Experience Italy Like No One Else
At first glance, the beauty of Italy, which is timeless, bustling, and historic, will feel like it’s right out of a travel magazine. But this pilgrimage will give you an experience that’s so much deeper than that—it’s an experience of renewal that will help you anchor your life in faith and hope. Let’s start with your visit to the epicenter of it all— Vatican City. As you explore the must-see sights, you’ll be filled with a sense of awe. There’s no place in the world like St. Peter’s Square, The Sistine Chapel, the tombs of great saints, and the Vatican Museums. From Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica, to a papal audience, to the best Caffè Cappuccino in the world, this pilgrimage will leave you changed…and it’s just the beginning. Later, you’ll find yourself in the homeland of St. Francis and St. Clare. It’s easy to spend a whole day wandering the narrow streets of Assisi, discovering the Medieval beauty of this ancient city. There’s no better place to dive deep into the incredible faith of these great saints, deepening your own relationship with God as you go. As you explore all that Italy has to offer, you’ll have opportunities for Mass and prayer, plus the renewal and relaxation that comes along with world-class accommodations and incredible Italian cuisine! 1 2 • I TA LY

A Journey to Encounter Miracles There’s nothing quite like Fatima, Lourdes, and Ávila. With a long history of miracles, stories of incredible Marian apparitions, and a deep history with the saints, it’s obvious what gives these locations their appeal—and keeps pilgrims visiting year after year. You’ll start in Portugal—the humble beginnings of St. Anthony and the center of the Fatima apparitions. Pray at the site of the Marian apparition that changed the lives of three shepherd children…and millions of faithful across the world. Be inspired as you visit the tombs St. Francisco, St. Jacinta, and Sister Lucia—the visionaries whose memory lives on almost a century later. Once in Spain, you’ll discover the world of St. Teresa of Ávila—where she lived, wrote, and heard the voice of God. Celebrate Mass at her monastery and catch a glimpse of her incorruptible heart and arm—something that will deepen your love for the saint and your faith! On your last stop, you’ll experience the miracle of Lourdes, spending two days nestled in the Pyrenees Mountains. There will be opportunities to explore and pray in a place where Mary stood. For those who are a little more adventurous, you can drink from the healing waters or spend time soaking in the healing baths at Lourdes. Fatima, Lourdes, and Ávila might look like any other place in Europe, but there’s no denying the way this pilgrimage will change every part of your life. 2 0 • FAT I M A , LO U R D E S , ÁV I L A

Follow the Footsteps of St. James
The path of El Camino de Santiago winds across the Spanish countryside, through woods, hills, and rugged terrain. Pilgrims trek most of this on foot— just like the millions before them, all the way back to the Middle Ages. To all appearances, the trail might feel slightly threatening, but the well-worn path speaks to the joy, peace, and faith that every pilgrim seeks—and finds— on their way to the shrine of St. James. Starting at Foncebadon, you’ll pass “The Iron Cross,” where pilgrims traditionally leave a small rock to represent the sin or the burden that they leave behind. With every town you pass through, you will be drawn closer to saints who have walked the same path before you, including St. Francis and St. John Paul II! While you can expect to walk between 10 and 20 miles per day, you’re very free to make the trip your own. A van or small bus will also be driving parallel to the path you walk each day. Should you need a break or assistance, it will be readily available to you at multiple checkpoints along your path. Covering a span of many miles on foot is not for the faint of heart, but the reward is great! 3 6 • E L C A M I N O D E S A N T I AG O

A LETTER FROM
Matthew Kelly Life is a pilgrimage, but sometimes you need a pilgrimage to discover life. For almost thirty years we have been hosting pilgrimages to the Holy Land; Fatima and Lourdes; Italy; the Camino; and more. On the opening night, we always ask the pilgrims the same question: Are you going to be a pilgrim or are you going to be a tourist? Tourists want everything to go exactly as planned. They rush from one place to another trying to cram everything in. They focus on themselves, often shoving past others to get where they want to go. Tourists go sightseeing. Tourists count the cost. Pilgrims are very different. They look for signs and ask, “What is God trying to say to me?” Pilgrims are not concerned with seeing and doing everything, just the things they feel called to see and do. They are aware of the needs of others. Pilgrims go looking for meaning. Pilgrims count their blessings. We all fall into the trap of living like tourists in our daily lives. But the reality is we are all pilgrims. This planet we call earth is not our home; we are just passing through. God did not create us for the fleeting happiness and momentary pleasures of this world. He created us for lasting happiness in a changing world and eternal happiness with him in heaven. So let me ask you: are you living as a tourist or a pilgrim? Is it time to step back from who you are, where you are, and what you are doing to reconnect with yourself and God? Very often, people make pilgrimages with special intentions in mind: to ask God for a favor, to find healing, to thank God for a blessing, to celebrate a wedding anniversary, to discern a decision. No matter what challenges or opportunities you are facing, a pilgrimage can help you gain a new perspective, find clarity, and experience peace. Join us on a pilgrimage and discover life anew.

A Pilgrim’s Prayer by Thomas Merton My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end... Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think I am following Your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please You does in fact please You. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this, You will lead me by the right road, though I may know nothing about it. Therefore I will trust You always though I may seem lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for You are ever with me, and You will never leave me to face my perils alone. Amen.
