Dundalk boxer, Amy Broadhurst, was given the seal of approval from Katie Taylor when the Olympic champion made a special visit to the town to recognise her latest achievement. The Colaiste Ris pupil became the second Irish female boxer to win European gold at the 2012 European Women’s Youth and Junior Championships in Poland. The first winner was Katie Taylor, who surprised Amy with a visit to congratulate her at her school last week. Amy was a member of the Irish Squad who travelled to Poland to compete earlier this month in the 57kg category. She entered the final round one point down but came back to beat her Rus-

A group of 200 angry students from DkIT gathered outside Fine Gael TD Peter Fitzpatrick’s office this week to protest against proposed cuts to grants and fee increases. The students gathered at the office beside the Dundalk Court House with banners, calling for the TD to fight for an end to policies that would put further financial pressure on students and their families. The protest was a part of a nationwide campaign by the Union of Students Ireland to prevent a €250 euro fee increase for the next academic year bringing the total to Full Story on Page 20
