Inspirational Mark heads west for charity

Mark nugent has already completed the 380-mile Mizen to Malin Head and last night he began his latest adventure with a cycle from Howth to Salthill.
That would be a tough journey for even the most hardened cyclist but it is even more challenging for Mark given the fact he is paralysed from the waist down after he suffered a spinal cord injury when he was knocked off his bike by a truck on his way to training in 2016.
Mark uses a hand-bike and he cycles using his arms to propel the bike.
The 46-year old is origi- nally from Maynooth in kildare but has been living on the avenue Road in Dundalk for the past twelve years. Mark can often be seen out on his handbike around town particularly along the Inner Relief Road and he says the support he has received to date from people around town has been fantastic.
“I’ve already done the Mizen to Malin Head challenge so now I’m going across the country from Howth to Salthill to try and raise money for a charity called ‘as Darragh Did’ who have been named as the chosen charity of the annual Galway Cycle.
