Br ag tow n Li brar y THE SPIN-MAN Monday, Jun. 13 10:30 - 11:15 a.m. Come and be amazed by the one and only Spin-Man as he demonstrates twirling, spinning, whizzing basketballs. *THE FOLKLORE WRITING PROJECT (Grades 5-8) Monday - Friday, Jun. 20 - 24 10 a.m. - 12 noon This week-long program, led by awardwinning author and former Piedmont Laureate for Literature, Zelda Lockhart, will explore folk tales and fables from around the world. Youth will then create their own stories to answer unsolved mysteries and unexplained phenomena.

TOOLS OF THE (SCIENTIFIC) TRADE Friday, Jun. 10 4 - 5 p.m. Join us for a hands-on program where participants will learn about and work with a variety of measuring tools used every day by scientists around the world. From graduated cylinders to micro-pipettes, meter sticks to digital calipers, and bucket balances to digital scientific scales, participants will complete a variety of activities as they explore the process of choosing the right tools for an experiment. DROP IN TUTORING Mondays, Jun. 13 - Aug. 8 5 - 6 p.m. Just because it is summer, doesn’t mean reading practice has to stop! Teen tutors will be on hand to help students with reading. There will also be book talks and reading activities to celebrate Summer Reading. RAISE YOUR VOICE Thursdays, Jun. 16 - Aug. 11 6 - 7 p.m. Raise Your VOICE is a poetry and spoken word workshop for teens, tweens and young adults. Join us as we welcome professionals in the community to teach us how to write and perform original works. The program will feature performances from members of local slam teams as well as poetry organizations. We will publish an anthology of the poems and will perform them at the end of the program!
MAKE N TAKE WITH THE SCRAP EXCHANGE Saturday, Jun. 18 1 - 3 p.m. Make N Take is an eco-friendly, creative arts activity for people of all ages! Teens will be able to create using Scrap Exchange’s fascinating collection of materials: fabric, cardboard tubes, floppy disks and other clean industrial discards. Unleash your creativity and imagination to make rocket ships, costumes, robots, sculptures and more. Everyone will leave with a fantastic project of their own invention.
