Mt. Royal Book Club • Adults

The Mt. Royal Book Club meets the first Wednesday of each month to discuss various fiction and non-fiction titles. In February, we’ll be reading the wildly popular novel, Daisy Jones and the Six, by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Next month’s choice will be Red at the Bone, by Jacqueline Woodson.

LIBRARY LOVE ♥ Valentines for Seniors • All Ages

Are you ready to spread some love? Stop by our Valentine Creation Station and make something showing your love for your library! We will also have cards ready to be decorated and delivered to seniors living in assisted living or nursing home settings. All supplies provided, we just need your creativity. Let’s all share the love this month!

Master Gardener Series: Winter Sowing (In-Person & Virtual)

Winter sowing is a simple seed-starting method that relies on warming spring temps to wake seeds up and begin germination. Come learn about this easy and space-saving process and get ready to start your garden SOON! There is a virtual option for attendance to this event. Neck

Pillows & Tub Tea: A Self-Care Workshop

This craft will all be about relaxation and how we can take better care of our bodies. We will be learning about tub teas and the benefits of Epsom salts. After that we’ll be making easy heating pads to help with neck and shoulder pain. The winter is stressful, so come in and learn how we can better relax!

Open Craft Afternoon

Do you like to craft but you never seem to have time? Stop in and bring your current project for some uninterrupted hours of crafting. Crafts and crafts materials will not be provided by the library, but join us for a chance to work on your project and socialize with others in the spirit of creativity!

‘Tis the season! Volunteers from the UMD VITA program will be in the Green Room, Michigan Street Level, beginning Saturday, February 4, and ending Saturday, April 1. Join us for a brief storytime—ideal for babies ages birth to 24 months—then stay for early literacy playtime and socialization.

Join us at the library for storytime! Geared for birth to pre-school age kids, we will share books, songs, and fingerplays. The focus will be on having fun and sharing the joy of learning essential early literacy skills.

PAJAMA STORYTIME (In-Person & Virtual) • Birth to Kindergarten

Children ages birth to 5 and their grown ups are invited to put on pajamas, grab a blanket, a plush buddy, and join us for a cozy evening of stories, songs, and rhymes. This is a hybrid event-we will meet in-person and on Zoom! Scan the QR code for more info and registration.

Play and Learn for Family, Friends, and Neighbor Care Providers

Are you caring for the young children of a family member, friend, or neighbor? Join us for a fun-filled event of reading, singing, and playing together with the little ones you care for! Meet other care providers, help children learn and build skills through play, and learn helpful tips. Participants will receive free books, project supplies, snacks and resources. Sessions are designed for care providers to bring children, but you can also come on your own.

Meet fellow plant enthusiasts at DPL for a plant swap! Bring one or more healthy plants to trade. Please label your plant if the type is known and bring it in a container for safe transportation. Browse through the selection of sprouts, seedlings, or well-established house plants for a new floral or herbaceous friend to take home with you.
