President’s Message

President’s Message

Dear Dublin Chamber Members,

We at the Dublin Chamber often talk about everything the Chamber is doing for you, our members. If you need some clear examples of the work the Chamber does on behalf of members, you only need to check out the rest of this newsletter as we highlight just a few of the benefits of membership.

Let’s start with one of our most exciting new initiatives: the Marketing Workshop Series, which kicks off in September and runs through the end of the year. We’re bringing in experts in all aspects of marketing — email, social media, paid advertising, SEO, graphic design, even AI — so you can learn from their experience. We’re glad to be able to offer you multiple opportunities to learn from these professionals and use that knowledge to develop your own marketing plan.

On top of that, we’ll be laying out some of the benefits you and your employees can take advantage of as Chamber members. In the last issue, we gave you an overview; in this one, we’ll be getting into specifics about health insurance coverage, background screenings, payroll services and more, all offered at discounts that may allow your business to save some dollars. Stay tuned to future issues to find out more about the many benefits available!

Though it’s still a few months out, the Chamber is already gearing up for the Taste of Dublin, scheduled for Oct. 1. This event, now in its 21st year, spotlights the best restaurants, caterers and specialty food vendors. Be sure to get your tickets while you can. While you’re at it, take a look at some of our upcoming Lunch Bunch gatherings at such popular Dublin restaurants as Cap City Fine Diner & Bar and The Rail!

As my time serving as president comes to an end, I want to express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to lead our Chamber. It’s been an incredible journey. Beginning August 1st, Lisa Gutierrez will step into the role of president, bringing her expertise and passion to the table. I have full confidence in her ability to guide us forward. As we transition, I encourage all Chamber members to take advantage of the benefits available to you and participate in our upcoming events, including the Leadership Dublin Executive Program. Let’s extend a warm welcome to Lisa and continue our collective efforts to foster growth and collaboration within our business community.

Best Regards,

with Steve Browne, Chief People Officer

a People-First Workplace

Tuesday, Oct. 8 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Cardinal Health

7000 Cardinal Pl., Dublin Cost: $19

We’re excited to have Steve Browne, chief people officer at LaRosa’s Inc., for our Oct. 8 Human Resources Educational Workshop.

Browne has been with LaRosa’s for 18 years and has worked hard to humanize the company’s HR processes by creating a people-first workplace.

That means — among other things — focusing on what employees accomplish, rather than what they fail to accomplish, and centering their goals on strengths, rather than weaknesses.

We tend to spend 90% of our time on the 10% of people who create the most workplace problems, Browne says, rather than on the 90% of people who do well, and that often leads the good employees to leave while the problematic ones stay forever.

“If you’re always playing defense, you’re reacting to problems and … not focusing on the great people,” he says.
