If you’re dreaming about vacation homeownership near your favorite location, you’ve come to the right place for financing information and tips. We’re ready to help you through every stage of homeownership — as you plan to buy, when you purchase, and even after you own your vacation home.

From your mortgage application to enjoying your new getaway, we’ll be there by your side. Together, we will explore our versatile options to see what your unique situation may allow for.

•Purchase and refinance amounts up to $6 million

•The ability to close in LLC’s and Trusts

•Our re-cast feature allows eligible customers to “re-cast” or “re-amortize” their loan after making a large principal payment2; buyers will have a lower monthly mortgage payment, but they may pay more interest over the full mortgage term than they would by making a principal reduction without using the recast option

• Buyers can purchase with cash up-front and get a mortgage within 90 days of purchase2

• The ability to lend in all 50 states

We’ll help you understand the financing process to ensure you make an informed decision about your second home mortgage options. 1.

DAWN

We’re very excited to share our spring print issue starring Gal Gadot, who needs no introduction. Gadot is starring as the Evil Queen in Disney’s live-action remake of Snow White, and she’s never had more fun. The actress talked to Marshall Heyman about raising four daughters in Los Angeles, her first time singing onscreen and her brain blood clot diagnosis. Heyman also profiled a slew of on- and Off-Broadway talents from the most anticipated plays and musicals of the season.

Christina Ohly Evans traveled to New Zealand and Europe’s latest hotspots and Heyman visited Morocco’s splendors, while I enjoyed a great family ski trip in Deer Valley, Utah.

We spotlight two beautiful homes in the New York area, showcase the best new candy-colored high jewelry from Chanel, Chopard, Dior, Piaget and Tiffany and catch up with hairstylist Chris McMillan about a typical day in his busy life.

We are so fortunate to have worked with talented pros like Nino Muñoz, Jeffrey Westbrook, Emilio Madrid and Monika Lis on photo shoots that yielded stunning original visuals for our issue.

We hope you enjoy reading this issue as much as we did producing it.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

CHRIS McMillan

The hairstylist and salon owner takes us through a jam-packed day in his shoes

Southern California-born-and-raised hairstylist Chris McMillan has, for the last 40 years, been on the go, spending most of his time on airplanes and prepping clients for magazine shoots and red carpet appearances. McMillan, who calls Los Angeles home, has also owned the Chris McMillan Salon in Beverly Hills since 2002. “I have been doing hair for as long as I can remember,” says McMillan. “I used to always have an opinion on my mom’s hair and started styling it as early as seventh grade. She would go to the salon and get her hair bleached and they’d ask if she wanted it blown out, but she would never need them to style her hair because she’d come home and I would style it for her. As I grew up, my love for hair grew and I eventually went through the classic, textbook beauty school training to become a hairdresser.” Perhaps best known for creating the iconic “The Rachel” haircut for Jennifer

Aniston on Friends in the mid-1990s, McMillan has remained close friends with the actor. (Dare we forget the Allure magazine cover shoot—photographed by Michael Thompson—of the two of them topless?)

“Whether it’s a client in my chair at the salon or a photoshoot for a major brand, I show up the same way,” he explains. “I show up on time, dressed for the part and whatever might be required of me, grateful for the opportunity to even be there and excited to have fun and play with hair.”

The stylist has worked with many of his celebrity clients for decades. Stars like Aniston, Bruce Springsteen, Michelle Williams, Courteney Cox and Miley Cyrus are devotees of McMillan’s impeccable taste and styling.

Here’s how the hairstylist, who lives in West Hollywood with his partner Kenny, spends a typical day.

5 A.M. I wake up, feed my dogs, Lollipop and Popsicle, and then make breakfast for myself, which consists of different things every day based on what I’m in the mood for and have prepped.

6 A.M. I pick up a three-shot oat milk latte from Starbucks to drink on my way to my gym, Heimat.

6:30 A.M. I spend an hour every morning working out with my trainer.

8 A.M. I arrive at the salon with my assistant, Caden, and we get ready for the day. I’ll typically see anywhere from 8–12 clients at the salon daily. A lot of people don’t even realize I’m in the salon most days; I work four or five days in the salon every week.

9 A.M.– 5:30 P.M. I start the day by cutting men’s hair every morning (it takes less time, since it’s short) and then start bringing in my female clients for the remainder of the day. I’m back-to-back the entire time at the salon, so I typically skip lunch. All of my clients are close friends of mine at this point because I’ve been working with them for years. I don’t take new clients, really, so I’ve been lucky that I’ve been able to grow really fun and authentic relationships with each person in my chair.

BEAUTY

6 P.M. I get home from the salon and spend some time with my partner catching up about our days. Sometimes I like to pick a playful fight with him so he stops working early and we can have dinner together. Both Kenny and I meal prep, so we will sit in the kitchen and have our dinner together or we’ll go out to eat somewhere. My favorite restaurant right now is South Beverly Grill. Kenny I will always order the Osaka-style pressed sushi, Thai chicken noodle salad, famous French dip and I finish with a hot fudge sundae.

8 P.M. I relax and get ready for bed with a shower and turn on whatever show or movie I’m obsessed with at that moment. Tonight, I’m going to watch Flow, the animated movie that came out a few months ago, because all my clients were saying how amazing it is. It usually takes me a while to finish shows or movies because after I get in bed, I fall asleep within 15 minutes. Before I go to bed, I always use La Mer The Essence Foaming Cleanser, Crème de la Mer Moisturizing Cream, Dr. Hauschka Eye Balm and Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. Recently, I’ve been obsessed with the Topicals Faded Under Eye Masks. ■

CHRIS’ HAIRCARE GO-TOS

“A great shampoo and conditioner are a must. I start every style with freshly shampooed and conditioned hair. I love to use a blow dry spray to saturate the hair, coating every inch so when I blow hair out it’s smooth and frizz-free. Then I have to use hairspray—I use hairspray on every client. Hairspray can be used in so many ways that people don’t even realize. I love to target the root to give volume, spray before using flat or curling irons to protect the hair, or as a traditional finishing spray to set the hair at the end. Lastly, I love running a paste or a balm through hair to give it that sexy, messy texture and take the preciousness out of it.”

POWERFUL PRODUCTS

The most exciting launches in skincare, fragrance and hair

1 La Prairie is debuting its new New Skin Caviar Liquid Lift , now augmented with Caviar Micro-Nutrients—a decadent blend of more than 300 natural nutrients that help support skin’s metabolic pathways. The first and only transformative caviar serum, which originally debuted in 2012, gives an instant and enduring lifting effect. The formula is also enriched with peptides to promote collagen production and hyaluronic acid to retain moisture and protect the skin barrier. This gravitydefying serum now delivers a visible lift in just 15 minutes, as noted by over 70 percent of panelists in a self-assessment. After eight weeks of use, advanced 3D imaging technology revealed a jawline lift measuring a remarkable 1cm. laprairie.com

2 NuFACE ’s new FIX MicroWand delivers instant results with targeted treatments for eyes, lips and lines. This revolutionary new device is perfect for those who want a quick, accessible solution using the brand’s microcurrent technology and precise microspheres. The FDA-cleared wand is designed to stimulate the surface level of skin, offering a solution to clients on the go. The accompanying FIX Serum uses a proprietary NuFACE IonPlex electrolyte blend to hydrate skin, hyaluronic acid to plump skin and triple peptide complex to visibly smooth lines. nuface.com

3 Known for transformational, sciencebacked skincare driven by its proprietary Siren Capsule Technology, U Beauty just launched its first-ever fragrance, Proem Its notes are not the usual riffs on well-loved standards; it is not minimal or designed to blend into the skin, nor is it genderless. Its richly layered blend of floral, fruity and earthy notes is distinctly feminine and entirely modern. U Beauty tapped two leading fragrance authorities: sought-after nose of the moment Jérôme Epinette and fragrance legend and perfumer Roger Schmid. “In the past, I’ve had to mix fragrances to achieve

something that feels singularly ownable,” says founder Tina Chen Craig. “Now, much like we’ve done with skincare, we’re streamlining your fragrance wardrobe, saving you from having to blend multiple scents to attain something standout.” ubeauty.com

4 RMS Beauty, one of the original clean beauty brands, is expanding its skincare options with the introduction of two cleansers: Coconut Clean Cleansing Balm and Kakadu Clean Cleansing Gel Coconut Clean Cleansing Balm is an ultra-nourishing cleansing balm that transforms into a luxurious cleansing oil when water is added to melt away makeup and dissolves daily buildup. Kakadu Clean Cleansing Gel is a foaming gel-based cleanser that purifies and balances without stripping the skin barrier. Silicone-free and non-drying, this gel-to-foam cleanser gently yet thoroughly dissolves excess oil, sweat, SPF and makeup as it nourishes and reduces the appearance of pores. Packed with a powerful fusion of skin-loving clean ingredients, the microbiome-friendly formula easily removes impurities, balances, soothes and softens the skin, leaving it refreshed and radiant. “People get so attached to their cleansers,” says RMS Beauty founder Rose-Marie Swift. “What they don’t realize is that switching it up is better for their skin. That’s why we made two. We wanted to create nutrient-rich cleansers that meet our customer’s unique needs. Both of these cleansers are designed to remove makeup and excess buildup without stripping away the natural microbiome of the skin.” rmsbeauty.com

5 Doré, the French skincare brand renowned for its French pharmacyapproved gentle and effective products, is introducing Le Sérum Daily Defense Serum, a superfruit vitamin C serum. Designed for sensitive skin and powered by clinically proven ingredients (kakadu plum, linseed, meadowfoam, glycerin and

squalane), this serum is poised to become a modern essential in daily skincare rituals. It provides 24-hour hydration, soothes reactive skin, protects against daily aggressors and delivers an instant plumping effect. wearedore.com

6 Charlotte Tilbury ’s new Dark Spot Correcting Radiance Recovery Serum targets all forms of dullness and hyperpigmentation while soothing the skin barrier to maintain a naturally even, radiant skin tone. The magic formula includes potent ingredients such as vitamin C, tranexamic acid and a

biomimetic barrier shield to help brighten skin and heal and strengthen the skin barrier. Unlike other dark spot solutions, the Dark Spot Correcting Radiance Recovery Serum is gentle enough to be used on the eye area and works well under makeup due to its never-sticky, radiant, glowy finish. charlottetilbury.com

7 Suncare meets skincare in Augustinus Bader ’s new The Mineral Sunscreen SPF. This broad-spectrum, non-nano mineral sunscreen comes in a lightweight formula powered by TFC8, which protects against UVA and UVB rays and renews

the skin, preventing and reducing visible signs of aging. The sunscreen helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles, protects against sun damage and evens skin for a luminous, effortless glow. augustinusbader.com

Effortlessly line, define or cover with an angled tip designed to glide seamlessly onto lids, ensuring a flawless finish that doesn’t compromise comfort. iliabeauty.com

9 Estée Lauder x Ladurée is a limitededition makeup collection inspired by the luxurious scents, colors and textures of the French patisserie. Each piece is

thoughtfully crafted with packaging inspired by their iconic confections encased in signature green and Parisianinspired detailing. The collection includes a trio of full-size lip oils, each providing a sheer shine and up to 12 hours of hydration. The formula is lightly infused with a captivating blend of rose and vanilla scent, inspired by Ladurée’s timeless rose and vanilla-flavored macarons. The satin eyeshadow palette includes eight shades for the eyes in frost and matte finishes. esteelauder.com

10 Inspired by the bespoke approach that has earned her New York City studio a months-long waitlist, the potent products from Sofie Pavitt Face are designed to minimize steps and maximize results for

problematic skin. The line just added Omega Rich Moisturizer, a super rich, noncomedogenic cream moisturizer developed especially for acne-prone skin. Designed to deliver deep hydration and a dewy finish, it’s powered by omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids to hydrate, smoothe and balance the dermis. “I always struggled to find rich moisturizers suitable for my acne-prone clients that wouldn’t clog pores or contribute to more breakouts,” says Sofie Pavitt. “I wanted to design a moisturizer that felt rich, nourishing and deeply hydrating for acne-prone clients, with actives that would support their skin barrier and enhance their acne cleaning routine.” sofiepavittface.com

11 Swiss skincare brand Valmont has just released its Vitality Collection, a revolutionary line designed to rejuvenate cellular vitality and combat the early signs of aging. The products revitalize the skin, erasing telltale signs with cutting-edge, science-backed innovation via Silanol DNA, a groundbreaking duo of DNA and Silanol. The biologically active form of Silicium Silanol can penetrate living tissue, marking a significant advancement in improving visible signs of aging. The Silanol DNA in the Vitality Collection boosts cell growth, supporting the maintenance of optimal skin health, resilience and vitality over time. “To mark Valmont’s 40th anniversary, we have reimagined our original Energy Collection with new innovations in DNA delivery and repair,” says brand CEO Sophie Vann Guillon. “This revolutionary collection revitalizes all skin types for men and women at every age.” lamaisonvalmont.com 9

A 1904 New Jersey home was carefully renovated by design duo Mimi & Hill to honor its rich history and timeless character while adding modern functionality BY

This 1904 colonial in Short Hills, New Jersey, was thoughtfully renovated by Mimi & Hill designers Hillary Kaplan and Miriam Silver Verga to preserve its historic roots. The home is designed for both function and connection, featuring spaces tailored for family time, like cozy common areas, as well as practical additions like a mudroom. “Frequent entertainers, the family hosts everything from intimate gatherings to larger-scale events, making their home a welcoming space for friends and family alike,” says Kaplan. The designers hadn’t worked with the owners before, but their open-mindedness made the process a breeze. “Their willingness to collaborate made the entire process a success, resulting in a home that

reflects both their needs and our creative vision,” says Verga. “This home had incredible potential, with some rooms already boasting beautiful details and a stunning sense of scale. Our goal was to preserve these intact spaces while thoughtfully extending a similar flow and feel throughout the rest of the house. The result is a home that seamlessly blends its original charm with a cohesive and functional design, respecting its historic roots while meeting the needs of modern living.”

The goal of the project was to blend the graciousness and timeless charm of the home’s old-world aesthetics with the functional needs of a modern young family. “Every design choice was made to honor the home’s historic character while creating a space that feels fresh, inviting and perfectly suited to contemporary living,” says Kaplan. “The result is a harmonious balance between classic elegance and modern practicality tailored to this vibrant household.” Details like using fluted plaster walls in the family room are consistent with the early 1900s era of the home’s construction. The tiled wall and ceiling in the mudroom provide old-world ambiance, while the marble that was added throughout this home (along the window casings in the kitchen, detailings around the fireplaces and checkered marble tile on the floor) is very traditional. In addition, the wall paneling that was added to the primary bathroom has built-in details that would typically be found in a home of this age. “This project was a perfect balance of honoring the home’s historic elegance while introducing thoughtful, modern design elements tailored to the family’s lifestyle,” says Verga. “It’s a story of intentional design that marries history with modern-day living.” ■

AERIN LAUDER’S ARTFUL

ENTERTAINING

The hostess and entrepreneur offers her floral how-tos for living beautifully

Entrepreneur and hostess Aerin Lauder knows a thing or two about a life well lived. With this passion for entertaining in mind, Lauder recently published the book Aerin Lauder: Living with Flowers (Rizzoli). Inside, she shares ideas for how to bring flowers into the home, entertaining and décor. Lauder’s love of flowers is deeply personal, having been passed down from her celebrated grandmother, Estée Lauder, as well as her mother, Jo Carole Lauder. From fresh bouquets to floral patterns on wallpaper, fabric and tabletop pieces, Lauder shares the many ways she brings flowers into her homes in New York City, Southampton and Palm Beach. Whether it’s an arrangement of daisies in the kitchen to welcome friends or family for dinner or a single stem on her desk to brighten the workday, flowers are an essential part of her home and her lifestyle.

Along with tips and secrets on how to create festive arrangements, Lauder also takes readers through her homes, showing how she brings the garden indoors through her décor. Lauder’s floral designs and décor offer ideas for readers to integrate flowers into their own homes to create inviting and personal spaces.

DuJour spoke with Lauder to learn how she creates beauty at home with fresh florals.

What’s the easiest way to bring real flowers into your home regularly without much effort?

Bud vases filled with one or two stems are the most effortless way to bring fresh flowers into your home and look perfect on a desk, nightstand or even on a dining table.

How did your mother instill in you a love of flowers?

I dedicated this book to my mother because she shared the joy of flowers with me from a young age. From mini potted geranium favors at my childhood birthday parties to a bouquet waiting for me when I arrive home from a business trip, she nurtured a lifelong love of nature, flowers and all things beautiful.

What’s your favorite flower?

My favorite flower is a rose. There are so many variations of this special flower, and I love its symbolism. The original inspiration for AERIN Beauty was a pink rose, and it is still very iconic to the brand today, representing grace, happiness and gentleness.

What about your least favorite flower?

My least favorite flower is dark-colored calla lilies.

Do you have any favorite florists?

My favorite florists in New York City are Zeze Flowers and Raúl Àvila. In Palm Beach, I love Tom Mathieu, and in Long Island I love The Bridgehampton Florist. I am also so inspired by Willow Crossley, who is based in the U.K., and I try to work with her whenever I can.

FROM TOP: A pair of 18th-century Delft vases filled with sprays of spirea in Lauder’s Palm Beach home; Aerin wicker accessories on a woven wicker tray; Small bouquets of hellebores and clematis on Lauder’s husband’s desk

What’s your go-to entryway arrangement?

I love flowering camellia branches or quince in an entryway. They last a long time and are always beautiful.

Dinner tablescape?

My go-to arrangement on a dinner tablescape is a mix of white garden roses. They are timeless, neutral and not too fragrant.

Bedside arrangement?

For my bedside table, I like a small silver cup full of white flowers that I rotate, depending on what is in season. A few of my favorites are roses, lily of the valley and hyacinth.

Something small for your desk?

A bud vase of something colorful and uplifting is perfect on a desk. One or two simple stems of poppies or anemones is all you need.

What rules do you have when it comes to mixing colors?

There are no rules when it comes to arranging flowers; that is the best part. Flowers should feel effortless, whimsical and fun. It is one of my favorite ways to be creative and incorporate flowers that bring beauty and joy into both special occasions and the everyday.

How do you bring the garden into your homes in Palm Beach and East Hampton?

I love incorporating flowers that are local and in-season depending on the destination. In Palm Beach, I typically rely on more tropical florals and plants like orchids and palms. In Long Island, especially in the summer, I love cutting flowers from my garden or picking up an arrangement from the farmstand. In the summertime, there is nothing better than colorful local cosmos.

Your grandmother loved the combination of blue and white. What do you love about it?

To me, blue and white is the most timeless color combination. I was surrounded by it from an early age, and I always say that it is part of my decorating DNA. I am always inspired by nature, and I think that a soothing color palette is the best way to bring the outdoors in. While I love an arrangement of mixed white flowers, you will always find touches of blue throughout my home, my wardrobe and the AERIN collections.

From mini potted geranium favors at my childhood birthday parties to a bouquet waiting for me when I arrive home from a business trip, my mother [Jo Carole Lauder] nurtured a lifelong love of nature, flowers and all things beautiful.

Wicker and rattan are also hallmarks of your brand. How do you incorporate this texture into your designs and your home?

Whenever I’m decorating a space, I love to bring the outdoors in, and I always mix and match different colors and textures. Natural touches of wicker and straw create the most welcoming atmosphere, while still being functional. Wicker is always timeless, but when used in unique ways, it has a very modern and refined feel.

How do you entertain differently in each of your homes?

My entertaining style is very much the same, no matter the location. I always want my guests to feel welcome and comfortable, so they can relax and enjoy. New York City tends to be slightly more formal, but my inspiration stays the same. The most important part is always spending quality time with family and friends. To me, there is nothing better. ■

Meet a dozen of the great talents lighting up the New York stages this season

MARSHALL HEYMAN
PHOTOGRAPHY BY EMILIO MADRID

CULTURE

ILANA GLAZER

You know her as one half of the comic genius duo in Broad City. So what is Ilana Glazer doing in a Broadway production of Good Night, and Good Luck with George Clooney, based on the very serious black-and-white movie Clooney co-wrote and directed in 2005?

“It’s the challenge I’ve been asking for,” says Glazer, who portrays Brooklyn-born journalist Shirley Wershba, played by Patricia Clarkson onscreen. “It’s such a beautiful film and makes the hard historical truths creamy-dreamy to take in, to let it sit with the viewer.” Glazer hadn’t seen the movie until she first participated in a workshop of the play, but now she finds herself watching it “again and again.” Though it’s probably not so bad to show up to work on a daily basis with Clooney, Glazer relishes the dramatic pivot. “I get to surrender with full trust, really offer myself and let go of the control I’ve enjoyed in so much of my work,” she says.

ANDREW DURAND

For the second half of the new musical Dead Outlaw at the Longacre Theatre, Andrew Durand has to stand “dead” in a coffin for 45 minutes straight, staring right into the audience. That’s because Durand plays Elmer McCurdy, an outlaw killed in a shoot-out after robbing a train in Oklahoma in 1911. In the stranger-thanfiction true tale, his mummified corpse made quite the rounds and had an even crazier journey than McCurdy did in life.

“It’s incredibly physically, vocally and mentally taxing,” says Durand, who recently appeared in Shucked . One perk of the coffin work is that Durand gets to stare straight into the audience as “everyone is on the edge of their seat, mouths agape with shock, wonder and laughter.”

GABRIELLE NEVAEH

Prior to auditioning for a role in Stranger Things: The First Shadow, Gabrielle Nevaeh had watched the Netflix series multiple times. “Stranger Things is my favorite show,” says the 19-year-old actor, known for her role on Nickelodeon’s That Girl Lay Lay

So when she was offered the role of Patty, an entirely new character created for the play, which has already been a huge success in London, it was an “immediate” yes. “The chance to step into a universe that helped shape my love for storytelling felt surreal,” says Nevaeh, who is making her Broadway debut. “There’s something incredibly exciting about having the creative freedom to build a character from the ground up within a world I’ve admired for so long. I can’t wait for audiences to meet her and discover how she fits into this extraordinary universe.”

ABE KOOGLER

“Writing a play isn’t hard per se,” says the playwright Abe Koogler, “but it’s rare. Like, good plays don’t come along every day, every week or every year. You don’t get that many good plays in your life. I just try to stay ready.” This season, Clubbed Thumb stages Koogler’s Deep Blue Sound , which was produced Off-Broadway in 2023. It’s about a group of islanders trying to figure out what happened to a pod of orcas that disappeared from Puget Sound. Koogler, who grew up on a small island in the

Pacific Northwest, says the region is “filled with unusual characters and a lot of natural beauty. That community and its people have stayed with me even after I moved to New York.” Like in most plays, these characters are “wondering what their lives mean or have meant,” something that Koogler, a writer and father of a 2-year-old son, is likely doing himself. “I’m taking notes and doodling and getting ready for the next play to come,” he says. “Any day now.”

JOANNA GLEASON

For anyone who loves or has appeared in a production of Into the Woods, Joanna Gleason is iconic for her Tony-winning role as the Baker’s Wife in the original 1987 Broadway production, canonized in a filmed version by PBS. “My favorite memories are just how wonderful and loving and hilarious this group of people was,” says Gleason. “It was a golden time.” This season, she returns to the New York stage in Manhattan Theatre Club’s We Had a World , by Joshua Harmon, about a dying grandmother who asks her grandson to pen a play about their family. “I read this piece and felt that I had to do it,” says Gleason, who compares prepping for a performance to participating in an athletic contest. “There has not been a role like this that’s come along in a great time.”

JINKX MONSOON

She broke box office records in Chicago and played Audrey opposite Corbin Bleu in Little Shop of Horrors. Now Jinkx Monsoon, a two-time winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race, plans to conquer Gilbert and Sullivan in the Roundabout Theatre’s new Pirates! The Penzance Musical. She plays Ruth, the dotty, nearly deaf maid most famously played by Angela Lansbury in the 1983 film adaptation of The Pirates of Penzance. The operetta is known for its brisk patter songs, and, says Monsoon, “as a comedian, patter songs are my bread and butter.” As for the character, Ruth is “like me in that she’s funny without trying,” says Monsoon. “She cares for others, but not without a helping of sass and wordplay. I don’t know how many trans actresses have portrayed Ruth before, but I know I play one hell of a kooky, desperate, middle-aged woman.”

MOLLY OSBORNE

How do you know you’re a really good actor? One way is to make your Broadway debut as Desdemona opposite Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal in a new production of Othello. Molly Osborne, who moved to London at 18 to study musical theater at the Trinity Laban School of Music and Dance, made her first appearance on the West End as Tzeitel in Trevor Nunn’s Fiddler on the Roof just after graduating. She gained more notice in productions of Paula Vogel’s Indecent and the lovely musical adaptation of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. As for tackling Shakespeare in New York with director Kenny Leon, “I knew it would be a brilliant challenge,” says Osborne, who has already been deeply influenced by Washington’s “depth of research into the play and his role.” The goal, she says, is “building and reimagining Othello in a way that has never been done before.”

ELLA BEATTY

After making a splash in last season’s Appropriate opposite Sarah Paulson, which she calls a “masterclass,” 24-year-old Ella Beatty joins a starry cast for Lincoln Center Theatre’s production of a new version of Ibsen’s Ghosts. It includes Billy Crudup, Lily Rabe, Rabe’s partner Hamish Linklater and Levon Hawke (son of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman), who, like Beatty, has a distinguished pedigree. Beatty, the daughter of Annette Bening and Warren Beatty, says she was “totally floored” by the power of Mark O’Rowe’s adaptation of the play when she auditioned in October. Ibsen, she explains, “has a way of interrogating human beings that is both relentless and satisfying. So much of what Ibsen was trying to talk about we are still in the ring with as a society today.” Beatty hopes audiences will come to see Ghosts “for the same reason they did in 1882—to be excited and moved,” but, she urges, “the other actors in this play are extraordinary. Come to see them if nothing else!”

KIP WILLIAMS

After a smashing success in London, Australian director Kip Williams brings his much-heralded cine-theatrical adaptation of The Picture of Dorian Gray to Broadway. Williams has always used video in his storytelling, and in this production, Sarah Snook (Succession), with whom he crossed paths in drama school, plays all the roles—26 in total— from the famous Oscar Wilde novel from 1890. Williams purposely plays with gender, sexuality and identity, “the way in which people reveal themselves and conceal themselves through acts of performance and the multiple selves that exist within one individual.” Right now, Williams’ self is excited to be making his professional debut in New York. “It’s incredibly humbling and hugely exciting,” he says. “I’m looking out at the streets right now pinching myself.”

JASMINE AMY ROGERS

Could there be a more fun way to make your Broadway debut than in the iconic role of Betty Boop in BOOP! The Musical ? That’s what Jasmine Amy Rogers gets to do this spring, around the same time she turns 25. “At our core, we’re very similar girls,” says Rogers of the black-and-white cartoon character who made her own debut in 1930. “Sassy, goofy. I think we both really try to see the best in the world, and we want the best for others.” Rogers, who studied musical theater at the Manhattan School of Music, was initially anxious about finding Betty Boop’s high and cheery voice: “I sound nothing like her in real life, but it turns out it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be.”

ROBYN HURDER

Robyn Hurder has always dreamed of portraying Marilyn Monroe in a stage musical. Now, in the stage version of the cult television show Smash , she takes the role of Ivy Lynn (played onscreen by Megan Hilty), a Broadway actor getting to star as Monroe in a musical within the musical. Hurder says she started “manifesting” playing Ivy Lynn on Broadway as soon as she saw the television show more than a dozen years ago. Be careful what you wish for. “The role of Ivy Lynn is, and always will be, the hardest role I’ve ever done,” Hurder now says. Most of the show involves “high belting while my heart rate is around 140.” Prepping involves the daily routine of eating well, drinking 120 ounces of water, getting physical therapy and making sure “I am sleeping or at least laying flat eight hours,” says Hurder.

GRACIE LAWRENCE

“I love learning about women in music who paved the way,” says Gracie Lawrence, who stars on The Sex Lives of College Girls and leads the pop-soul band Lawrence with her brother Clyde. So, researching her role as Connie Francis in the new musical Just in Time opposite Jonathan Groff as Bobby Darin “feels like something I would have done in my spare time for fun.” (In her memoir, Francis described Darin as the great love of her life.) Lawrence also sees the role as a tribute to her grandmother, “who loved to sing and who, coincidentally, loved Connie Francis.” As nervous as the 28-year-old actor is about appearing in her first Broadway musical, “I can hear [my grandmother’s] voice in my head being like, ‘You idiot, just enjoy this .’ So for her sake and for my own, I feel like celebrating.”

Morocco MAGIC

Historic overhauls, major expansions and highly anticipated arrivals make the country one of the most exciting to visit now

Marrakech has always been on the map for luxury travelers, but it’s even more exciting in 2025. For places to stay, there are the renovation of the Four Seasons Resort Marrakech and the opening of the new Park Hyatt, a plush, meditative property somehow both nestled close to the center of town and off the beaten path. (Check out the stunning indoor pool and TFAYA, the hotel’s main restaurant, which is described as a “brasserie arabesque.”)

It has been in existence for over two decades, but the Marrakech Film Festival made a huge splash in December, cementing it as a new major stop on the awards circuit. Actors Jacob Elordi, Sean Penn and Andrew Garfield and filmmakers Luca Guadagnino, David Cronenberg, Justine Triet, Tim Burton, Todd Haynes and Alfonso Cuarón were all in attendance.

Getting to this magical city has never been easier. In October, United Airlines introduced a direct flight from New York to Marrakech, running three times a week on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays. It’s the first direct flight from the U.S.

Of course, there are the widely known landmarks you’ll see in every guidebook, like the vividly blue Majorelle Gardens and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum. You definitely want to shop in the medina, but also check out the industrial area of Sidi-Ghanem and swing by Jajjah Tea, which has a particularly colorful boutique.

There are lots of other places to see and visit in Morocco, though figuring out where to go takes more than an internet search.

Thankfully, there’s the luxury travel company Abercrombie & Kent, which opened in Morocco in 2007 and offers several itineraries in the country, including some with private aviation.

For 2025, Abercrombie & Kent is offering its newest small group journey in Morocco, a 10-day trip called Tangier & The Blue City. It’s a tailor-made trip that ends in Marrakech at the Park Hyatt, where guests can design a program that might include a cooking class with instructions on how to make one of the country’s wellknown tagines; a hiking day trip in the Atlas Mountains; and, naturally, a camel ride in the Moroccan desert, a surprisingly short car ride from the Djema el-Fna, the main square in town.

More importantly, the trip also takes you to lesser-Instagrammed places, like the kasbah in Tangier, the souks of Fez and Casablanca, where guests stay at the newly opened Royal Mansour and visit the Hassan II Mosque, the tallest in the world. The tour also goes to the country’s capital, Rabat, which has a surprising surf community and recently welcomed a Fairmont on the marina, a new Ritz-Carlton and a Four Seasons. A former 1950s landmark is now home to the 149-room Royal Mansour Casablanca, a chic, Carrara marble–clad oasis in this bustling city. Sumptuously appointed spaces—think inlaid wood, hand-carved embellishments and rich fabrics—make the perfect jumping-off point to explore the sights and souks of this magical city. Midcentury modern dining options offering everything from traditional tagines to inventive sushi draw guests and locals, while a worldclass spa with two hammams offers a serene, regenerative reboot. (royalmansour.com)

The goal for Abercombie & Kent is to show a Morocco you might not find on your own, and, of course, create a travel experience you won’t forget. You can take a jillaba or a Moroccan rug home, sure, but it’s the memories that matter. abercrombiekent.com ■

THE HOMESTEAD

At just an hour and 15 minutes from Christchurch Airport, Flockhill’s original four-bedroom Homestead overlooks Lake Pearson with the snow-capped peaks of Sugar Loaf and Purple Hill in the distance. Glass walls maximize the expansive views, while furnishings—all sourced locally—are a study in glass, stone and local wool and alpaca. Communal breakfast in the modern, blond wood kitchen is a buffet of fresh produce, yogurt and baked goods served familystyle, with eggs and more made to order. Rooms are spacious and silent, perfect for sleeping or steeping in enormous poured concrete bathtubs. No detail has been overlooked here; from Flockhill’s super-cool Toyota Land Cruisers that ferry guests around the property to the well-stocked minibars and local amenities (lanolin from their sheep is a perfect touch), to local wines and even the playlists that waft through the house at different times of day, everything has been meticulously thought out to ensure guests have a relaxing, immersive, delicious stay.

THE VILLAS

These new design-led houses from Christchurch-based Hierarchy Group open the Flockhill experience to a small number of guests, particularly families who can take advantage of interconnected suites and kitchen facilities. The light-filled villas share an architectural vernacular with the Homestead high on the hill above, with a neutral palette of grays and blues, concrete walls and charcoal bath fittings adding to the clean-lined spaces. Private decks for soaking in the alpine scenery and proximity to the outstanding Sugarloaf restaurant—as well as a forthcoming full-service spa— are also pluses.

FINE DINING

The culinary scene at Flockhill is by no means fancy or fussy, but it is creative and simply delicious. From in-house dining at the Homestead, where New Zealand lamb, kingfish, freshly baked breads and foraged herbs all take center stage, to the justlaunched Sugarloaf, no taste or preference is unmet. Of special note now is celebrated chef Taylor Cullen’s launch of Sugarloaf, his first solo outing in New Zealand after training at prestigious lodges including Longitude 131 in Australia and Blanket Bay. As a head chef at Sydney’s beloved Chiswick, Cullen honed a paddockto-plate philosophy where cooking is closely aligned with the seasons. Time spent in Southern California also informs his vibrant, farm-fresh preparations.

With produce and protein sourced primarily from the property, Cullen and his team of talented chefs create tasting menus that aren’t too much—perfect, light portions are tailored to the diner (Cullen has clearly seen it all and happily creates pescatarian, vegetarian, non-dairy, no-gluten and allergen-free options) with breakfasts including fruit toast with cultured butter, pancakes with local pine syrup, duck eggs with sourdough and venison sausage and more. Lunch and dinner in the calming, high-ceilinged room feature simple, satisfying basics with twists; a prosciutto, parmesan and arugula pizza is made using Cullen’s custom oven setup, while a cheeseburger with duck fat fries and aioli is perfection on a plate. More refined choices abound as well; delicate fish with horseradish and magnolia and lamb with Maori potato and macadamia are other stars. Sweets are a real strength, too, with a pavlova with native berries and almonds and sesame-infused chocolate as final flourishes.

The sleek Homestead by Warren and Mahoney offers serenity at dusk

ADVENTURE TIME

The great outdoors is the point at Flockhill—whether on land, water, mountain bike or horseback—and exploration of the Canterbury High Country is the name of the game. Being in the southern hemisphere, everything from the constellations to the endangered kea (colorful alpine parrots) is foreign—and magical— for the average visitor. Days might begin with a guided hike to the local waterfall or a paddling excursion on Lake Pearson, where leaping trout and the long-necked southern crested grebe can be spotted in their elaborate dance rituals, or maybe simply with sitting still by the sleek pool, gawking at the panoramic view.

It is easy to see why the Dalai Lama once called this part of the Southern Alps “the spiritual centre of the universe.” Nowhere is that felt more than at nearby Castle Hill, which served as the setting for the final battle in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe . Dramatic limestone boulders—some with 500-year-old charcoal drawings—lush green expanses and rock faces for climbing make this a must-see. Enlist a guide to learn about the cultural and spiritual significance of the area before heading for the Cave Stream Scenic Reserve, where intrepid hikers can explore dark caves and waterfalls. Flockhill’s expert guides are also on hand for fly fishing on nearby Broken River and Winding Stream, e-biking tours and backcountry and downhill skiing on one of six neighboring “ski fields.” Best of all, perhaps, is a guided helicopter tour where you get a real sense of the magnitude of Flock Hill Station. From the meandering, bright blue glacial rivers to the endless fields of tussock, this is certainly one of the most memorable, awe-inspiring, once-in-a-lifetime South Island experiences. ■

What Makes Deer Valley So Special?

The Utah resort prepares to become one of the largest—and most exciting—ski resorts in North America

Deer Valley is on track to double its overall skiable terrain by the 2025–2026 season, positioning itself as one of North America’s largest ski resorts. The current season marks a pivotal moment in the resort’s history as the first terrain and new chairlifts in the resort’s ambitious expansion are now open. The development of Deer Valley East Village, significant skier terrain expansion and a reimagined Snow Park including a new base village, alongside the revitalization of existing mountain facilities, is nothing short of amazing.

“This season is just the beginning of what’s to come as we enhance our mountain experience while preserving the excellent service and attention to detail our guests expect,” says Todd Bennett, president and COO of Deer Valley. Future phases of the “Expanded Excellence” plan will introduce six additional chairlifts, a 10-passenger gondola, nearly 100 new trails and additional enhanced guest amenities. This winter, guests enjoyed access to the expanded terrain via three new chairlifts over 300 additional skiable acres and 20 new runs. The Deer Valley East Village expansion is North America’s first luxury alpine village to be developed since 1981. Extell Development is overseeing the development of the base area.

Deer Valley’s newest après experience, Chute Eleven, is a luxury yurt nestled next to Empire Canyon Lodge featuring signature cocktails and indulgent small bites. “Chute Eleven is yet another way for Deer Valley guests to kick back and revel in another perfect day of skiing,” says Jacob Musyt, Deer Valley’s vice president of food and beverage. “No matter where they choose to ‘cheers’ at the end of their runs, guests will receive the same attention to detail and unrivaled guest service our Deer Valley team offers at every edge of the mountain.”

New residences like Velvaere, offering direct ski-in/ski-out access, and the new Grand Hyatt Deer Valley resort with 400

luxury accommodations and exciting food and beverage offerings make this resort the gold standard. “Grand Hyatt Deer Valley redefines alpine luxury, bringing year-round adventure travel dreams to life by blending bespoke elegance, extraordinary amenities and a warm, family-friendly atmosphere,” says general manager Anthony Duggan. “Our commitment to community collaboration and connectivity helps ensure that we remain rooted in the values that make Deer Valley so special.” Surrounded by the beauty of the Wasatch and Uinta mountains, the resort’s luxurious guest rooms, suites and now sold-out residences offer a harmonious blend of contemporary design with mountain luxury and charm. Oversized windows in each room frame the iconic Rocky Mountains, Heber Valley and Jordanelle Reservoir outside, while generously sized rooms, spa-inspired bathrooms and spacious walk-in closets complete the modern luxuries inside. ■

SKI WITH A CHAMPION

Founded by American freestyle skier Fuzz Feddersen, the Ski With a Champion experience is a unique program that allows guests to spend the day skiing with one of seven Olympic athletes and includes access to the ski school lane at all chairlifts.

Gal Gadot sings and uglies up for Disney’s live-action remake of Snow White; a home with stunning views of the Long Island Sound; and the candy-colored world of extraordinary high jewelry gems

HEN GAL GADOT TOLD HER

8-year-old daughter Maya that she’d be starring in a new live-action musical version of Snow White for Disney, the girl was thrilled.

“She was so happy,” Gadot recalls. “She said, ‘Mommy, you’ll be a perfect Snow White.’”

Then her eldest daughter, Alma, revealed that their mother wouldn’t be playing the porcelain-skinned princess with a penchant for singing with bluebirds, aka the fairest of them all. “She told her, ‘She’s not playing Snow White. She’s playing the Evil Queen.’ My 8-year-old was devastated.”

For the Israeli-born Gadot, getting to show up every day as the Evil Queen opposite Rachel Zegler as Snow on set in London was a kind of dream.

“It’s something that I’d never gotten to do before, and it’s different from anything I’ve ever tried to go for. It was really, really fun,” says Gadot. “She’s not dark dark. She’s theatrical and vain. She’s a drama queen. She’s grand. She’s bigger than life, and she loves it. Kooky, campy, unhinged. And I enjoy the camp.”

Even though the character is called the Evil Queen, Gadot doesn’t see her that way. “I can’t think about a character as scary and bad,” she says. “I have to find a way to love her.” To develop the notorious villain’s dimensions, she did a lot of research about the psychological underpinnings of the original Brothers Grimm fairy tale.

“I tried to find the vulnerable places in this envious relationship between a mother and daughter. I knew what triggered her, and from that I fell in love with her,” Gadot continues. “There’s something liberating about an out-of-the-box character that doesn’t always make sense.”

For the big-budget tentpole remake, which opens in March, Gadot gets to do two things she’s never done before onscreen.

The first: sing a big musical number.

“Who knew she could sing?” you might ask. So did the film’s director, Marc Webb.

Growing up in Israel, Gadot didn’t have a lot of experience onstage or in musical theater. At 23, she appeared in Festigal, a kind of Hanukkah pantomime extravaganza for kids where she played the Little Mermaid. “I sang and danced,” she recalls. “There might be footage of it online.” (There is. It’s amazing, if reminiscent of a Eurovision contest.)

Showing up on the Snow White set for her big number, a song called “All’s Fair,” “was definitely jumping into some new uncharted waters,” says Gadot. (Mermaid pun unintended.) “But once you commit to something, you just go with the flow and trust the process. You do it once and then twice, and you become comfortable with it. It was actually really fun. I’m my biggest critic. Whatever I do, I always have a hard time hearing my voice. But I think it works for the character.”

“She’s having so much fun and can sell that delicious song,” explains Webb. “Her performance is both dangerous and fun, the perfect combination for a Disney villain. The kids are a bit scared, but they love it and want more. I think there are going to be a lot of Evil Queen costumes at Halloween this year, and we owe a lot of that to Gal.”

Jacket, $5,900, bodice, $3,500, skirt, $3,450, MCQUEEN, alexandermcqueen.com . Earring, Gadot’s own (worn throughout).

The second first for Gadot is that she gets to play ugly. Like, really ugly.

When she transforms into the Old Hag to trick Snow White into eating a poison apple, “that was the part that I most enjoyed playing,” says Gadot. This includes the four hours of prosthetics necessary to transform from beauty to beast. “People had no idea it was me. There’s something so interesting about completely erasing the way people react to me. It’s about disappearing and getting to be able to really do whatever you want to do. No expectations. It’s like you’re a blank page. I loved it.”

It’s very easy to imagine Gadot as superhuman. She’s certainly embodied it on screen, because she’s best known for her many years playing Wonder Woman in two films directed by Patty Jenkins and several ancillary DC movies. As for whether the character returns in James Gunn’s new DC universe, “I have no idea,” Gadot says. “We’ll have to wait and see.”

Now

39, Gadot served in the Israeli Armed Forces after winning the Miss Israel pageant at 19. She co-owns a healthy macaroni and cheese company called Goodles because she loved the boxed Kraft macaroni and cheese her aunt and uncle would give her every summer they visited Israel when she was growing up. “I loved it,” she recalls.

With her husband Jaron Varsano, a real estate developerturned-film producer, Gadot is also the mother to four daughters. Ori, their youngest, turned 1 in January, but it was a challenging pregnancy. She was born during emergency surgery Gadot needed for a blood clot in her brain which Gadot discovered after pushing for a simple MRI.

“I had major, major headaches,” Gadot says, adding that similar clots happen to three out of 100,000 women. “I was literally the statistics. All it takes is to be aware of the symptoms.”

The point, Gadot adds, is she’s not indestructible. “I’m not superhuman. I’m not perfect. I’m not a cyborg,” she says. A year later, “I’m feeling great. I came out of it with not even a scratch. And the emotional, physical and mental growth made me all the more grateful for life and the simple moments.”

Of course, most of those moments involve spending time with her husband and kids. Though Gadot is extremely close to her much younger sister, the house “was very, very quiet” when she was growing up, she says. Because of the age difference, it often felt as if they were only children. She was jealous of friends with big families and lots of siblings.

“I wanted to have a messy home with mayhem and all that,” Gadot explains. And, indeed, with four daughters between the ages of 1 and 13, “it’s mayhem,” Gadot laughs. “If you come to my house, they laugh, they fight, they cry. It’s a whole range of emotions, and I love it. Yes, it’s a lot. I juggle. I do my best and we have help and my husband does the best

job as a dad. I don’t sleep a lot.” (She says she’ll get six hours “on a good night.”)

A major takeaway from Snow White is that beauty is only skin deep.

“I think what the movie challenges is how exactly to define beauty,” says Webb, the film’s director. “For the Queen, beauty is external. For Snow White, beauty is measured by a feeling of kindness and connection to her people.”

With four daughters growing up in a TikTok-obsessed world, it’s a distinction that must resonate in Gadot’s house. “I always tell my kids that for me, growing up was so much easier than it is for you,” Gadot says. “They grew up with all these filters. With curated postings. They think it’s real, not knowing that it’s been totally filtered and retouched. I tell them, ‘Whatever you see out there, it’s false, not true.’ It’s a very confusing world for a girl.”

To that end, Gadot tries to find iconic female characters to play, in part to create indelible onscreen role models that transcend time. She’s been developing a project about Cleopatra for years. Another series in development was about the Austrian actress Hedy Lamarr, who not only had a storied career in Hollywood but also co-invented a radio guidance system to prevent radio jamming during WWII.

“It was too expensive to film,” says Gadot of the Lamarr project. “But I’m drawn to strong, inspiring, groundbreaking women. I have this urge to celebrate them and tell their story the right way.”

Gadot is currently learning how to run for a project she’ll start filming this spring, The Runner. “I’m very athletic and I grew up doing all types of sports, but if there’s one thing I’ve tried to avoid, it’s running,” she says. “If there’s one way for me to learn to do it properly, this is it.”

Olympic sprinter Malachi Davis is coaching her, and she’s discovered that she does like it. “It’s not like suffering. I enjoy the challenge. There’s a whole science behind how to do it right,” she says. “To be honest, I’m just so grateful. I get to do what I love, and I get to learn a new skill by the best of the best.”

During her recovery, Gadot’s doctor told her to break a sweat every day. Then she found the script to The Runner, but knew she couldn’t recover in time. The film’s director, Kevin Macdonald, said they’d wait for her.

“So for the past seven months, I’ve been training and working and the universe just heard my doctor,” Gadot says. “I don’t want to sound too mumbo jumbo, but I do believe that, if we’re in movement, the path of the universe will show itself.” ■

I’M MY BIGGEST CRITIC. WHATEVER I DO, I ALWAYS HAVE A HARD TIME HEARING MY VOICE. BUT I THINK IT WORKS FOR THE CHARACTER.” “

A Fairfield County home with stunning views of the Long Island Sound

NATASHA
Photography by AMY VISCHIO

AMY AIDINIS HIRSCH HAS CREATED

a new open-plan layout for a coastal home in Fairfield County, Connecticut, inspired by the clients’ Carmel, California, home. Originally built in the 1940s colonial style, the home was a complete reimaging down to the footprint thanks to a fruitful collaboration with James Schettino Architects. Set on 100 feet of shoreline, this direct waterfront property overlooks the Long Island Sound and includes a private beach and dock. The new, modern, waterfront family home features six bedrooms and seven bathrooms and is ideal for the bicoastal couple to host their children and grandchildren or just enjoy time alone. “The previous layout had multiple levels, but the goal was to establish a smooth, one-level flow while maximizing the waterfront view with floor-toceiling windows,” explains Aidinis Hirsch. “Without expanding beyond the foundational footprint, the team created a new open plan for living.”

But this wasn’t the couple’s first time collaborating. A decade after their first collaboration, the clients returned to the design firm. “They were downsizing from a traditional-style home in the mid-country to the coastline to be closer to their children and grandchildren,” says Aidinis Hirsch. “This home was a departure from the client’s prior home, which was packed with formality, traditional furnishings and grandeur. The idea of living with less, sharing with others and appreciating the surrounding environment spurred the project. This home represented an opportunity to instill a quiet, organic, earthier approach. Using natural, organic materials was preferred to create simplicity and a sense of ease.”

The primary bedroom captures the waterfront view, as seen from a custom bed designed by Amy Aidinis Hirsch. The goal was to pull the client as close to the water as possible.
THE HOME FEELS LIKE A REMOTE RETREAT HIDDEN IN BIG SUR, CALIFORNIA, HOWEVER, IT IS ROOTED IN FAIRFIELD COUNTY.
The marble-clad kitchen is reminiscent of sand and acts as a work of art, encased in rift oak millwork. Blown-glass pendants from Articolo Studios hang above the live-edge dining table from Withers Studio.
The office and living space are extensions of each other, yet they are divided with steel doors and a double-sided stone fireplace

The direct waterfront and view of Long Island Sound was the design team’s inspiration. “The ease and effortlessness of California living alongside tactile, welcoming textures of boucle, cashmere and leather were our guide,” says Aidinis Hirsch. “The view and backdrop provided an ever-changing environment; the interior required restraint and stillness. The home exudes warmth, with Roman clay plaster walls and ceilings that reflect the light from the water, creating a calming atmosphere. Neutrality and warmth were the catalysts of our palette. It was paramount to incorporate textural applications and mixtures of nubby fabrics with soft leather and natural wood flooring. Ultimately, the home feels like a remote retreat hidden in Big Sur, California; however, it is rooted in Fairfield County.” ■

A Venetian VISION

Bottega Veneta has opened a boutique offering men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, accessories, shoes, leather goods, fine jewelry and the brand’s new perfume collection on East Oak Street. With a glass, brass and stone facade reaching over 32 feet high, the new building provides a clear street view onto both floors and an airy, luminous store space. The interior design honors the label’s Italian roots with three classic Italian materials: cement tiling on the floor and walls, green Verde Saint Denis marble distinguishing vitrines and display units and walnut fabricated into custom tables, seating and shelving. The serene environment nods to the pared-down aesthetics of Italian modernism while foregrounding the natural textures and tones of marble and wood. Soft leather seating, including in Bottega Veneta Intreccio, centers the house’s signature

material and artisanal craft. A wraparound staircase, also in walnut, leads to the store’s upper floor, where a skylit overlook is filled with plants. A VIC space is also located on the upper floor with a private dressing suite and consultation area for exclusive services. A Crowning ACHIEVEMENT

Consuelo Yznaga, the Duchess of Manchester, embodied the elegance and grace of the Belle Époque. Her father, Antonio Modesto Yznaga del Valle, hailed from Cuba and New York. She moved to Paris with her mother, becoming part of an influential circle that included figures like Jennie Jerome, Winston Churchill’s mother, and Alva Smith, later Alva Vanderbilt. In 1876, she married George Victor Drogo Montagu, Viscount Mandeville, who later became the eighth Duke of Manchester. Society quickly became enchanted with her beauty, charm and vivacity, with the Duke of Portland remarking that she “took society completely by storm.” Consuelo was the godmother of Consuelo Vanderbilt, another famous American heiress who later married the ninth Duke of Marlborough.

Her exceptional taste in jewelry made her an enduring fashion icon. In 1903, she commissioned Cartier to create the stunning Manchester Tiara, a masterpiece of design and craftsmanship. The tiara, featuring over 1,000 brilliant-cut diamonds and more than 400

rose-cut diamonds, was primarily designed using stones provided by Consuelo herself. Cartier contributed additional rose-cut diamonds and paste stones, which adorn the tiara’s delicate scrollwork at each end. Its design, which combines graduated flaming hearts and C-scrolls, was inspired by the grandeur of 18th-century French architecture and ironwork—an aesthetic championed by Louis Cartier. The tiara became a reflection of Consuelo’s refinement and Cartier’s unmatched artistry, capturing the splendor of the era.

However, the tiara’s journey did not end with Consuelo’s passing in 1909. In 2007, the British government accepted the tiara in lieu of inheritance tax after the death of the 12th Duke of Manchester, ensuring its preservation for the nation. Today, it is held in the Victoria and Albert Museum’s collection, where it continues to be admired for its exquisite design and historical significance.

The Manchester Tiara will be on display during the much-anticipated Cartier exhibition opening at the V&A South Kensington on April 12. It promises to be a dazzling celebration of the jeweler’s iconic legacy featuring more than 350 of the house’s treasures.
