Zoe’s journey doesn’t end there, as she had hip dysplasia as a baby her hips where always a weak area for her. “As she has grown over the years, her cerebral palsy has caused bone deformities to her hips, knees and feet.”Zoe was comfortably walking in her Kaye walker after SDR surgery but unfortunately her muscles con tinued to tightening while her bones continued to grow.

“This will lengthen her tendons and muscles in her calf area, her team in America have agreed to do both these surgeries together, which means just one anaesthetic and one recovery, making things a little easi er on Zoe,” said Lynda.

POPULAR Blackrock man Vivian Sands has thanked his neighbours for their quick re actions after he fell and hit his head on the concrete ground outside his house last Sun day. His partner believes their speedy response may poten tially have saved his life. Vivian’s partner Monica Neacy was with him at his home in Gort na Glaise when the fall occurred and she imme diately called Vivian’s neigh bour Ellie who arrived on the scene in seconds and helped stem the flow of blood before calling the emergency services. “Vivian had a very nasty fall while out feeding his dogs last Sunday evening,” stated Moni ca. “He tripped over on to the concrete ground and sustained a nasty wound to his head and face and if it had not have been for the quick action of Vivian’s neighbours, I dread to think what might have happened,” explained Monica. “His next door neighbour Ellie came in first and then his other neighbours, Colm, Grainne and their son Fia chra arrived and were able to put him in the recovery posi tion while we waited for the ambulance. A local First Aid Responder called Martin was Vivian Sands praised his neighbours for their quick reaction thankfully with us very quickly and he was brilliant as he got to work on Vivian. “He was taken by ambu lance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where he received a blood transfusion and stitches to his face after he regained consciousness. Vivian is in his 70’s and takes medica tion to make his blood thinner and the doctors said this is why he lost so much blood. He was discharged on Monday night and is now recovering well at home.“Vivian would like to thank his neighbours in Gort Na Glaise for coming to his aid and give a special thanks to El lie his next door neighbour and to Grainne, Colm, Fiachra and also the first Aid Responder Martin who came very quickly when he received the call. If it hadn’t been for them the out come could have been fatal with the amount of blood he was losing.

bride- but also ‘Flute’ one of the mechanicals. He’s sure the audience will get a great laugh at the mechanicals antics but promises there’s plenty magic and ro mance too! Anita Guest will play his daughter ‘Hermia’. She’s stand ing up to her dad- run ning off to be with the man she really loves. For local legend Anita this play is simply a great comedy that is go ing to cheer everybody up!The remaining stage cast comprises Oliver Hanratty, Olivia McGin nity, Rodger Zyro, Mary Francis McAteer, Do lores McKeever, Sandra Shields, Jamie Linden, David Coyle, Paddy Du rnin, and Melissa Fox. Historically, produc tions by this group have featured much larger casts with an emphasis on participation and in clusion whilst seeking to maintain the highest possible artistic stand ards. In recent years a smaller cast has taken to the stage, enabling those involved to tour some of these more compact productions for the first time. These smaller numbers worked well during the Covid Pan demic when social distancing put special pressures on users of performance venues. Now with restrictions somewhat eased, En core Productions have sought to strike a bal ance by having the 12 stage actors joined by 12 additional actors who have created a series of short films that will be integrated as projections in the stage show. The film making proc ess comprised a varied series of arts workshops.
