Celebrating Over Three Decades of Live Music at the Library!

Seating is provided but attendees are welcome to bring their own chairs. For all ages. The music plays on, rain or shine! Performance runs from 5:30-7:00 pm.

Master Gardener Series: Seed Saving • Adults

Prepare for harvest season and plan how to save seeds. Master Gardener Amy Johnson will share information on how to save seeds and ready them for next year’s planting. Please register at duluthlibrary.org to receive the Zoom link.

Teen Adventures: Escape Enger Tower! • Ages 14-17

Level up at Enger Tower—work with your team of fellow explorers to solve puzzles and locate the clues to escape the tower in the least amount of time. Meet on the Michigan St. plaza—transportation will be provided to Enger Tower and back to the library afterwards. Registration is required—please do so on the Parks and Recreation website at duluthmn.gov/parks.

Adventure Book Club • Adults

Meet at Park Point Beach House to discuss The Death and Life of the Great Lakes by Dan Egan. Egan’s profile of the Lakes recounts how they are threatened as well as how they can be restored. Our discussion will be followed by an optional, gentle hike led by Parks and Rec. Registration required at duluthmn.gov/parks.

Ooey Gooey Science • Grades 2-5

What is a polymer? Have you heard of a non-newtonian fluid? We are going to conduct some gooey experiments to learn about those things and more in this fun, hands-on STEM program. Recommended for Grades 2–5. Registration required; please Tues. August 6 4:30-5:30 pm Green

Crochet 101 • Kids, Tweens, Teens

In this four-session series, participants will learn the basics of crochet and get the chance to create and take home a project that they have made. All supplies will be provided. Find more details and register to reserve your spot at duluthlibrary.org.

Messy Play on the Plaza • Toddler to Early Elementary

Do your kids like to get messy? Join us for messy play outside, on the library plaza. We recommend wearing clothes and shoes that can get wet and dirty. All supplies (and clean-up) provided. Fri. August 9 10:00-11:30 am Plaza

Natural Connections: Plant Magic! • Ages 8 and Up

Did you know that many of the plants we call “weeds” often actually have “magical” healing powers? We will get to know some common plants and the ways that they have been used as medicines since time immemorial, and gain an appreciation for the gifts nature provides! We will go on a library grounds plant walk, make a healing lip balm, taste test, and do some nature crafting! Geared for ages 8 to teen. Registration is required.

The Magic of Celtic Music with Willow Brae • Ages 7 and Up

Duo Andrea Stern (Celtic harps) and Laura MacKenzie (wooden flutes, concertina, whistles, bagpipes, voice) express the warm resonance of traditional music plus the joy and spark of Irish and Scottish dance tunes. Made possible by LEGACY. Ages 7 and up.

Percy Jackson Escape Room • Ages 8 and Up

Will the gods interfere with your quest or can you defend Camp Half-blood and fulfill your destiny? Unite with your fellow Demigods to solve the puzzles in 30 minutes or under! Family Storytime & Craft • Birth to Kindergarten

Let’s build early learning skills through reading, music, and art! Start the morning with stories, rhymes, songs, and movement for children birth to preschool age and their grownups. The golden acorns are under attack! Choose between the role of an extraordinarily protective tree or crafty yet thieving squirrels. Bring your phones to play as a squirrel and have the VR waiver signed to play as the tree in this VR/Mobile game.

Mending and Up-Thrifting 101 • Teens & Adults

We have our favorite clothing items and eventually, they wear out. Rather than throw them away, learn how to turn old pieces into new works of art. Learn how to apply these methods to thrifted items and make a wardrobe unique to you. Needles, thread, scissors, and fabric scraps will be provided—you bring in whatever you want mended! Celebrate self-expression, dress up, and gender fluidity through stories, rhymes, music and movement with a drag performer from local company, Zenith City Horrow.
