The Vasa Museum
Location: Anhui,China
Architects:Marianne Dahlback and Goran Mansson with Ask Address: Stockholm, Sweden Size:34,983 Square Foot Completion:1981 City Population :789,024 (2007) The Vasa Museum is the most popular maritime museum in the world in terms of number of visitors. Located on the island of Djurgarden, the museum displays the only almost fully intact 17th century ship that has ENTRY ever been salvaged, the 64-gun warship Vasa that sank on her maiden voyage in 1628. When the Vasa Museum was built 20 years ago, it was designed to handle around 700,000 visitors per year. However, the visitor count has steadily increased since its opening and the museum currently receives more than 1.1 million visitors annually. The building have total 7 Storys, and entry is in Level 4th. There are Two Auditorium Rooms, one large and one small.
The lay of the whole village was designed according to geomantic (feng shui) ideas. It looks like the shape of a cow to Chinese people. To prevent the spread of fires and to also water the plants, laborers built a water system according to the cow design in traditional geomancy. The village centers around "the heart of the cow", Moon Pond.

Hakka Tu Lou Location: Fujian,China A tulou is usually a large, enclosed and fortified earth building, with very thick load-bearing rammed earth walls between three and five stories high and housing up to 800 people. Smaller interior buildings are often enclosed by these huge peripheral walls which can contain halls, storehouses, wells and living areas, the whole structure resembling a small fortified city. The fortified outer structures are formed by compacting earth, mixed with stone, bamboo, wood and other readily available materials, to form walls up to 6 feet (1.8 m) thick. Branches, strips of wood and bamboo chips are often laid in the wall as additional reinforcement. The result is a well-lit, well-ventilated, windproof and earthquake-proof building that is warm in winter and cool in summer.

DESIGN PROCESS At the first review, I create a 20' Height platform for the underground parking, and the basement is 10' Height above the Water Level .The fist floor is 10' Height above the street level and 30' above the river surface. The Centra area has 90' Diameter Atrium with Circle Stairs to allow walking access from the basement to the Ground LeveL Plaza. I also desinged a 100' wide street, with 4 line drive ways and two bike lanes with Gaden Barrier inbetween for safty.
DESIGN PROCESS Option A: There are three buildings-Culture Center, Museum and Administration. The Curving Space Framing will no only provide Canpoy for the Site, but also use as Solar and Rainwater Collection.

Option B: The second option of site plan is to create a man made "Topo", people can climb up and down either from street side or in the park. The Silk Road Center will create an Island Site. A floating Dome will create a canopy for the Lower Plaza while also creating Roof Garden for the above "Museum Tower".

From the Technical Reviews I have redefine my site strategy as "Water". The original sloping site has been change to a terrace garden and remove the river wall to allow water flooding the river park. There will be elevated wood path board way connect the park and the building site. I also re-discovering of the canopy roof by considering the structure firmness. The shape of the building has been covert from the geometry shape to a more former style in-order to match the platform structure underneath. The underground parking space has also been opening up to allow the direct access to the river park and allowing natural ventilation and sunlight.

TRADITIONAL CHINESE WATER MILL FOR IRRIGATION

Inspired by the traditional Chinese water mill for irrigation, the canopy ETFE membrane will collect water and the water channel deliver water in to three ponds. The water will go through bio-filtration system which will be collected by the cistern underground. The opening of parking space will also demonstrate a waterfall feature for the cooling the pleasure visit experience. The individual rota-table structure leaves and move separately in order to shade the intended spaces in summer and opening up in winter.
