chance to see your idea come to life, present it to the festival guests and potentially develop a solution so ground-breaking that it becomes a regular part of the festival.
DTU Charter
At DTU, we believe actions speak louder than words. That’s why we have created a charter to make sure that sustainability is – and will continue to be – a crucial cornerstone of all our courses and programmes. The charter is our pledge to current and future students – it ensures that you obtain a deep understanding of sustainability and the development of sustainable solutions during your time at DTU. In addition, we promise that your education will provide you with the knowledge necessary for working responsibly with technology and for striving to make a positive difference in the world.
