Happy DiNovember! Dinosaur enthusiasts of all ages, celebrate DiNovember with us! All month long, our three locations will be hosting a variety of dinosaurthemed activities. Offerings will vary and will include such things as dinosaur crafts, STEM projects, dinosaur scavenger hunts, dino bingo, a T. Rex tea party, and more. To find these dino-mite programs and activities, look for the orange raptor feet throughout the program guide!

Virtual Events and Book Clubs

Family Storytime • Birth to Kindergarten These 30-minute storytimes are for children birth to kindergarten and their grown-ups. The focus is on having fun while sharing the joy of learning essential early literacy skills. Come enjoy stories, songs, rhymes, and fingerplays! Every Wednesday 10:15-10:45 am Green Baby Storytime • Birth to 24 Months Bring your baby as we read a story together, sing some songs, and end with open play. Geared for ages birth to 24 months. Every Thursday 10:15-10:45 am Gold LEGO® CLUB • Kids & Tweens Drop in and take on a LEGO® challenge or just let your imagination guide your creations. Thurs. November 2 4:00-6:00 pm

Dinosaur EXPLORE! • Age 5 and younger It’s DiNovember and we will be exploring all about dinosaurs. Join us as we investigate, dig, and excavate for all things dino. This program is geared to children ages 5 and younger but all are welcome! Sat. November 4 10:00 am-12:00 pm Green Gaming in the Teen Space • Grades 6-12 Tweens and teens in grades 6-12 are invited to a gaming night in the Teen Space on the Superior Street level! We will have the Nintendo Switch, board games and more available for you to use. Snacks served while they last. Tues. November 7 4:00-7:00 pm Teen Space

Tabletop Game Night • Teens and Adults We’re busting out the library board games! Zoom Book Club • I’ll Be Gone in the Dark There will be a variety to choose from: This month we’re reading the true crime thriller, I’ll Be Gone in the classics like Monopoly, and more niche RoleDark: One Woman’s Obsessive Seach for the Golden State Killer by Playing Games (RPGs), like Mythical Kitties Save the Day. Builder’s Club • Kids & Tweens Do you love to build stuff? Builder’s Club will have participants creating with KĒVA® Planks, K’nex® toys, blocks, popsicle sticks, and even everyday materials! Thurs. November 16 3:00-5:00 pm Gold


Building and Saving History • Adults Duluth has many fascinating old homes and buildings. How are they being preserved or re-used? How can you learn more about a building’s history? Come to learn more from the Duluth Preservation Alliance and a few property owners who have been working to preserve their buildings and learning a lot along the way. Meet in the Local History Center on the second floor. Thurs. November 16 6:00-7:30 pm LHC Dino Crafts • Kids & Tweens We will be making paper plate dinosaurs, clay fossils, and more. There will be paint involved, so dress for mess! Sat. November 18 10:30 am -12:30 pm Green Dinoramas • Kids & Tweens Youth ages 5-12 are invited to drop in to learn about different types of dinosaurs and their habitats. Then, build your own Dinorama shoebox to take home! Program runs while supplies last. Sat. November 18 2:00-4:00 pm

Sustainable and Affordable Gifts • Adults Want to take some of the stress out of gift giving? Come and learn how to give homemade gifts that are sustainable and affordable! We will cover a variety of gifts, cards, and gift wrap with low impact on your wallet and the environment. Due to the skills necessary for this craft, this program is open only to adult participants. Tues. November 21 6:00-7:00 pm Green Teen Anime and Manga Club • Grades 6-12 Watch anime, create, play games, and hang out with others who love anime and manga! Pizza will be served while it lasts. Exclusively for teens in grades 6–12. For November’s gathering, we will be making Perler bead creations. All supplies provided; no registation needed. Thurs. November 30 4:00-6:00 pm Green

Every Wednesday 10:15-10:45 am Alcove Baby Storytime • Birth to 24 months Join us for a brief storytime, ideal for babies birth-age to 24 months, then stay for some literacy playtime and socialization. Every Friday 2:30-3:00 pm Alcove Discover Your Inner Author • All Ages You are never too young, nor too old, to start writing! Throughout the month of November, we will have story starter packs available for patrons of all ages to take and use to get writing a story of their own. Respond to the prompts, draw from your imagination, and get that creativity sparking! If you finish a story, bring it to the library by the end of the month—we will make a copy and compile all submissions in a binder for patrons to enjoy. Writing packets available: November 1-24 Story submissions accepted: November 1-30 Chess Club • All Ages Players of all ages and experience levels are invited! The first hour will be spent learning the basics and strategies to win. The second hour will be open play, so you can test the moves out. Supplies provided. Bring your own board if you like! Registration is required. Thurs. November 16 5:00-7:00 pm Evergreen Book Bingo • All Ages Bingo but make it bookish: the bingo numbers have been replaced with book covers or pictures! Cover the free space, have some easy fun, and win free books! All ages welcome. Tues. November 21 6:00-7:00 pm Evergreen Feast of the Family • All Ages Feast of the Family celebrates the stories that are created when families make and share good food together. Families often have a special “secret recipe” handed down through the generations, or a traditional dish they make to mark occasions. Please bring a dish to share that is meaningful to you along with the story of what makes it special. Together, we can share company and learn about the stories that shape our community. Bringing a dish to share is encouraged but optional for participation. Sampling food brought in by others is also optional to participation in this program. All food and drinks must be accompanied by a card listing the name of the dish and its ingredients. Any recipes and stories shared may be recorded for future reference. Royal book club meets on the first Wednesday of each month to discuss fiction and non-fiction titles. November’s selection is Born a Crime by Trevor Noah, a collection of personal stories about growing up in South Africa during the last gasps of apartheid and the tumultuous days of freedom that followed. November 1 3:00-4:00 pm Blue Twin Ports Genealogical Society: The Brown Water Navy in Vietnam • Adults Learn all about history and genealogy with the experts from Twin Ports Genealogical Society! Learn what the “brown water navy” was and it’s purpose in disrupting the transportation of illegal contraband by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam war. Attendance in person or via Zoom. Registration only required for Zoom link. Mon. November 6 6:00-7:30 pm Blue/Zoom T. Rex Tea Party • All Ages Wear your fanciest tea party attire or your best dinothemed duds to our T-Rex Tea Party! Early learning made simple.

Wellness Kit Assembly • All Ages Join us to assemble wellness kits for community members in need. Our goal is to pack 100 kits that have basic wellness items such as toothbrushes, combs, socks, and lip balms. All supplies will be provided. Donations are also welcome. Donated items must be unopened and preferably related to personal care and basic wellness. To get more ideas for acceptable donation items, visit chumduluth.org/wishlist. Wed. November 8 3:00-5:00 pm Blue Table Tour of Space • All Ages Join us on to learn about the events that led to the extinction of dinosaurs and explore the wonders of space with local astronomy expert, Eric Norland! With models of planets, galaxies, black holes, and asteroids, there’s sure to be something for everyone. All ages welcome. Wed. November 15 5:00-6:00 pm Blue Crafternoon • PreK to Grade 5 Get crafty at the Mount Royal Branch! This month, we’ll be using Perler beads to make dinosaur creations. No experience necessary. Best suited for kids Pre-K through grade 5. Fri. November 17 3:00-4:00 pm Blue

Archaeology of the North Shore • All Ages Although few dinosaurs have been discovered in Minnesota, the people who came before have left a rich history for us to discover. Join us to learn from archaeological investigator Sue Mulholland about human occupation since the glaciers retreated along the North Shore. Mon. November 20 6:30-7:30 pm Blue Sustainable Gift Tags • Ages 12 and Up This year, give gifts in a more sustainable way!
