Working in conjunction with Duke Student Broadcasting, Duke University Union’s first-year internship program is helping to create Duke’s own version of the popular reality show “The Bachelorette.” The show will take the form of three 10-minute episodes in which a bachelorette will choose one of her four suitors, each representing a different type of personality. Just a few days after the Blue Devils’ stunning second-round exit from the NCAA tournament, many expected NBA and transfer decisions to come early and often for Duke. And sure enough, five days after the team’s season-ending loss, two players have already announced their decisions to leave Durham early. Star freshman Jayson Tatum announced Wednesday that he will forgo his final three seasons of eligibility and declare for the NBA Draft as expected. frontcourt player when the team released the news that sophomore forward Chase Jeter will become the program’s fifth transfer since 2012. Although Tatum’s decision was essentially a formality given that the St. Louis native is projected to be a top-five pick, Jeter’s was less certain. The 6-foot10 forward came to Durham as a five-star recruit and was expected to contribute up front for the Blue Devils in each of the past two seasons. However, he struggled to crack the rotation, averaging fewer than three points and three rebounds in fewer than 15 minutes per contest in both seasons. “I have loved my time at Duke, getting a world-class education and competing alongside my brothers every day,” Jeter said

in a release. “After careful consideration, I decided it would be best for me to transfer to a school closer to home. I’ve made long-lasting relationships here and I want to thank my teammates and coaches for the support they’ve given me over the last two years.” The Las Vegas native spoke at length about how he had improved last offseason, particularly at the Adidas Nations showcase, but inconsistent play and a back surgery prevented him from making an impact in 2016-17 as Duke relied on Amile Jefferson, Tatum and Harry Giles in the frontcourt.
