GAME DAY Thursdays 3 - 5 p.m. Join us for an afternoon of Xbox, Wii and board games! Light snacks will be provided. SPLIT FOCUS: PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB FOR TEENS (Ages 14-19) Thursdays 5 - 6:30 p.m. Come join us as we explore the world around us through camera and lens. Each month, this primarily student led program will focus on different topics and how they can be represented and expressed through film. Students’ work will be printed and displayed.

Location to be determined. See the Teen Librarian for more information. Kids in Grades K-6: Do you need some extra help on your homework? Apply to be a part of our tutoring program! Students and tutors meet for an hour each week to work on homework and practice reading and math skills. Applications are required. Please see Ms. Faith or Ms. Molly in the Teen Area for an application. Teens: Do you need to do some volunteer work for school? Apply to be a Teen Tutor! Come by any Durham County Library location, pick up your Winter Reading log and earn a chance to win prizes. And, back by popular demand, we’re also hosting a Winter Fine Read Down; read at the library and remove $1.00 of fines for every 10 minutes you read. We can’t wait to see you!

Time will be split between quiet reading and talking about our current and favorite books. Snacks will be provided. TEEN ZINE (Teens) Mondays, Dec. 5; Jan. 9; Feb. 6 5 - 6 p.m. Are you a writer, an artist or an editor? Join the Teen Zine staff to start North Regional’s first self-published magazine! We will meet on the first Monday of every month and publish two to three zines each year. Let your voice be heard! WRITING CLUB (Tweens) Tuesdays, Dec. 6 - Feb. 28 (No Program Dec. 27) 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. Do you have something to say and aren’t sure how to say it? Do you love telling stories, writing poems or making up your own lyrics to songs? Join the Writing Club! The Writing Club is a safe space where we can write, edit and help each other learn. 3D DESIGN CLASS (Teens) Tuesdays, Dec. 6, 13 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. Learn to use Tinkercad to design your own 3D print. The first week we will work through the tutorials, and the second week we will create unique designs. Please go to tinkercad.com to create a new account before the first class.
DIY GIFTS (Teens, Tweens) Wednesday, Dec. 7 12:30 - 5 p.m. Come learn how to make different crafts to give away or keep. We will have jewelry making supplies, paper crafts, photo coasters and more! TEEN LGBT BOOKCLUB (Teens, Tweens) Mondays, Dec. 19; Jan. 23; Feb. 20 6 - 7 p.m. This book club is a safe place where LGBT teens and their supporters can read novels that feature LGBT characters and meet other teens with the same interests. The book club meets on the third Monday of every month. Snacks will be provided. HOMESCHOOL LEARNING LAB (Teens) Thursdays, Jan. 5 - Mar. 30 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. The Homeschool Learning Lab is a program that allows homeschoolers time and space to come together in the library for social, educational and fun programming. We will have a different activity each week. Parents are always invited to facilitate a lab. *TEEN TUTORING (Teens) Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 17 - Feb. 28 4 - 6 p.m. Join the Teen Service Corp and tutor local elementary students. This is a great way to get experience tutoring, help build your community and meet new people. Plus, it’s a lot of fun! Each month we will read a different book and then meet to discuss it. This teen book club encourages members to suggest reading materials and lead in the discussions. Get your game face on—at the library! Join us for multiplayer Xbox or Wii U games, or play classic board games. Snacks will be provided!

Have you always wanted to make your own comics? Join the Tween Comics Club to read, discuss and create comics. We will meet on the second Thursday of every month, starting in January! GINGERBREAD HOUSE SHOWDOWN (Teens) Wednesday, Dec. 14 5 - 6:30 p.m. Bring your holiday cheer and creativity to create a gingerbread house in a competition with your peers! All supplies will be provided.
CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT CRAFTING (Teens) Monday, Dec. 19 5 - 6 p.m. Design and decorate holiday ornaments for your Christmas tree and enjoy hot cocoa and cookies.
TEEN GIRLS ROCK – GIRL TALK! (Teens) Wednesday, Jan. 4 5 - 6:30 p.m. Parents don’t understand? Boy troubles? Fashion no no’s or go go’s? Join other teen girls to talk about teen girl issues while enjoying an evening of learning, etiquette, fashion tips and pampering. “LET’S TALK ABOUT COLLEGE” – ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION (Teens and Adults) Monday, Jan. 16 6 - 7 p.m. Talk to local college students about college. Learn more about what college life is like and the steps you need to take to go. Adults are welcome to participate.
POKÉMON CRAFT NIGHT (Teens) Monday, Jan. 23 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Make neat crafts inspired by Pokémon characters. All supplies will be provided. BLACK HISTORY MOVIE NIGHT (Teens) Monday, Feb. 6 5 - 6:30 p.m. In recognition of Black History Month come out and watch the film “Our Friend Martin,” an animated movie about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Light refreshments will be served. BOOK CHARACTER CUPCAKE WARS (Teens) Monday, Feb. 20 5 - 6:30 p.m. Enjoy a friendly competition decorating cupcakes inspired by selected book characters. We’ll provide the goodies, and you’ll be faced with the challenge of using only certain decorations within the time limit to create the best book character cupcake you can! TEEN GIRLS ROCK – GIRL TALK! (Teens) Wednesday, Feb. 22 5 - 6:30 p.m. Parents don’t understand? Boy troubles? Fashion no no’s or go go’s? Teen girls you have the opportunity to talk about teen girl issues while enjoying an evening of learning, etiquette, fashion tips and pampering.
