As DAC's largest annual fundraiser, the Durango Autumn Arts Festival would not be possible without the continued and incredible support of the many local business sponsors and donors who help make this event a high quality special experience for artists, volunteers and guests alike. DAC is especially grateful to our Platinum sponsors, Alpine Bank, the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, Legacy Properties West/Sotheby’s International Realty, The Community Foundation Serving Southwest Colorado, Ballantine Family Fund and City of Durango/Visit Durango. While the DAC is not a city entity, we are grateful for the support of the new lodger’s tax to help with plans for the future.

Dear Durango Friends and Autumn Arts Festival Guests, The Durango Arts Center (DAC) is the community hub for all things art: Visual arts, performing arts, art education and consistently engaging exhibits. The opportunities that DAC provides to people of all ages in the community, and particularly youth, are invaluable. The youth theater program and art classes provide a learning opportunity for younger children that they may not necessarily get in school. And as an education enrichment program, DAC creates a platform for youth to explore the arts and meet kids who are Durangolikeminded.ArtsCenter is a longstanding customer of Alpine Bank, and we are honored to support their important work for more than a decade now through our ARTS Loyalty Debit Card program.

We also are so appreciative to all our other sponsors listed on the back page and especially our volunteers who dedicate enthusiasm, skill and time to ensuring smooth festival operations, without whom this event would not be possible!

Beth Drum | Senior Vice President | Alpine Bank We are delighted to continue our support of the evergrowing art scene in Southwest Colorado through our involvement with the Durango Arts Center Autumn Arts Festival. We firmly believe in the power of the arts and artists to advance individual selfexpression and community involvement. Therefore, our agents support the Durango Arts Center as they create a space for our community members to shine a light on what matters most to them, to take a moment to do something creative in their own voice.

2 | AUTUMN ARTS FESTIVAL | September 17-18, 2022 WELCOME!

The Durango Arts Center (DAC) is proud to have presented this special event for 28 consecutive years, showcasing the diverse talents of artists and craftspeople who hail from our local region and from across the country. Selected through a competitive juried process, this year DAC is thrilled to have 100 booths offering our festival patrons and community so much to enjoy. This fundraiser does so many important things for our community, from providing need-based scholarships to students for art and theater programs to maintaining the DAC’s building and operations. The DAC, founded in 1966, serves Durango all year long, to celebrate the healing and connecting power of art, art education, theater and community. DAC programs are for all abilities and all ages.

The arts truly help heal us as we emerge from challenging times. Please browse around freely among the many diverse booths ranging from handwoven wool rugs to paintings inspired from nature and movement to beautiful and inspiring wooden vessels. And of course, there’s plenty of jewelry and other wearable art to choose from including pieces made from recycled silver, cabochons, handwoven beads, inlaid gemstones, guitar strings, antlers, hand-dyed fabrics, and upcycled wool.

Artists are resilient and we are so happy to be doubling down on creativity!

Organized as a benefit event by and for the Durango Arts Center, the region's premiere nonprofit arts organization, proceeds help ensure that the arts are available to all through needs-based scholarships, low theatre ticket prices and free art exhibits.

MikeJURORSScieszka is a painter and supporter of the arts and Durango community. He retired from gallery management and a career in finance with the State of Michigan. With his wife Sue, Mike now resides in Durango enjoying painting and volunteering. He serves as the President of the Durango Arts Center Board of Directors. Jo Martin is a semi-retired Registered Nurse and co-owner of Mindfold (a sleep and meditation mask company) who has a passion and love for the Arts. She grew up under the watchful artistic eye of her father (a graphic illustrator by trade and an avid fine artist in life) who influenced her exposure to art in all forms: from old jazz records and cartoon cells to French Impressionists and graphically designed posters of “french fries.” This eventually led her to start and manage a contemporary jewelry and design business. Today, she explores her passion for moving people with the power of expression and communication articulated through music, photography and graphic design.
