EVERYONE ON EARTH COMES FROM A DISTINCT PLACE AND USES THAT SPECIFIC LOCATION TO REFERENCE THEMSELVES WITHIN THE WORLD THAT WE LIVE IN. IT GROUNDS US IN WHO WE ARE AND INFLUENCES HOW WE INTERACT WITH EACHOTHER AND OUR SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT. TO KNOW WHERE YOU COME FROM AND TO HAVE A PLACE TO IDENTIFY WITH IS A TRULY TRANQUIL FEELING. HUMANS ARE EXTRODINARY DUE TO THE FACT THAT EACH INDIVIDUAL IDENTIFIES WITH THE WORLD IN A UNIQUE WAY AND THIS DIVERSITY OR ETHNODIVERSITY IS WHAT ALLOWS US TO BE SO SUCCESSFUL. YET THIS UNIQUE TRAIT, THE VERY REASON WE ARE WHO WE ARE IS UNDER EXTREME THREAT. OVER HALF OF THE LIVING LANGUAGES IN TODAYS SOCIETY WILL DISAPEAR BY THE END OF THE CENTURY. ONE OF THE ESSENTIAL BUILDING BLOCKS OF CULTURE IS THE WAY WE COMMUNICATE WITH OTHERS AND WE CAN MEASURE THE HELATH OF OUR CULTURES BASED ON LANGUAGE. EVERY TWO WEEKS AN ELDER FROM A SHRINKING CULTURAL COMMUNITY DIES. THAT PERSON TAKES WITH THEM GENERATIONS OF KNOWLEDGE AND LIFE. MODERNIZATION AND THE DOMINANCE OF A SELECT FEW GLOBAL LANGUAGES IS SNUFFING OUT THE INHERENT DIVERSITY AND MEANING OF WHAT IT MEANS TO TRULY BE HUMAN. THE MYRAID OF WAYS IN WHICH WE CAN LIVE LIFE AND CHANNEL OUR EXPEREINCES INTO WORKS OF TANGIBLE BEAUTY IS BEING LOST FOREVER UNDER AN INCREASIGLY HOMOGENOUS SOCIETY. MY GOAL IS TO REVERSE THESE EFFECTS.

INDIGENOUS ARCHITECTURE: THE BUILT FORM IN RESPONSE TO SPONTANEOUS AND SPECIFIC ENVIRONMENTAL AND CLIMATIC CONDITIONS.
THE INDIGENOUSE AND LOCAL VERNACULAR OF THE SURROUNDING SITE WAS IMPORTANT IN THE INITIAL UNDERSTANDING OF THE STRUCTURE AND FORM I WANTED MY BUILDINGS TO TAKE. UPON FURTHER ANALYSIS ORGANIC CIRCULAR SHAPS BECAME NOTICABLY POPULAR WITH NOT ONLY LOCAL ARCHITECTURAL TOPOLOGY BUT ALSO GLOBAL INDIGENOUSE ARCHITECTURE AS WELL. THE COMMUNAL ASPECT OF THE CIRCLE AND ITS NATURAL WAY OF FORMING A CENTRAL GATHERING POINT WAS INTERESTING TO ME. THIS FURTHER STRENGTHENED THE ARGUMENT FOR THIS TYPE OF SHAPE TO BE DEVELOPED FOR THE BUILDINGS OF MY SITE. ANOTHER NOTICABLE PRACTICE WAS THE UTILIZATION OF THE EARTH AND ITS THERMAL AND STRUCTURAL POPERTIES. MANY INDIGNEOUS PEOPLE EMBEDED THERE STUCTURES INTO THE GROUND. THIS WAS NOT ONLY POPULAR WITH THEIR DWELLINGS BUT ALSO WITH THIER ART AND CULTURALLY SIGNIFICANT ARTIFACTS AS WELL. UNDERSTANDING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE CULTURAL AND ARCHITECTURAL IDEOLOGIES HELPED ME GAIN A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT I WANTED MY ARCHITECTURE TO REPRESENT TO THE USERS OF MY SITE AND HOW THEY WOULD NOT ONLY INTERACT WITH MY BUILDINGS BUT ALSO LEARN FROM THEM.
VERNACULAR ARCHITECTURE: THE SPECIFIC STYLE OF ARCHITECTURE THAT REFLECTS THE LOCAL BUILDING TRADITIONS OF A DEFINED AREA.

STUDYING AND UNDERSTANDING THE NATURAL VEGITATION OF THE LANDSCAPE ALLOWED ME TO ANALYZE THE PROPER SHURBS GRASSES AND TREES TO USTILIZE IN LANDSCAPING DESIGN AND BIO-SWALE CONSTRUCTION
ANALYZING THE SECTIONAL QUALITY OF THE SITE AND HOW MY BUILDINGS WERE TO INTERACT WITH THE ADJACENT STRCUTURES AND THE LANDSCAPE WAS CRUCIAL. BY DEVELOPING MULTIPLE STRATEGIES AND CONCEPTS OF HOW MY BUILDINGS COULD FUNCTION AND HOW THEY WERE POSITIONED IN THE EARTH ALLOWED ME TO UNDERSTAND THE MOST SUCCESSFUL DESIGN SOLUTIONS AND IMPLEMENT THEM IN MY DESIGN. THIS ALONG WITH THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO THE BIO-SWALES WAS IMPORTANT. DUE TO THE AREA BEING A PRIOR BURN SITE PROTECTION OF THE BUILDNGS WAS PRAMOUNT. INTEGRATING THE BUILDINGS INTO THE LANDSCAPE ALLOWED ME TO TUCK THEM AWAY FROM POTENTIAL DAMAGE AND KEEP THEM SAFE BY ENVELOPING THE SITE WITH PROTECTIVE LAYERS OF HYDRATED FIRE RESISTANT VEGITATION.
