Rationale The sky overcasts, the atmosphere solemn and moody, it is the time of the month again where the gates of hell are open. Hungry spirits start to flock to offerrings and accepting food that are “burnt� for them. Through the wild flames, through the darkness during the night, that is how and when they consumed their food. I took on the slighlty quirkier approach to display their offerings. I picked on an old time favourite snack, something that the nether world and the living world appreciates, a link between both worlds - Ice Gem Biscuits. Using pop colors to represent the current living world with the combination of scanned images of other offerings such as dripping wax and paper offerings as textures on the bicuit to represent the nether world. An offerring that links both worlds togther, different representations that gives this whole artwork a twist to a solemn event. It starts off at the top with a dark world, and as the spirits slowly enjoy and consume their food, it transforms into a world of colors. And there will be a point in time where their food will be left with crumbs.
