hello
Welcome to the first new-look issue of DV8 Oxford. We have been very busy over the last few months giving DV8 a makeover. We think it looks even better than before and we are confident that it will bring you even more of the content that you want to see! We hope you love the new layout and look, we always want to hear your feedback so keep it coming in to oxford@dv8oxford.co.uk. Aside from all the creative stuff, the team has also been very busy going out in and around Oxford, with lots of great events to attend (check out our shenanigans section to see our photos) including a very fun night at Wahoo involving a hot tub! We hope you enjoyed the summer, it was a little bit of a mixed bag in terms of weather, but one of the highlights for us was the Olympics, in fact, we were hooked! So much so, that we headed over to Abingdon Sports to get kitted out to do a little bit of exercise ourselves. Check out our feature on them on page 30.
October, as always, looks to be a hectic month. Not only are there the usual Halloween parties to look forward to, there is also a very special launch party for The Big Bang restaurant which has relocated to the Castle Quarter. If you are stuck for dinner plans this month, then you must check this out! We caught up with Max from The Big Bang to talk about what to expect from his new venture (page 32).
Also October is the final run up to this year’s Oxford Fashion Week, with catwalk shows promising to be bigger and better than ever before. We can’t wait! Model castings are going on throughout the month and, as part of the lead up, we have had a look behind the scenes of this years event on page 30. We hope you have a thrilling October! DV8 Oxford Team.

DV8 HOTLIST
THUMBS UP... Finding an ace new cocktail We are normally pretty loyal to our fave cocktail (Long Island Ice Tea anyone?!) But we still love finding something completely new that makes us go 'yummm!' Dancing Just dancing.. After a long hard week where everythings not gone your way, dancing is the best remedy to make your worries fly away. This also works if you've had a great week too.
XFactor Okay, maybe it's not cool anymore to look forward to seeing Gary Barlow's face every Saturday night, but it's such a winning formula - bad singers demoralising themselves on stage just to get a hug from Gary... It's golden TV! iPhone 5 All you Apple fans out there have been counting down the days until the next generation of everyones favourite phone is released. We hope some of you were quicker of the mark than us! Being on the waiting list sucks.
THUMBS DOWN... Brag statuses on FB Of course your boyfriend/girlfriend is really hot, and your brand new car is simply amazing & most importantly we’re dead chuffed you got that tax rebate. Stop publicising your good news to us, it’s starting to look smug. Losing your phone/keys How are you running this late and now you can’t find your keys? And why have you lost your phone just as you’ve run out of battery? AHH!
Tripping up in public when you’re on your own Do you just carry on and walk it off? Or is it best to just laugh and not look around? We think the best way is to skip off and pretend it’s part of your stride!

SUMMER TOWN WINE CAFE
We are really sad to say that one of our favourite cafe/bars has shut its doors. The Summertown Wine Cafe was a firm favourite with us here at DV8, whether it was an afterwork drink, an accessible go at wine tasting, or perhaps a place to have 'work' meetings (we think the setting of the venue is great for being productive). We loved the laid back atmosphere, fantastic drinks selection, not to mention the happy hour! We would like to give a big shout out and thank you to one of Oxford finest establishments, you will be sorely missed.

Ultimate Picture Palce With its single screen and vintage look, the Ultimate Picture Palace is a great place to get nostalgic for the golden age of cinema. Located in the heart of Cowley Road it is easily found and ideal for watching the latest releases, or for taking a step back in time to watch a classic film. We were delighted to hear that it has recently had a refit, which should add an extra bit of enjoyment to the movie-going experience. So we’re going to get ourselves a bucket of popcorn, a tasty snack and we will see you there!

Oxford Beer Festival
Oxford Town Hall will be hosting the 15th Annual Oxford Beer Festival between 11 and 13 October as part of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA). Head over to the town hall and treat yourself to one (or more) of 160 real ales, real ciders and perrys as part of a festival that always proves popular. Admission to all of this costs only £2 on the door (free to card-carrying CAMRA members). We’re already planning how we’re going to spend our beer tokens, indeed the most difficult question we have to ask ourselves each year is, ‘where to start?’.

NELLY HIGH HEEL TOUR @
When July’s Guest Editor Sally told us about the Nelly High Heel’s tour coming to Oxford we knew it was going to be a night to remember! Nelly.com is a Swedish fashion brand (we’d compare it to ASOS) making its UK launch this summer and bringing a tour like nothing else to a town near you (especially if you’re a shoe addict)! We were also excited to give 5 pairs of VIP tickets to DV8 readers and we’d seen loads of commotion on facebook that week as the girls of Oxford tried to secure their place by entering our exclusive comp – we hope the winners had an ace night! Hosted at Camera nightclub on Friday 13th July we knew the party was going to be a good one and not unlucky at all! The event promised to bring glamour, fashion and freebies to our lives! The first 150 guests received a choice of a FREE pair of shoes from the beautiful range showcased in glass cases around the club; we didn’t know how to begin to make our choice! There were high heels in all different shapes and styles (and a lot of glitter!), from the lower more office appropriate option to the very high studded disco option that you would definitely have to get a taxi in! The Sinome in 08 | DV8OXFORD.CO.UK
black was amazing, we swear that heel was as long as our arm, you might just have to stay propped up at the bar when you’re out in those! We also loved the Gabriella flats made of suede and with a studded front, you could definitely fight away the crowds on the morning commute in those babies! Competitions ran throughout the night including a Onesie competition where you had to do a creative pose in a onesie with your mates for the chance of winning one of the luxurious onesie’s (bought to you by OnePiece). The place was heaving with glamorous girls excited by the launch and the chat of which shoes would arrive on their doorstep (you got a random pick from your top 3). We thank Nelly for an awesome night and inviting us and the DV8 readers to get involved in their amazing launch. We are excited to follow their fashion and promotions and we urge you to check out their online store at www.nelly.com/uk. If you want to stand out the crowd, Nelly is definitely for you!

THURSDAY @
We at DV8 were more than slightly excited when Thirst announced that it would be getting a revamp and we were eager to get down there and see the changes for ourselves. It has always been one of our favourite nightspots in Oxford and an ideal place to spend a leisurely hour, or indeed party right through until 3am. The refurbishment, which started a couple of months ago with the interior, has now been completed with a refining of the garden and a new cocktail menu! We met up with Hannah and Yaz who took a break from preparing for another big night to kindly give us an inside look into what we can look forward to. The feeling we got from them is definitely a sense of making what works well even better, as well as the more obvious sprucing up of the décor. From where we were sitting outside, reclining on comfortable seats, enjoying a brief moment of warmth at the end of the British summer, they have certainly done a fine job of maintaining Thirst’s unique character. For us, it is the New York-style urban garden as much as anything that sets Thirst apart from the other places in Oxford. It is ideal to sit outside earlier in the evening for a civilised drink as well as when things get more blurry later at night. A quick glance at the cocktail menu showed us that they have made an effort to broaden the range without losing those crowd-pleasing cocktails that we all like to see. One example jumped out at us as we worked our way down the page. For people who enjoy a Long Island
Iced Tea, there are now several further options to tempt you, including; Toyko Ice Tea; Polynesian Iced Tea; and a Boston Tea Party. And that is just the beginning of where the new menu goes. A cocktail that particularly caught our fancy is the Toffee Apple, which is a refreshing combination of Kraken rum; apple schnapps; butterscotch schnapps; apple puree; and toffee sauce. It lulls you in with a soft, sweet taste, before hitting you with a satisfying alcoholic edge. Hannah and Yaz both commented on how the people who work at Thirst are like a family and enjoy working together, and aim to reflect this in the experience for the people who spend time drinking there. The people who visit Thirst are as loyal as any others and indeed it is not unusual to bump into someone who drops by four or five times a week for a cheeky cocktail or two (or more). Finally, we asked them about what there is coming up for people visiting Thirst and they teased us with a number of exciting nights, including; a night for returning second year students - the ‘ReFreshers’; DJ Nights; a flairing bartending competition is promised really soon; and much more. So watch this space! After all this, it would be rude not to return to explore the new menu further and spend some more time sitting outside drinking cocktails on those comfy seats. So we may well see you there! 11 | DV8OXFORD.CO.UK

FASHION
FASHION WITH ETHICS
Poverty Sucks is an exclusive clothing boutique originating in Oxfordshire, selling quirky clothing that will make you stand out from the crowd. They describe themselves as ‘Slaves of Spontaneity, uniqueness and individuality.’ If you want to wear something a bit different and not like your usual high street attire, then this is definitely the label for you. We caught up with the man behind the brand, Daniel Warne to find out a little bit more about Poverty Sucks Clothing...
We were really excited to hear about Poverty Sucks Clothing, how has the launch been? The launch has been a long time coming, there is so much behind the scenes work to be done to get everything ready. But it has finally arrived and I couldn’t have asked for it to go any better, the clothing has been a sellout hit thanks to the support from friends, family and a feature ad in The Sun newspaper. Poverty Sucks clothing seems to tie up to two different worlds, what is the meaning behind the name? I already knew I wanted to be involved with a charity from the very begining, however the name just came to me while I was creating some designs for the first collection.
How long did it take from thinking up the idea to launching? What were the stages? I have always wanted to run my own business and fashion has always played a big part in
my life. So I could say it has taken years to get where I am today, however from the actual time I sat down and put together my business plan to the launch day it took around 12 months. The first stage was to research how I would actually go about starting a clothing label, from where to source the material from, to how I actually get my designs printed. I spent months and months researching everything i needed to know and again with help and support from people in the business I have finally got a grasp on how to create a successful clothing label.
Have you always been interested in fashion? What is your background? I have always been interested in all different kinds of fashion. I do not have any formal background in the fashion industry, however as a customer of so many different stores I have an eye for what is popular. Myself and co-creative designer Thomas Roberts also have a vivid kind of twisted imagination, hence the graphics for the first collection
You first collection contains some strong imagery, what was your inspiration behind them? I pretty much bounced ideas off of my creative designer Thomas Roberts and let him run wild with the first collection, and I think it has paid off. Thomas will also be a big part of the Autumn/Winter collection, he has been a huge influence and inspiration on Poverty Sucks and I would like to thank him for all of his support.
You must have been busy since the launch, have you got any events/shows coming up? Starting from scratch was extremely tough to try and get exposure and get my collection seen by everyone, however thanks to persistance and a feature ad in The Sun newspaper and a few different advertisements in things like the Abingdon and Witney College handbook the first collection has been a sell-out hit. I will be hosting a charity event in aid of comic relief in the near future, the venue and plans for this are yet to be confirmed, however follow us on Twitter to keep up to date @Povertysucks1. As we said, we loved the first collection, when is the second one out? What can we expect in the future? Thank you so much, the Autumn/Winter collection will be arriving by the end of November.
Personally speaking, what sort of fashion style do you like? I have so many different inspirations when it come to fashion. Just to name a few are, Pharrell Williams and David Beckham. One day I will wear fitted jeans and a top the next I may feel like wearing self created ripped-up shorts and a check shirt. www.povertysucks.bigcartel.com Find them on facebook: Poverty Sucks Clothing Company Follow them on Twitter: @Povertysucks1 DV8OXFORD.CO.UK | 13

GET SOME AIR
Bucket list time. There’s plenty of ‘air’ related activities and courses in close proximity to Oxford - here’s a selection of our favourites...
HOT AIR BALLOON TRIP
If you have the time and money, the ideal Hot Air Balloon trip has to be to go and watch the migration of Wildebeest on the Serengeti in Africa. If, however, you want to stay a little closer to home, the sheer invigoration of soaring across the Oxfordshire countryside is second to none. You will be on cloud 9 as the hot air balloon ascends to 1500 feet and the views that this presents will leave you breathless. It is a truly unbeatable experience, and the perfect way to celebrate that special occasion. Packages include champagne toast and a flight certificate! Balloons depart from various locations and flights start at a very reasonable price, and depending how many of you fancy going along, package deals can be bought.

PARACHUTE JUMP
Calling all adrenaline junkies! Why not have a go at skydiving by heading along to What a Jump, the premier first time specialists in Tandem Skydiving. Tandem means you’ll be connected via a harness to an instructor, so that minimum time needs to be taken up in instruction, and you get maximum reassurance for those of you who can get a bit nervous. Once you’ve managed to persuade yourself out of the plane, you can enjoy up to 40 seconds of freefall at terminal velocity whilst the instructor worries about the logistics. Or if you’re brave enough, have a go at Static Line Parachuting with Skyline. After you’ve taken the leap of faith, the static line mechanism will open the parachute automatically. You just need to pick a landing location!

PRIVATE PILOTS LICENCE (PPL)
This experience certainly doesn’t come cheap, costing £8370 to complete the full course, but if learning to fly has always been a dream of yours, Oxford International Airport can help you get there. In order to gain your license, you’ll have to complete 45 hours of flight time, pass 7 written ground examinations, complete an extensive solo cross-country flight, and successfully demonstrate your flying skills to an examiner during a flight test. This definitely isn’t your average weekend hobby, and a large financial commitment, so if you need a bit more convincing, have a go at one of the 30-minute Experience flights. They’re available 7 days a week and will set you back £95 for the opportunity to fly a light aircraft first hand. Or else go along to one of the free Learn to Fly Seminars, which are held twice a month at the Oxford Flying Club.

GLIDING COURSE
Oxford Gliding Club has provided week-long gliding courses for years now. Though these are primarily aimed at students and officer cadets, spare places are often available to the general public. The week-long course provides a concentrated learning experience where the student can devote themself to flying with minimum distraction. You will quickly gain the skills needed to pilot a glider, and a substantial number of students fly solo by the end of the week. As the week progresses you are expected to maintain records of your flying and to take some responsibility for the safety of your team glider. The courses consist of 21 aerotows to 2,000 feet, with a maximum of four students and two instructors to a glider.

HOT TUB PARTY @
Wahoo has always amazed us with the events they put on, not only are they unique, they always push the boundaries! When we heard that they were going to host a hot tub party, not only where we intrigued, we were raring to get our shorts and bikinis on and get wet and wild! It turned out that we were not the only ones who were excited about the prospect of taking a dunk on a night out! It was also a great (and one of the last) opportunities of the summer to show off the tans that people had worked on (if you had stayed in England all summer 16 | DV8OXFORD.CO.UK
then this wasn’t really the case!) Throughout the evening people ducked in and out of the hot tub, headed to the bar and danced the night away, making the most of the extended opening hours and fantastic drink prices. We had a really great time (maybe too much of a good time, we had a round of sore heads in the morning, well, afternoon when we woke up). The summer weather really sucked in England, but this brought us a little bit of summer fun!
of the way, nd maybe eads ).

DV8 COVERSHOOT
WORD S | IAIN MATTHEWS
It may only be in its second year, but the Face of DV8 cover photoshoot is already one of the highlights of our year here in the DV8 office. All through the voting process on facebook the excitement was building and on the big day we hurried over to Anne Veck’s salon in Bicester to see what the team would come up with this year.
I think it’s safe to say that I had forgotten the organisation that goes into putting together an event like this (I just turn up, write this stuff down and don’t question how everything happens around me). Right from the start the hair and make-up artists took up their positions and efficiently began creating the looks for the models. As with last year, each model would be wearing two different outfits, generously provided by Lenie’s Revival, which is based on St Clements in Oxford, as well as by Booty B. It always impresses me how the outfits were chosen for each model and then the hair and make-up created to complement each look. The models who generously gave up their Sunday to take part in the photoshoot were the lovely; Riminy; Madeleine; Miriam; Kirsty; Sarah; Amelia; and Lea. They were a pleasure to work with for the day and of course did a great job looking stunning in Norbert’s photos. One of the aims of the Face of DV8 competition is to give local models, or indeed those with no modelling experience, the chance to feature on the cover of a lifestyle magazine dedicated to Oxford. As a result, included in the group were; the current Miss Oxford; a former Miss Oxford; Miss England finalists; a wedding dress model; and someone
for whom this was their first experience in front of the camera. One thing that was clear to me was how easy going they all were and if
there were any nerves, they helped create a relaxed atmosphere which quickly eased them. Also, this was the first (and I suspect, the last) time that I will be taught how to complete a Rubik’s cube by a model just before they go in front of the camera, although I have now completely forgotten how to do it. Although everyone took their roles seriously, there was a party atmosphere in the salon, with music playing throughout the day and occasionally there was even some spontaneous salsa dancing. All this took place to a backdrop of popping flashing bulbs and bursts of conversations in French that I tried my best to follow, but it turns out I don’t understand as much French as I thought. I can ask the way to the train station no problem, however for some reason this didn’t come up so I couldn’t show off my skills. Occasionally, I ventured into the make-up room to see how Sheena and Sarah were
getting on with making sure that the models had the necessary high level of glam. The room was always a hive of activity with various brushes scattering the tables while the two make-up artists worked away, chatting to the models, making sure that they were comfortable with the look that was being created. One thing is for sure - the final result always made for a vibrant, impressive ensemble when paired with the outfits and hair combinations. There is nothing quite like seeing a hair extension hanging on a stand, indeed, it’s not something that I often see in my day-to-day existence. So, the first time I saw one out of the corner of my eye hanging there, my reaction was that a small animal had somehow got into the salon. However, once I had got over this, there was no denying the great job that Anne, Aneta, Ricardo, Emmanuel, Maria and Lucie did to make some quite stunning hairstyles that will certainly make for some sensational cover images for the magazine. Balmain hair extensions were used for the shoot, with Anne and her team singing their praises. They spoke highly of the versatility of the extensions, as well as commenting on the ease of use. For more information on Balmain’s range of products, visit their website (http://www.balmainhair.com/) So, what is the verdict on our second Face of DV8 cover photoshoot? Having spoken to the people who took part, I think it was a resounding success and we will have some fantastic photos to go on the cover of the magazine. I’m glad that I’m not the person who has to choose between them, as they all could be used. Finally, we would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who took part in the day and we’re already looking forward to similar events in the future!

ANNE VECK HAIR
Spring Summer ‘13 shows saw the fashion darlings making hair raising discoveries and setting high standards when it came to hair trends. Fabulous up-do’s dominated the catwalks at Marc Jacobs who’s models strutted around revealing 60’s inspired voluminous ponytails, Marchesa introduced a touch of romance with plaits and twists flowing through elegant creations and Donna Karen stepped over to the wild side creating stunning dishevelled up-do’s. Who is better to reflect and emphasise this current beauty trend than Anne Veck of renowned Anne Veck salons, Oxfordshire. Drawing her inspiration from Spring Summer ’13 collections, Anne Veck gives tips on how to turn heads at Oxford Fashion Week. ‘My favourite looks by far were structured Oscar De La Renta beehives embracing the old school allure which is regularly sported by red carpet regulars Dianne Kruger and Adele. I think Spring Summer’ 13 will be the season of Hollywood glamour with a hint of bohemian chic where bigdressed up styles with plaits and twists will dominate. Party hair will get an extra flourish with a revival of traditional hairdressing techniques from finger waves and French pleats to beehives and towering up dos. These are the looks that will raise your style stakes at Oxford Fashion Week’. Anne is a huge fan of Oxford Fashion Week and is very supportive of local talent, always wanting to give back to her local community and contribute creatively.
She offers hair styling tips and pointers on how to recreate the key looks turning heads at this much anticipated event. ‘One of my favourite stars who shows off the trend gracefully has to be Lana Del Rey. She makes big beautiful, getting her look is not hard if the right tools are used. Having worked with Balmain Hair as their Ambassador since 2011, I guarantee, where length or volume is missing, hair extensions do the trick. Balmain hair is a perfect way to add that extra vigour fully embracing Lana’s iconic look, which I would polish up with a range of Matrix products’. Being the leading lady of the beauty industry, Anne knows hair, and can be seen implementing the trend in her own Avant-Garde inspired collection – the Valkyries, where she lets her creativity escape into hair craft, fashioning the most inspiring hairstyles within the hair industry.

FITNESS
Did the summer leave you wanting to take up some sports? Then the first thing you will need to do is get kitted out....
When it comes to getting involved in sporting activity, the DV8 office is split into three main groups of people. Firstly those who love sports (and are good at them!), you will find them always up for a game of tennis or football. Second, are those who go to the gym, not out of any real love for physical activity, but they know their next holiday is around the corner and want to look hot on the beach. And the third group of people really only enjoy watching sports (probably in the pub!). Despite this, we like to think this summer has changed all of our attitudes. We really felt inspired to participate in more sports by the fantastic performance of Team GB at the Olympics. That's when we realised that we needed to find ourselves a sports shop up to the challenge of being able to kit us out. We headed over to Abingdon Sports in Abingdon where we knew we would be in good hands. It is headed up by Michael Samways, who has an impressive 43 years in the industry supplying discerning customers
sporting goods with a personal touch. Trust us, if you are looking for some new sporting clothes or equipment, it is essential you spend time with experts in order to get the right combination for you, because buying trainers is a bit more complicated than just choosing ones you like the colour of. Abingdon Sports is well equipped to help anyone out regardless of their sporting ability, ranging from technical gear including rugby armour, boots etc. all the way through to FitFlops (with that all important wobble board, including some very glitzy looking designs). Of course they also stock everything in-between and we were particularly taken by some long and short sleeved t’s that would be great for spinning. For us, Abingdon Sports is the first place to go if you are looking for some new sporting gear, and need to get help and advice to ensure you get the most out of your chosen sport. FOOD NEWS
THE BIG BANG
Everyones favourite sausage-teer is back. After moving from the trendy neighborhood of Jericho, the new Big Bang restaurant can be found in the up-market Castle Complex.
The Big Bang is the true gastronomic experience of Oxford. They source everything from within 20 miles of the city and in doing so, allow you to taste the real flavour of Oxford, not a chain restaurant imitation of it. They also throw in the best local art and live music, all served up in one of Oxford's prettiest corners with more than a touch of Oxford charm. with the man in charge, Max Mason!
Opening at the beginning of October, we caught up
Tell us what you have been up to since the Big Bang in Jericho closed? It has been a long story, we were supposed to have a 4 month tenancy in Jericho, which started back in 2004 and that lasted for 8 years! Since the restaurant closed last September I have been having a well earned rest. I have used the time to look around restaurants in London and further afield to try and steal some of the best ideas and bring them back to Oxford. So I am home bearing bounty.
What sort of ideas have you brought back with you? So, things like the design of the restaurant, sharing platters, big bowls full of shepherds pie or lamb cobbler. I also learned that people love the British brand. I will be encouraging people to go out for a British rather than an Indian or a Chinese.
So the new Big Bang is here, it looks amazing, what should we be expecting? A little bit of the same as before, but with a hell of a lot of added polish! We have tried to retain the things we loved about the old place and add a lot more. If you imagine all your favorite British dishes, we will be serving it.. Shepherds pie, roast dinners, BBQ’s the works!

What is your favourite British dish? I love a cream tea and I love a roast… We of course will be doing both!
Will we be seeing a return to the Jazz evenings? Yes, in fact now we are part of the Oxford Castle Quarter we are starting in mid-October with the Discover the Quarter Jazz night.
So, we understand that you are working with OCVC College to give younger people a chance to gain some hands on experience as part of their course, can you tell us more? It will be fantastic trying to bring along 16 to 19 year old students who are incredibly keen and talented. I want to follow in the footsteps of Oliver, Ramsey. Not only will they be manning the kitchen, but also the restaurant. All forty students will be working here throughout the academic year!
You have your launch party this weekend, which we are very excited about! I have decided that Oxford Castle needs to be reclaimed for the people of Oxford. It has been a bit neglected over the last few years. It’s beautiful and has great infrastructure. With the Big Bang here, it will have a soulful heart! What events have you got coming up? Christmas will be crazy for parties, we also have Hogtoberfest coming up, check out the website for more details soon.
What is the secret behind the perfect mashed potato? Cook it in the oven… Leave the skin on to bake all the delicious flavor in, take it out and then scoop them out, add a little butter/milk if you want… Absolutely delicious!

THE DV8 GUIDE TO DINING AND NIGHTLIFE Sitting amongst the myriad of other dining distractions that Cowley Road boasts, Atomic Burger is a unique dining experience.
ATOMIC BURGER
Once you enter you will see why, essentially inside the décor is part of the fun, a throwback to the eighties, where toys and posters of all your favourite ‘icons’ like the A-Team hang from the ceiling and wall. At the back of the restaurant a screen runs 80’s music videos and movie and TV trailers, it’s all about the nostalgia.
At Atomic Burger you can eat a beef, veggie or chicken burger served at least 14 different ways; such as ‘Dead Elvis’ style, with Swiss cheese, American cheese, bacon and onions or even ‘Boris Karloff’, with your choice of toppings cooked Frankenstein style. Fancy a Forrest Gump burger, how about a Dolly Parton, or Johnny Cash, each is served with a free side order of fries, salad, or onion rings. DV8’s favourite side were the ‘Sci fries’ (Garlic and Chilli).
If burgers aren’t your thing, they also serve hotdogs and smoky ribs, perhaps washed down with a sugar puff milkshake or a ‘flaming atomic’ margarita? Oh did we mention you can also have Mr Whippy for desert, how cool is that! This ‘blast from the past’ retro styled burger joint offers ‘the best burgers in town’. Prices range from £6-£8.50 including a drink for a main, DV8 highly recommends a visit. 01865 790855 www.atomicburger.co.uk

PARTING SHOT
SOCIALITE Sharnie Louise, 19, From Oxford.
Tell us about your outfit tonight? My outfit tonight was from a high street retailer! I love dresses but now it is getting a little colder I am opting for something a little warmer! How would you describe ‘Oxford style’? Oxford style’s a bit sexy and fun I think. What your going to wear depends where you’re going for a night out. What is your favourite item in your wardrobe something you’ll never part with? I’ll never part from anything in my wardrobe. I love it all!
What is your greatest indulgence in your fashion life? My greatest fashion indulgence is my shoes, you can never have enough pairs!
I stay in shape by? The only bit of exercise I do is when I'm in town dancing. I love partying at Lola Lo’s and The Bridge, you'll always see me in one of them. I like all the new dance stuff but will dance to anything. I’m always up for having a laugh. Favourite feature? My favourite features are my legs and smile! Go-to beauty brand? My go to beauty brand is Clarins Beauty secret? Hmm well that would be telling!
Best beauty advice ever given to me? I did a clarins make up course last year. They give you really good tips on how to apply all sorts of make up so I'd suggest going to a clarins counter for tips.
