Education for the next generation

Teaching children about agriculture and complex food systems is not only practical but also invaluable. Agricultural education connects textbook science, health, nutrition, economics and technology with real-world experiences and applications. That’s one more reason the Four States Ag Expo continues to focus on providing youth events and education during the three-day expo. CALF IS BACK

The Children’s Agricultural Learning Facility, better known as “CALF” is an opportunity for young people to learn more about agriculture, animals and ecosystems. Montezuma School to Farm Project will facilitate fun activities for children, including live demonstrations with chickens, goats, alpacas, donkeys and birds of prey. Children can also enjoy learning about soil health and worms, or creating a custom brand and wildflower seed bomb. BLOW AND GO BEEF SHOW

The Blow and Go Beef Show provides youth interested in showing livestock the opportunity to practice in an arena and win awards. The show is open to all youth prospect market steers and breeding animals. The special tradition helps young people raising livestock gain experience with grooming and showing techniques. Check in begins at 10 a.m., and the show begins at noon. Please contact Mary Bramwell (970) 560-3880 or Taylor Oliver (970) 739-3717 for more information. AND SO MUCH MORE!
