norFolK, Va.—Duke suffered its first loss to Connecticut in program history in the game that mattered the most. Taking on the huskies and seeking their first-ever national title, the fourthseeded Blue Devils fell 2-0 at the l.r. hill Sports Complex in norfolk, Va. Capitalizing on two goals at the end of the first half, Connecticut took home its third national championship. “We have to execute in a corner situation against a team like Connect-

icut,” head coach Pam Bustin said. “We didn’t execute on our opportunities, which were the attack penalty corners.” Despite Duke claiming four of the first five penalty corners in the game, the huskies were the first to score. After a shot was deflected off Duke goalkeeper lauren Blazing, Connecticut’s Chloe hunnable capitalized on the loose ball, tapping in her 23rd goal of the season to put the huskies up 1-0. Six minutes later, Connecticut scored again, this time with hunnable assisting teammate Mckenzie Townsend to double its advantage heading into the locker room. Administrators, however, said that they are working to mitigate the problems. “We’ve both been woken up, me and my roommate, on a lot of occasions, especially in the mornings,” said Kilgo n resident Alex Wertheim, a senior. “Sometimes it gets so loud that once you wake up you can’t fall back asleep and so it’s been pretty bad.” Students were told that work would begin at 8 a.m. each day, but some claim that the workers start earlier.

“My friends live in a room just overlooking the construction, and they say that [the workers] start earlier than 8 a.m.,” said sophomore Carolyn Peterseim, a Kilgo resident. She suggested to the Kilgo house Council that the windows might be soundproofed, an idea brought about from conversations with friends. house Council took the idea to the administration, she said, and it is now being worked on. The windows will be soundproofed during winter break, said Vice President for Student Affairs larry Moneta. “The construction that is going on is going to take two years, so it is a long term process,” Moneta noted. “We are installing See CONSTRUCTION on PAGe 3
