Flourish Jessica Marie Moy Wong
All of the patterns made in this swatchbook are compilations of individual, hand-painted watercolor motifs. The patterns study the movement and growth of flowers as well as the versatility between the different elements. The inspiration for these motifs is the interest I found in how beautiful ornate designs can be comprised by nature alone. Because of this, I wanted to emphasize the feeling of freshness and romance in all of the patterns.

Paper folding
I chose to do paper folding for my 3-dimentional application because I felt that the fragility and texture of the paper well fit the mood of my water color pieces. Paper is easily ripped and teared, and creases very easily, giving a delicate aesthetic to every folded flower. Choosing to create flowers made sense because they are representative of the motifs. Also, tbe rounded forms created from the folds display the patterns differently than on a flat surface.
