Herd Health

All of the sale cattle will have health papers for interstate travel to any location within the United States. Bred females sell with a 21 day breeding guarantee following the sale. If any animals are found open within 21 days following the sale please notify Todd Butler at once for an adjustment to be made.

We would like to welcome each of you back to the farm for our 10th Annual Butler Farms Apple Harvest Production Sale. It’s hard to believe it’s been a decade since we started this sale and even harder to believe how fast time flies these days. Looking back at our past catalogs it’s pretty impressive to see how much the stock has changed over the years. This year comes as both a celebration as well as a remembrance of just how quickly time can escape each of us. Much like each of you there’s plenty to do around the farm and very rarely do we get the time to simply sit back on the porch and appreciate how blessed we all are to live and work in this industry. Late this summer at Butler Farms we got that quick wake up with the passing of Bill Butler. Bill lived for the farming lifestyle and the people he met as apart of this industry. Bill was truly one of a kind and will be very much missed as the years go on. This sale was one of Bill’s ideas to start and as we approach this year’s offering we do so in Bill’s honor.

As you read through this catalog and look over the videos online, we hope that you will find the cattle being presented to be of your liking. We look forward to showing them off to you in the flesh on sale weekend. After the sale is over, please note that we are more than happy to assist our buyers with mating decisions. The hardest challenge I had when it came to writing this footnote is where to begin. This is hands down the best High Percentage Simmental we have offered to date. JSUL REBA’S FANCY 8375F dominated her show career with Grand Champion Percentage Heifer at 2020 NJHS, and even Champion Bred and Owned female at the 2019 NJHS. When you evaluate this female you can’t help but to fall in love. 310L has tremendous body shape, extra eye appeal, and as sound as you could possibly make one. In this breed it’s difficult to achieve a long extended front 1/3 while not sacrificing depth of body. We did all the hard work, and now are offering this dominant donor prospect to you. Maternal sister to 310L was sold last fall through Pembrook Cattle Company for $50,000. As soon as this heifer hit the ground we purchased more full sib embryos because of how excited we were. Hara’s Hairietta needs no introduction. Some of the best show heifers for the past 10 years have been out of a Hairietta daughter, and it is not difficult to see why. These direct daughters are not easy to come across, and when they are it can be hard to obtain one. Maternal sibs have sold for 190K, 140K, and 88K. There is no question that this heifer is the definition of royalty. Even though 306L was a little greener on picture day than I would have preferred, it is still very easy to see all the right this heifer possesses. To be honest her perfect baldy head is enough to bring a few extra bids. We picked up these embryos when Heart Felt Farms had there dispersal sale in 2021. In that sale their was a full sib to this heifer that we fell in love with. We pulled the trigger on that set and boy are we glad. This heifer is the definition of a show heifer. She is flat out shaggy haired along with all the flash of her markings. The color catches your eye but then you start to notice all of her other attributes. This female is super soft in her hind leg and exceptionally built all around. While scrolling through sales one night, I came across a sale that sparked my interest. Brennan Kolega and his partners were having a bred female sale “The Limited” that night so I decided to take a look. I came across this female and looking at the picture above I’m sure you can see why I fell in love with her. Last year she raised one of the top steers in the sale, and I knew right then she needed to be put in the donor pen. I had a hard time deciding how to flush her, but I think I made an excellent choice. Class On Class has sired some of the top heifers for Jason Minnaert in Illinois. Plus, in my travels to jackpot shows, there has been some breathtaking steers sired by him as well. I wanted a bull that no matter the sex you would have rewarding progeny. Class On Class is that bull for me hands down. On the bull side you go back to Minnaert’s absolute staple in his donor pen, JSC Katie 5S. On the dam side you go back to Schaeffer’s Who Dat Girl 118C. Lizzo has all the pieces I strive to find in a female. This year is the 10th Annual Apple Harvest Production Sale. Unfortunately this July we lost the most influential man I have ever met. With farming as our profession, we had to continue moving forward with daily operations to keep Butler Farms seamlessly running. As you can imagine there are times and situations that really draw you back and remind you of all the great memories. Bill Butler lived a great 93 years, and he spent his last day working in the field doing what he loved to do.

The amount of advice he shared with me over the years has without a doubt shaped me into the man I am today. I’ve learned so much about orchards, cattle, and simply life from the talks we had. For the past 9 sales I would clip calves before picture week, and hunt him down to get his opinion. He would always say “They sure have changed since I showed 100 years ago.” It would always put a smile on my face. These moments are something I will hold dear for the rest of my life. If I could see you one last time, I would tell you this. You took me in from a young age and always treated me like your own. I have to thank you for the man I am today. We may not have been blood, but you were and will always be my grandfather.
