elcome to the 2016 edition of The Royal Edge! Our consignors are dedicated to making the buyer happy. We know there are many options when it comes to making your purchases, so our focus is not only providing a good selection, but customer service, before and after the sale. We would love to help you market the progeny of your purchases and would be interested in buying the heifer calves back for future sales, or you may consign them back to future Royal Edge sales. Now back to the consignments, there’s a strong focus on Simmental and Sim-Angus genetics in this sale, and that is the focus of every program in the Royal Edge. We differentiate ourselves in that we bring you our best each and every year, electing to bring you our top lots and not consign them to National sales. It is cliché and popular to say each and every year that this is the best set of cattle we’ve offered to date, but I can look you in the eye and tell you just that. You too will believe when you see this set of cattle. We’re deeper in terms of the top end cattle this year, whether that be open heifers or bred heifers. This set will impress the most discriminating cattle evaluator. Many lots trace back to renowned donor dams and popular sires of today and yesteryear. If you like the pictures, you will love the cattle when you evaluate them sale week. If you’re unable to attend, watch the videos and call the consignors or sale management, we will shoot you straight and stand behind what we tell you. We are excited about this set of cattle! We encourage your attendance at the beautiful and climate controlled Hansen Center on the Iowa State campus and expect as good of a post sale celebration experience as there is anywhere, with refreshments, great food, and entertainment. As our motto states: “Where families unite, friendships begin and breed-leading genetics are sold.” Looking forward to seeing and hearing from you January 2nd! Sincerely, Willie Morris and the Royal Edge Group

I have to rant on these Vindications, a member of the famed She’s So Sweet tribe, with a $40k dam and $160k granddam. He is honestly the best breeding bull I’ve used to date. Bulls or heifers, I’ve been thrilled. They are so good structured, soft, and I assure you, there’s not a PB sire that sires anywhere close the shag Vindication does. In a world where a ridiculous Index is being shoved down our throats, Vindication holds his own respectable number, yet brings to the table immeasurable traits those of us who like to look at our cattle will appreciate. This heifer is the first of many to come in the future of these Vindication’s, and you can see why. It’s hard to make Simmental like this. Moderate in frame, perfect structured, stout, crazy haired, and pretty as can be. Backed by a great Emblazon daughter. She will show with the best of them, but is destined to generate serious coin as a donor for a progressive program. This kind is what the Sim-Angus craze is all about! 1/2 Simmental REG #2995875 BD: 2/10/2015 SIRE: TJSC Vindication DAM: Koupal Band Maid 6159

Vindication does it again! Awesome profiled, crazy haired, stout, plenty of flex on all four corners, and that loose spine Vindication stamps them with. Will make some noise in the show ring.

A really good Vindication heifer, as is the theme with these Vindication’s, she’s great bodied, real good fronted, and structured with an abundance of great hair. The right kind, whether you wish to continue the Simmi route, go club calf, or just damn good cattle.

Another Vindication that exhibits why we’re so excited about him. Can you say hair? Chubby made, cool necked half-bloods are all the rage, as there’s an abundance of bulls to mate them to. Beyond that, this gal exhibits tremendous shape, depth of body, and is sound as can be. This one will be fun to show off on weekends this show season.

Vindication is well on his way to stardom. With his first small sample offering in this sale, you can see the promise he presents. The product of a great mother who commanded $40k and a $160k valuation granddam, the great She’s So Sweet. This sire has just begun to fill out his resume.

I wanted to offer a Fat Butt heifer to remind us all why Fat Butt became popular in the first place. On Angus cows, Fat Butt flat gets it done. This girl is so stout, great boned, elegant fronted and excellent haired to boot. Will be fun to show, then get her started making moolah! Fat Butt daughters are out producing themselves as cows. We should have used Lookout earlier on Pretty Woman, the now deceased dam of the great Fat Butt bull. This gal is something special. A surefire donor that brings everything to the table including instant street cred, with Pretty Woman as her mama. A tank, with more frame than you’d expect from a Lookout, yet great centered and hearted, upheaded, and plenty stout. Tough to poke a hole in this future donor. Brilliance has been a standout since day one and continues to impress us throughout her development. When we combined our two favorite Simmental cow families, Black Glitter and Expecting a Dream into one genetic package, we hoped it was the recipe for a future donor. Brilliance’s combination of balance, depth of body, and structural correctness make her a unique breeding piece that has impressed breeders, including Steve Reimer who selected her as a class winner this summer at the Iowa State Fair, the largest Simmental show ever held. * Selling 1/2 embryo interest.

In her short career, she has produced $200,000 in embryo & progeny sales. She has calves that have sold for $16k, $14k, $13k, and so on. Her dam has exceeded the $300,000 lifetime earnings mark and Baby Doll is on her pace. Her sire, Combustible is making his mark in the Simmental industry. OFFERING:

10 UNITS of Vindication, Fat Butt, Maximus, No Remorse and Mama’s Boy WMCC

A local friend of ours, Amanda Bearman is suffering from cancer. She’s a fighting machine! While she’s suffered setback after setback, she’s shown incredible bravery and fights every day for her husband, Jim and sons, Wyatt (6) and Walker (2). This has hit home for us, as we’ve got a young family and take too much for granted. We’re offering this lot as a donation to hopefully alleviate even just a little financial burden involved in fighting this horrible disease that in some way affects us all. • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

In the fall of 2013, Amanda Bearman began having reoccurring sinus infections which specialists believed removing the tonsils would help. It did not, and over the next several months doctors tried to clear the infection with medications. In November 2014, Amanda began to have an unexplained soreness in her throat and also began to lose her voice. Doctors diagnosed her with Wegeners Granulamatosis, an inflammation of the blood vessels. She continued treatment for this through December without improvement. Doctors second guessed their diagnosis and Amanda was eventually diagnosed with MRSA and Extra Nodular NK/T-Cell nasal type lymphoma. It was decided that Amanda would undergo chemotherapy and radiation treatments. These treatments were difficult on Amanda, requiring her to be hospitalized and away from her husband and boys. Amanda’s family and friends rallied around her and assisted with making meals, spending the days with her in Rochester, watching the boys and taking care of other odds and ends. A benefit was held for her as well in early May. Despite all the love and support there were setbacks... a tracheotomy, feeding tube, pneumonia, staph infections, low counts, postponed treatments, and stays in the ICU. In September, doctors discovered that her trach area was again lined with lymphoma. They decided to stop treatments and reasses where to go at this point. 3 options were given: 1. Low dose radiation to prevent further growth 2. Experimental treatment 3. Go home, get comfotable, spend time with family. Amanda and her family traveled to Houston, TX and finally decided on experimental treatment. At this point, the treatment has shown to be effective with treating Amanda’s cancer. While it is not gone, it is definitely smaller. Each day is a gift to spend with friends and family. Way to go Amanda – we are so proud of you, your strength and courage!

This will then fulfill the obligation, and no further guarantees shall exist. All of the Embryos will be Grades 1 or 2. SEXED SEMEN: Sexed Semen is not 100% accurate; therefore the gender of a resulting offspring cannot and will not be guaranteed. In our experience the results are near 90%.
