Friday evening’s much needed victory over Waterford may have eased Dundalk FC’s relegation worries but for many supporters the main topic of conversation over the last couple of weeks has been talk of a potential takeover with current US owners Peak 6 reported to be actively looking for an exit strategy. It has been reported that there are two groups interested in taking over the club with a northern Irish consortium with links to Glentoran FC owner Ali Pour fighting it out with former owner Andy Connolly who has teamed up with STATSports to try and buy the club from Peak 6. Dundalk supporters to choose who they would like to take over the club it would be a landslide in favour of the local bid with the majority of fans eager to see a local person back running the club after what has been a turbulent year under the ownership of Peak 6. Former Dundalk FC player and club legend John Murphy has no doubts that the Andy Connolly/ STATSports bid is the better fit for the club right now. “I know Peak 6 are a business and the bottom line for them is to try and get as much money as they can when selling but for the good of Dundalk FC I would urge them to sell to the local bidders.
