the family of murdered Tom Oliver have been given fresh hope that justice will be served as detectives from Operation Kenova made a fresh appeal for information on the 30th anniversary of his death.

The 43-year-old farmer’s body was discovered in a layby at the junction of Tate Road and Newtown Road, Belleeks in Co Armagh in the early hours of 20 July 1991. He had been shot in the head six times. He had last been seen alive at about 1am the previous day when he was attending to a cow on his farmland.

Jon Boutcher, the former chief constable of Bedfordshire who heads Operation Kenova, is investigating a number of unsolved murders in Northern Ireland and has been working on the Tom Oliver case since 2019. Since then, he and his team have recovered new DNA evidence from Tom’s clothes and have taken a significant number of new statements while working with An Garda Siochana which they hope will help them find the person responsible for Tom Oliver’s murder.

“This is a truly horrific case in which Tom, a father-of-seven, appears to have been effectively executed. Tom’s family have endured three decades of unthinkable torment of not knowing the truth of what happened and who was responsible. I want to end this pain by giving them the answers they so desperately need and I would appeal to anyone who can help us get to the truth to come forward.

“We have made good progress with the investigation including recovering new DNA evidence from forensic

testing of items recovered during the initial investigation. But we still need more information to bring those responsible to justice.

“This case has had a long and lasting impact on the community and we want to bring some closure for them, and

most importantly for Tom’s family “We would particularly like to speak to anyone who has knowledge of what happened to Tom or saw anything unusual on the 19th July 1991.”

Detectives are particularly keen to trace a

woman who called police at about 7.40pm on the evening of 19 July 1991.

Mr Boutcher said: “Police received an anonymous phone call from a woman who said they had seen a Ford Orion at the location where Thomas was

found. That woman has never been traced and we are extremely keen to speak to her.

I understand she may have concerns about coming forward but I would reassure her that any contact would be treated sensitively and in confidence. I would

appeal to anyone who remembers seeing a Ford Orion in suspicious circumstances in that area at the time.”

Mr Oliver’s blue Ford Mark IV Cortina, registration 952 BZH, was found at 11am on 19 July in a field at Feehan’s Lane, Castlecarragh, about 400 yards from his farmyard alongside his tractor and bailer.

The keys were in the ignition. The vehicle was initially seized but it is not known what has happened to it.

Mr Boutcher added: “We also want to speak to anyone who has any information about Tom’s Ford Cortina and its whereabouts today.”

Operation Kenova was set up to examine possible criminal of-

fences relating to, or connected with, the alleged agent referred to as ‘Stakeknife’.

A statement from the Oliver family released through their solicitors stated that they finally have hope that the net is closing in on Tom’s murderer.

“The 30th anniversary brings with it mixed emotions for the Oliver family. In those 30 years the family have grieved in silence - without any meaningful investigation. There has been a catalogue of failed investigations which have been ineffective from their inception.

“After 30 years of a dignified silence, the family now have hope that the net is closing on those responsible for

Tom’s murder. Operation Kenova has now confirmed that fresh evidence has come to light which includes fresh DNA evidence. This is coupled with a focused investigation with specific lines of enquiry not just nationally, but internationally.

“After 30 years, there is now light at the end of a very dark tunnel.

The family today seek to call upon those with information to come forward and assist Jon Boutcher with his enquiries. Tom’s case is the prime example on why there can be no limitation in time for investigating a murder.

The family’s grief has no limitation; and neither can truth, justice or accountability,” read the statement.

Tragedy averted Louth beach now A tragedy was narrowly averted in Blackrock on Saturday when a group of six people who had crossed the river were rescued by a local man as the tide quickly came in.

The group which included a small baby had crossed the river just before 2pm and got caught behind the tide beyond the brake for the River Fane in Dundalk Bay. Local man Conor Hughes was walking along the promenade when he noticed the group of people and the potential danger they were in. According to Conor he called the gardaí before trying to warn the group of the danger they were in.

“I was looking out to sea and I noticed the group of people and I guess that I would be terribly familiar with how the sea works around here having lived here so long. I know how dangerous certain spots can be as the tide begins to come in and I knew straight away that these people could

be in trouble pretty quickly if I didn’t react. You want to be reacting instead of waiting in these situations so I rang the guards and ran towards them flailing my arms telling them to come back in. I knew the tide comes in very quickly at that particular time of day and I was trying to relay to them the seriousness of the situation,” explained Conor.

“They eventually seen me and pretty quickly got the picture and there was a sense of urgency from them as they began to wade back towards me. The tide was coming in very quickly and I suppose it was up to waist level as they quickly came towards me. One of the men was holding the baby up in his arms as he came across.

“Thankfully everybody got back ok and it shows just how easy it is to get cut off from the shore. I know most of the locals know of the dangers but on sunny days like we had on Saturday you get people from all over

A rescue operation was coordinated by the Marine Rescue Coordination Centre Dublin. Dublin based Coast Guard helicopter R116, Drogheda Coast Guard Unit and Clogherhead Lifeboat were tasked to the scene. All casualties were taken safely ashore and no further assistance was required.

Dundalk FC looking to get past Tallinn in Tallaght Dundalk FC will face a tough test if they get past Estonian side Levadia Tallinn in the second qualifying round of the Europa Conference League, with Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem awaiting the winners of the tie.

The Lilywhites will host Tallinn at Tallaght Stadium tomorrow evening at 8pm before the return leg in Estonia seven days later.

Dundalk played the same opposition three years ago in the Europa League first qualifying

THE manager of a Dundalk restaurant has welcomed plans for indoor hospitality in Ireland to reopen for people with evidence of full vaccination or immunity from Covid-19 from July 26 at the latest.

Katie Saarts, Manager of Rocksalt Café on Earl Street told the Dundalk Leader that she hopes to have a concrete date as soon as possible.

“It’s been pushed back so many times, at this stage we are all ready to re-open indoor dining but we need a definite date,” she said.

Anyone wanting to access indoor hospitality could do so by presenting a certificate to show they had been vaccinated or a recovery certificate to indicate they had recovered from the virus.

Francie remembered by Mountpleasant AC

Mountpleasant AC would like to pay an overdue tribute to two of our members who passed away within a short period of each other Francie Bergin and Frank Finnegan.

Francie was a lifelong member and supporter of the Club. No matter what was to be done he and his family were there to help.

He may not have been a prominent athlete but Francie worked hard behind the scenes at fundraising, bazaars and if any work needed to be done he was there.

Frank was the last surviving member of 12 athletes who travelled to Nenagh, Tipperary in 1952 and won the All Ireland Junior Championship.

He continued to be involved with the Club all his life as did the Finegan Family in general.

Both men made an invaluable contribution to Mountpleasant AC over seven or eight decades and we thank them and remember them.

Sincere sympathies also to the families of the late Margaret Eaton, Tommy Mulholland and Danny Ferguson who all passed during the pandemic and whose families were involved in Mountpleasant AC and athletics over the years.

THE owner of a Dundalk pharmacy has questioned the storage capabilities of pharmacies after the Irish Pharmacy Union called on the Health Service Executive to supply Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines to all pharmacists.

The IPU called on the HSE to supply Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines to all pharmacists to allow Covid-19 vaccinations continue without interruption, as supplies of the Janssen vaccine slow down.

Dermot Leavy of Leavy’s Pharmacy on Clanbrassil Street supports the IPU’s call but wonders how pharmacies would store the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines.

vaccines have to be stored at minus 70.

Most pharmacies have fridges which can only be set as low as two to four degrees,” said Dermot.

“It’s not cold enough for Pfizer vaccines.

There won’t be another delivery of Janssen vaccines until August.

“How can we safely store and administer the Pfizer vaccines?

Pharmacists can administer the vaccines.

Storage is the issue but it can be overcome.”

Dermot added: “We had a very positive reaction and a strong uptake of the Janssen vaccines. We’ve done 65 people from Wednesday of last week.

“We had people ring to say they got it done in another pharmacy.

We were under pressure not to waste a single vial.

“It was mainly younger people aged 18 to 35 who took the chance to get vaccinated. They want to have more freedom and vaccination is the only way to get their freedom back.”

Boy racers told to ‘cop on’ 6

Sinn Féin Councillor Antóin Watters is calling on local “boy racers” to change their behaviour and to “cop on”.

Cllr Watters raised the issue of “boy racers” in Cooley at a recent meeting of the Dundalk Joint Policing Committee.

“I’m in a group with residents and every time there’s an incident, I’m notified. There have been quite a few incidents recently but this has been ongoing for years,” he said.

“I know of one family who had to wait for an hour on the Edentubber Road while some boy racers were doing donuts.

“They were just stuck there. Something has to be done about it because it’s a nuisance for residents.”

Cllr Watters added: “We need people to cop on. There has to be a bit of engagement to see if we can address it.

“It’s been an ongoing issue and it’s not going to go away. We’ve done a lot of talking about it, now we need to deal with it.

“The way forward is to talk to them and to engage with those involved in this type of behaviour, if they are willing.”

Covid certs to arrive in August for those vaccinated in the north

EU Digital Covid 19 certificates will be issued around the start of August to people who live in the South who received their vaccinations in the North, Deputy Ruairí Ó Murchú has revealed.

The Dundalk TD said the issue had been raised with him by a number of constituents in Louth last week and he had, in turn, raised it with Minister Ossian Smyth and officials at meetings of the Oireachtas Transport Committee.

Deputy Ó Murchú said: ‘Constituents who live in Louth and who received their vaccine in the North had been in touch with me about getting an EU Digital Certificate.

‘An official at the committee said that the government had been working to ensure that people who received their vaccination in the South would have their certificates ahead of the

‘It is expected that those who live here but were vaccinated in the North would have a mechanism in the next two weeks in order for an EU digital cert to be generated for them’.

Meanwhile, Louth people ‘need to continue to be on their guard’ as cases of the Delta variant continue to rise in the county, he said.

The Sinn Féin TD said the increase in numbers in the county, and around the State, ‘show that the Covid 19 battle is not over’. He said it was ‘tempting to hope and to think that the virus is beaten’, but it is not.

Deputy Ó Murchú used the final days before the summer recess in Leinster House to highlight ‘the flaws’ in the government’s

hospitality reopening ‘half’ plan, which was opposed by most of the Opposition in the Dáil.

The Dundalk deputy said: ‘We just have not done enough. We all wanted a plan for hospitality to open for everybody and we all wanted to do it safely.

‘Talking about antigen testing being introduced at a later stage tells me, and I assume it tells others, that we have failed to do the preparatory work on this plan, whether that is for antigen testing or the rapid PCR test that exists.

‘At times NPHET gets blamed for these things but Dr. Tony Holohan has said previously to the transport committee that it is not his job to carry out pilot projects.

‘The onus should have been on the Government to carry out those pilot schemes or to communicate with

our friends across Europe who have carried out pilot tests in many sectors and in respect of reopening.

‘What we have here is a plan that will leave young people outside.

That is just not good enough.

‘We have fallen away from everybody being in this together and we have fallen away from the whole idea of equality. We have a plan that an awful lot of people do not believe is going to work.

‘There are technical difficulties with the digital Covid certificate.

The verifier app exists for airlines but the system cannot be used in bars, restaurants, hotels and wherever else.

‘What we have is half a plan that has come very late and it does not look like it will deliver.

It will neither provide health protections nor facilitate hospitality properly’.

Minister visits the Regional Skills and Training Centre

Minister Harris was welcomed by the Chief executive of LMETB, Martin O’Brien, the Director of Further Education, Sadie Ward McDermott and, the Area Training Manager, Ciarán Ó Mathuna.

On welcoming the minister, the Director of FET noted that the support of Minister Harris to LMETB and in particular to the FET sector was most welcome, that his visit to the RSTC to see the great work of our apprentices was much appreciated. The training centre in Dundalk has a long and proud history of training apprentices in the areas of Carpenter & Joinery, Wood manufacturing, Pipefitting, Plumbing, Metal Fabrication, and Motor Mechanics, along with traineeships in CAD design, Office administration, Software engineering. While off site in satellite centres the LMETB/RSTC provide training to the unemployed in many and varied courses such as HGV driving, Healthcare, Hairdressing, MOS, to name just a few, while also supporting local training initiatives in Drogheda, Dundalk, Navan, Dunshaughlin.

The Centre for Renewables and Energy Technology Gateway at Dundalk IT (CREDIT), is focused on energy efficiency and optimisation as well as Energy Storage and Supply Optimisation. The Gateway has expertise in solar, wind and ocean energy and will assist companies to make both their products and their manufacturing operations as energy efficient as possible.

The winners were selected through a rigorous evaluation process based on eligibility criteria for the call which included, but was not limited to, a strong track record of industry engagement, a significant industrial need for the new equipment, and space to service and maintain the equipment according to international standards.

Funding was based on an extensive review process which looked at the number of companies that will benefit and the criticality of the equipment to servicing their R&D needs, how access to the equipment can be shared across the technology gateway and technology centres network and current capability gaps within the collaborative research system that can be alleviated by making this equipment available.

Cllr McGeough questions cost of Annagassan junction upgrade Sinn Féin Councillor Pearse McGeough has been promised a reply to his questions on the cost of the Farm Road junction at Annagassan that had to be redone after the first attempt at an upgrade ended in dissatisfaction.

Cllr McGeough said “I appreciate that the junction was fixed after the first ‘upgrade’ but I was appalled to learn the cost overall was €200,000. As a public representative, I have a duty to ensure that citizens of Louth are getting value for money and that public funds are not being wasted.

“With that in mind, I have asked for a breakdown of the cost so we can decipher how much of that money was spent on the second re-alignment. I am also asking if there is claw back to offset some of the cost bearing in mind it was a botched job. Fundraiser to get canine companion for Ronán THE family of a Dundalk boy with Autism are hoping to raise €10,000 this month for a companion dog.

The fundraiser is being organised on GoFundMe.com by Marie Lawless, the mother of six-year-old Ronán Lawless-Clarke from the Avenue Road.

“Ronán was fouryears-old when he was diagnosed with Autism.

We knew he had extra needs, we just didn’t know what they were.

When we got the diagnosis, we were able to plan for his future,” said Marie.

Ronán had an assistant in pre-school and has been attending ASD classes in Bellurgan since November 2019.

“Earlier this year we applied to the charity My Canine Companion and were blessed to have been selected (randomly I add) to progress with the application

for a service dog to help Ronán gain safety awareness, his independence, and companionship,” states Marie on their GoFundMe page.

“In turn this would help our family unit reducing stresses and

anxieties. This charity receives no government funding so we would like to fundraise for them to try and cover the cost of what it takes to train/ care for one service dog and it’s €10,000.”

1,600 people applied to have a service dog from My Canine Companion and only 60 lucky people were selected.

“We were thrilled to be selected. The pups are allocated to families at ten weeks old. They live with the family for up to a year to bond and then they return to the training centre for four months,” she said.

From the 1st-31st of July, members of the public are being asked join Ronán’s family and friends in walking, running, cycling, or swimming 100km.

Ronán has his own challenge to raise enough euro “coins” that will cover 100m distance and he will run the 100m to prove how fast he is.

The latest figures, covering the 14 day incidence during 29th June to 12th July, reported the electoral areas in Ardee with an incidence rate of 244.9 cases per 100,000 of population, Drogheda Rural with an incidence rate of 184.6 cases per 100,000, Dundalk Carlingford 269.5 cases per 100,000 and Dundalk South with an incidence rate of 265.1 cases per 100,000 of population.

This compares to a national incidence rate of 150.8/100,000 of population.

Activities contributing to the increase in COVID-19 cases in the community include; indoor and outdoor social gatherings, sporting events, summer camps, family celebrations, house parties and onward transmission into workplaces.

Dr Augustine Pereira, Direc-

tor of Public Health North East, said:“The majority of new cases in recent weeks have been in the unvaccinated age group We are appealing to teenagers and those in their twenties and thirties in particular to reduce their social contacts and to avoid attending house parties. The 15-24 year age group accounted for almost 50% of cases in Louth last week.

This is why we are urging everyone to be extra vigilant, act responsibly, and adhere to public health guidelines.”

“Thanks to vaccines, we are close to the end of the worst impact of the pandemic, therefore we ask if you are not yet vaccinated, to please continue to manage your contacts, meet outdoors, avoid crowded settings and not to socialise indoors as you await your vaccine.”

Dr Pereira added: “If you experience symptoms of COVID-19, please isolate and seek a free PCR test as soon as possible.

Common COVID-19 symptoms of the Delta variant that is the circulating strain now also include a sore throat, runny nose or headaches. It is important at this point, for people with mild symptoms to also seek a free test.”

“If you are not yet fully vaccinated and a close contact of a person that has tested positive for COVID-19, you also need to isolate and get a free PCR test.”

Peter Fitzpatrick, said: “Louth is once more experiencing a rise in the number of COVID-19 cases.

As a community the people of Louth must work together to ensure that this virus does not take hold and shut down society.

We have been through so much over the past 15 months and now is the time to come together and work as a team to beat this latest spike in numbers. I would urge everybody to follow the public health advice and also I would urge everybody to apply and avail of the COVID-19 vaccine.”

Joan Martin, Chief Executive of Louth County Council is encouraging the people of Louth to follow all public health advice and stay safe.

“I want to particularly appeal to young people, we need you to keep up with adhering to public health advice. We know it’s hard, but it is helping to keep our communities safe. The people of Louth have shown on numerous occasions how a county with high incidence rates of COVID-19 can bring infection numbers to single-figure digits when communities band together by adhering to public health advice. Close collaboration between Public Health North East and Louth County Council will continue and be strengthened in the coming days and weeks to address the concerning trend in case numbers in Louth.”

Government to launch new strategy on domestic, sexual and gender based violence Louth Fianna Fáil Senator Erin McGreehan has welcomed Government moves to launch a new strategy on Domestic, Sexual and Gender Based Violence.

The Department of Justice will now lead the development

across government of the new strategy on Domestic, Sexual and Gender Based Violence, which will be published by the end of the year.

The third national Strategy on Domestic, Sexual and Gender Based Violence will

outline how the Government will radically improve services and supports for victims and will be the most ambitious plan to date.

District Court appearance for man accused of involvement in Lordship Credit Union robbery

A man will be brought back to Dundalk District Court today in connection with the robbery of €7000 in cash and assorted cheques at Lordship Credit Union on the 25th January 2013. During the robbery Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe was tragically murdered.

33-year old Brendan ‘Benny’ Treanor with an address at Emer Terrace, Castletown Road, Dundalk is also accused of conspiring with others to commit burglary within the state.

He initially appeared in Dundalk District Court last Thursday afternoon following his arrest earlier that day.

Judge Eirinn McKiernan was told

by Garda Sgt Noel Mohan that the accused was arrested at 9:43am on Thursday 15th July and taken to Dundalk Garda station where he was charged.

When the two charges were put to Mr Treanor at Dundalk Garda station

he made no reply. Garda Sgt Mohan said the application was that the accused should be remanded in custody.

Judge McKiernan remanded him in custody at Cloverhill prison until today (Wednesday 21st) when he will return to a sitting at Dundalk District Court.

Aaron Brady of New Road, Crossmaglen, Co. Armagh was sentenced to life in prison last October for the murder of Detective Garda Donohoe.

He was also sentenced to 14 years for armed robbery at Lordship Credit Union. Brady has appealed the conviction.

Gardaí are continuing to investigate other suspects including the remaining members of the robbery gang as well as those who provided them with logistical support. They continue to liase with the PSNI and police agencies in the US.

Phillip calls for clampdown on misuse of disabled permits Carroll Mead resident Phillip McGee has voiced his frustration at being unable to park in disabled parking spots in a number of supermarket car parks around town. According to Phillip there has been a clear increase in people misusing official disabled parking permits which causes hardship for those who really need them.

The 79-year old has difficulty walking and is often forced to park in regular car parking spaces which are a good distance away from the entrance of the supermarket. He claims that people are borrowing permits from their family members to get themselves a plum parking space at the expense of those who actually need them most.

“Over the last while I have found it especially difficult to find a disability space and I know for a fact that not everybody who is occupying these spaces for hours at a time is eligible to use these disabled parking permits. I have seen people misuse these permits with my own eyes and unfortunately when you query these incidents with the managers of the supermarkets the general response is a shrug of the

“Nobody is checking the permits and making sure that the drivers are the valid owners of these badges. I would also like to know why the permit states that you must put the side with the photograph of the owner facing down. tem by using the permits illegally.

“I know I find it difficult to walk long distances and I’m sure there are many others in the same boat and due to these disability spaces constantly being used it makes life very difficult for the likes of me.

Unfortunately, there are people misusing disability spaces and mother and baby parking spaces also.

I think mother and baby spaces at supermarkets are a great idea but I know for a fact they are not always being used by the people who they are supposed to serve,” stated Phillip.

Gardaí in Co. Louth tackled this issue in 2018 when they launched Operation Enable which aimed to crack down on motorists who were illegally parking in wheelchair accessible parking bays across the county. A fine of €150 was given to anybody found to be parking in disabled bays illegally.

Louth was the first county outside the capital to launch Operation Enable and within the first three months of it’s launch a total of 50 fines were issued to drivers who were found to be illegally using a disabled permit.

Irish Water and Council continue work to help customers impacted by discoloured water Irish Water, working in partnership with Louth County Council, are continuing with works to restore normal water supply to some customers in Dundalk impacted by discoloured water.

Irish Water and Louth County Council investigated the matter and found the substantive cause being a large burst on the network which caused sediment to be dislodged and carried through the network to the

customer tap.

Following the successful completion of repairs some customers continued to experience discoloured water. Further investigations found this discolouration was caused by the presence of manganese.

A programme of works is currently underway at the Cavanhill water treatment plant to reduce manganese levels in the final treated water which will help reduce the likelihood

of future sediment build-up in the network.

An interim Manganese treatment system is now installed and modifications to the system are underway following initial testing.

The final performance testing is expected to be completed shortly. Following the successful completion of testing to ensure the treatment system is operating with maximum effectiveness, we will conduct a network flushing pro-

gramme in Dundalk town and environs to clear the network of any remaining sediment.

Customers will be given advance notice of when these flushing works will commence.

In the meantime, customers are advised that if their water is discoloured, to continue running the tap for a few minutes to restore the clear colour.

If the colour does not restore to clear, customers

are advised not the drink the water as a precaution, and should contact Irish Water using the contact details below.

Irish Water can confirm that the Manganese levels found are not at a level that would pose a risk to health, and are continuing to decrease. Two further rounds of network monitoring were undertaken last week and all results were compliant.

We continue to closely

monitor both the plant and network in consultation with the Health Services Executive (HSE). If the situation changes, and a risk to public health arises, we will notify all affected customers immediately.

Strong performances in Cuchulainn Cycling Club

Cuchulainn’s underage riders in action in Boheremeen.

It was a big week of racing in Dundalk’s Cuchulainn cycling club. On the underage racing front, the club had 5 riders travel to Bohermeen in Co. Meath and it was a fruitful trip with Rhiannon Dolan winning the under 14 Girls race, while also placing 8th in the under 14 boys. In the same under 14 boys section, Calum McCaffrey, doing his first ever open race was 3rd, so another trip to the podium for the club. Like Calum, Connor Goss was also a first time racer the weekend and he collected a 5th place in

the under 12 boys.

The first round of the Bike Station summer league saw Newry’s Mark McParland take the win ahead of James McEneaney of 4 County Cycling Club in 2nd and Don Harte of Armagh Down Wheelers in 3rd.

First clubman home was Paul McCann in 6th position. The race was 4 laps of the challenging Sportsmans Circuit which had a long uphill stretch. Mark was very much the strong man of the night, bridging across the gap from group 3 to the leaders in group 2 to take the win.

In the support race it was that man again Callum McCaffrey who was victorious ahead of Belfast’s Eoin Homes and Barry Cassidy of Cuchulainn.

Also in action racing in the Irish Veterans league was Dale Copas, Sé Weston, David Holland, Martin Gray, Dickie Newell and Jimmy Flnn. This league has seen the club claim a lot of impressive results down through the years, however this weekend was a bit more barren on the results front, despite some very strong performances.

St Nicholas’s (Green Church) Churchyard Open Days

On Saturday 31st July and on Monday 2nd August St Nicholas’s (Green Church) Churchyard will be open to the public between 1.30 and 5.30 pm, and at 2.30 on each day there will be a short talk on the history of the churchyard and some of the memorials.

Two further open days with talks are planned for Saturday 28th August and Saturday 18th September (also 1.30-5.30 pm).

These open days will take place in conjunction with the development of a new website, dundalkchurchyard.ie, which will display first class photographic images of all memorials within the church and churchyard as well as their inscriptions.

The website will also carry additional information on some of those individuals and

Most memorials in the churchyard date from between 1750 and 1900, and commemorate many people who were influential in the economic and public life of Dundalk during much of the period from the early 18th century until the early 20th century. Street names commemorating some of these people include Clanbrassil, Jocelyn, Wrightson, Park and Crowe, amongst others.

Everybody is welcome to come and explore this lesser known aspect of Dundalk’s history and heritage.
