Welcome Dulwich College Shanghai looks forward to welcoming you to the U13 FOBISIA Games 2016. The Games will be held over 3 action-packed days, from Thursday 10th March to Saturday 12th March 2016 in Shanghai. We hope you will enjoy the charm and culture of our cosmopolitan city.
Parent Liaison Each school is requested to appoint a Parent Liaison who will be the point of contact for parent supporters in your school. Cheryl Cheong, has been designated as the Dulwich College Shanghai Parent Liaison and she will coordinate with each school’s Parent Liaison for arrangements regarding transport requirements, etc. Cheryl can be contacted via email at cheryl_cheong@yahoo.com. Please do feel free to contact her if you have any questions. Parents are invited to attend the awards ceremony which will be hosted in the school theatre prior to the Gala dinner. In order to obtain a tourist visa for china you will need to contact your local embassy providing them with evidence of your flight itinerary and hotel bookings. Early contact is advisable. If you encounter any problems with your visa application and require additional supporting documentation Dulwich can offer a letter of invitation upon request. According to bilateral agreements, citizens of some countries (List of Agreements on Mutual Visa Exemption between the P.R. China and Foreign Countries) holding appropriate passports may enter China without a visa. 2. Currency The official currency of Shanghai is the Renminbi. Currency exchange is available in the airport, after customs. Most foreign currencies and traveller cheques are easily changed at banks, hotels or moneychangers. Please check the Bank of China’s website for up to date exchange rates, but as a rough guide: 1 British Pound = 9.63 Renminbi 1 US Dollar = 6.58 Renminbi

Parents’ hotel information Parents are required to make their own hotel bookings bookings for the event. We have negotiated favourable rates with the Pudong Shangri-la Hotel for parents who wish to attend the Games (1200rmb inc breakfast). The Shangrila is an upmarket hotel located in the Lujiazui district close to the Bund. Travel to the College from Lujiazui will take between 15 and 25 minutes, dependent on traffic. Metro The Metro system in Shanghai is excellent. It air-conditioned, clean and usually comfortable except during peak traffic times when carriages can become somewhat crowded. The nearest station to the College is Line 2 at the Science and Technology Museum. You would need to take a short taxi ride to the Metro but you can reach all the main shopping, entertainment and business areas of the city from this line.
Bus Rental Alternatively, a parent representative may wish to hire a coach to provide transportation between one central hotel location and the sporting venues for its parent supporters. Coaches can be 15 or 30-seater vehicles. If so, please ask your Parent Liaison to inform Cheryl and a quotation can be provided. Please note that the hire fee will be the responsibility of the parent supporters.

There are numerous taxis in Shanghai, and it is not difficult to catch a cab. Taxis are all metered and the starting fare is 14 Renminbi. Drivers will usually start the meter without prompting. Please make sure the meter is running when you are in the taxi. You are advised to take a note with your destination written in Mandarin with you, since the majority of taxi drivers are not well-versed in English communication.
