THE mother of a teenage boy battling brain cancer has praised her close friend for offering to raffle his Dundalk apartment in a bid to pay for life-saving treatment. Jean Woods is the former driver of the Sevens double-decker school bus on the Annagassan-Castlebellingham-Dundalk route. The Carrickmacross woman is the mother of Stephen, a bubbly 18-year-old who was diagnosed with stage 4 brain stem cancer in January. “It’s a living nightmare. Stephen had pains in his head and a stiff neck and he told me he didn’t feel well,” said Jean. “I was finishing work in Dundalk at the time but we took him to the hospital and he was sent home with anti-inflammatories. “He wasn’t fit to the leave his bed over Christmas. We called an ambulance on the 6th of January and they found a large mass in his head and he was rushed to Beaumont.” Continued on Page 2
