The initiative is supported through active and nimble marketing tactics for specific geo-targeted markets where Council has researched a higher-than-average skillset related to current and future gaps in the local skills market. Council works proactively to ensure sustained industry and overall regional economic growth. www.dubboskills.com.au 8

• REZ expected to be ready for construction by the end of 2022.

Advantages of Dubbo’s superior solar and wind generation:

• Will unlock up to 3,000 megawatts of new electricity capacity by the mid-2020s.

• Solar farms

• Battery production

Dubbo Region natural endowments include:

• Drive $5.2 billion in private investment to the Central West Orana Region by 2030. • Provide power to around 1.4 million homes.

• 9hrs mean daily sunshine. • 18.8 MJ/m2 mean daily solar exposure. • 17.8 km/hr – mean daily wind speed (Dubbo Regional Airport).

• Support around 3,900 construction jobs in the Central West Orana Region at its peak.

• Wind farms • Pumped hydro • Manufacturing • Commercial renewable energy • Residential renewable energy • Supporting services • Circular economy • IT and data • Agriculture and food processing • Mineral processing.

PA R K E S S P E C I A L A C T I VAT I O N P R E C I N C T The Parkes Special Activation Precinct (SAP) will build Australia’s largest inland port offering significant investment opportunities for domestic and international companies. It will attract businesses and investors, support regional industries and fuel economic development.

Home to the National Logistics Hub, SAP’s location will provide suppliers access to 80% of Australia’s markets within 12 hours by road or rail, allowing products to be delivered across Australia and the world.

At less than an 80-minute drive to Parkes, the Dubbo Region is strategically placed to leverage off the Parkes SAP, allowing products to access more markets. It will provide opportunities for new industries in: • Agriculture

The Parkes SAP takes advantage of its location at the only junction of Australia’s two rail spines, the Inland Rail (Melbourne to Brisbane) and the Trans-Australia Railway (including Sydney to Perth).

• Freight and logistics • Manufacturing • Energy • The circular economy/resource recovery • Transport.
