Sale brought to you by the Illinois Shorthorn Association I would like to take this opportunity to invite everyone back for the 3rd Annual Midwest Shorthorn Spectacular. As I am sure most of you have heard, we have decided to make a positive move forward with an already extremely successful sale, and offer this outstanding set of cattle in conjunction with the Illinois Beef Expo in Springfield. It is our feeling as a board that this move will benefit everyone and give a greater opportunity to enjoy good Shorthorn cattle and fellowship. Additionally, the consignors have assembled an excellent set of show heifers, bred females, and select herd sire prospects for your appraisal while also bringing you a true sale highlight with the dispersal of Terry Steinhour’s embryo bank of outstanding genetics. I would also like to extend an invitation for all Shorthorn breeders to plan to attend our 2010 Annual Shorthorn Banquet. This event will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, February 26th in the Illini Auditorium of the 4-H Junior Building on the State Fairgrounds. This event will give us all a great opportunity to catch up with old friends, establish new relationships, and build on an already outstanding state organization. Items on the agenda include election of new board members, Builder of the Breed nominations, Illinois jackpot steer entries, and updates on Illinois Junior Shorthorn news. Please RSVP for the banquet by emailing Larry Wilson at lww@illinois.edu or by calling myself at 217-246-1912. As always if you need any assistance or have any questions, feel free to contact myself or any member of the sale staff. We look forward to seeing you in Springfield for a great Shorthorn weekend! Sincerely, Wes Wise, president Illinois Shorthorn Association

We deliberated long and hard before consigning Silver Rose Farm 915 to this sale. She’s hard to let go, but we truly wanted to bring you our best. Many of you will remember her mother, GCF Silver Rose, who was breed champion 19 times, including the 2007 Illinois State Fair. She was also Supreme Champion 14 times, including the DuQuoin State Fair. Silver Rose 915 exhibits the same show ring look as her mother. CCS Visa 16V puts it all together. He is what we hoped for Don Cagwin when we purchased the outcross Canadian National Calf Champion Bull, Visa’s Tucker. Visa 16V is a very fault-free, exceptionally sound herd sire that is powerful enough to lead any herd into a positive future. Cheerful 7RD55 is an outstanding cow-she raised 16V at 13 years of age and is a deep ribbed, easy fleshing, eye appealing female with an ideal udder the kind you would be proud of to be the dam of your herd bull. BW: 84 lbs. TH/PHA Free.

Here is a pedigree packed with the breed’s greatest, Cunia, Wright Cattle Co. Carmele, Rodeo Drive, Gold Rose, Equity, Lucky Charm, Trump and Mattis 530. Most all legends of the breed. Yukon is the right color to produce those pretty red neck roan calves out of your red cows and the showy blue roans out of your black cows. This bull would never leave the farm if we didn’t already own the factory and so many other half sisters and cousins. BW: 90 lbs.

For those who knew Terry, you know he spent a great deal of time studying pedigrees and the genetic makeup of cattle. This collection of embryos offered is a result of that study. These genetics represent the bloodlines Terry wanted in his cows. Only because of Terry’s untimely death are these embryos available for sale today. ~Phyllis Steinhour
