Faerûn is a diverse realm, with a lot of different races, religions and languages that surprisingly are not configured within the default system. The Waterdeep Trading Company is all about being inclusive, so In order to be culturally sensitive we will spend a little time setting up some of the additional cultural items within Dynamics 365. That will ensure that we don’t make mistakes like sending invoices to the High Elves in Faerûn Common English, or marketing to a Halfling for a Dwarven marketing campaign.

Preface I have been reviving an old project that started a while ago and has started up a new project blog to track the progress. Being a lifelong fan of Dungeons & Dragons, with the unfortunate problem that I cannot find anyone to play with I have decided to create a test implementation Dynamics 365 in the AD&D format just to see how it would work and if I can find some creative ways to use Dynamics 365 and chose to implement the Waterdeep Trading Company as an example where I can track their many legal (and not so legal) entities within Faerûn.

Opening the ISO Language Codes table To do this we will want to open up the Language Codes table within the system and add in the new languages.

How to do it… Step 1: Access URL and Append &mi=SysTableBrowser&TableName=Langu ageTable

Then we will want to use the System Table Browser function to view all the records in the Language Table table.

We will start off by accessing the URL bar within our browser where we will be able to see the website that we are pointing to in order to access Dynamics 365.

To do this, we will just add &mi=SysTableBrowser&TableName=Language Table to URL for Dynamics 365.

This will open up the table browser, and we will see all of the default Language codes and the ISO code for them.

How to do it… Step 1: Click on the New button

To do this, we will just need to change the LanguageId value.

We will start off by creating a new Language Code record to the table.

This time, we will want to set the LanguageId to fae-cm.

To do this, all we need to do is click on the New button.

Step 3: Click on the Save button

Step 2: Update the LanguageId

Then we can save the language code, and it will be given a unique Record ID and version.

This will allow us to add our new Faerûnian ISO language code.

Adding new Faerûn Language Codes Now that we are within the Languages maintenance form we can go ahead and add our new languages for Faerûn.

How to do it… Step 1: Click on the New button

For this example, we will want to set the Language to fae-cm.

We will start off by adding a new Language Code record into the system.

Step 3: Click on the Save button

To do this, all we need to do is click on the New button.

Then we can save the new language. To do this, all we need to do is click on the Save button.

Step 2: Update the Language

Notice that it adds a Language name automatically. Unfortunately, we cannot change that name here.

Next, we will give our new language a Faerûnian ISO language code. To do this, we will just need to change the Language value.

Filtering the Language Codes As we add more language codes, we may want just to see the ones that are specific to Faerûn. We can do that by filtering the list of languages.

How to do it… Step 1: Update the Search

This time, we will want to set the Search to fae.

To do this, we can just use the Filter box to select the language subset that we want to see.

This will show us a filtered view of the languages with just the Faerûnian ISO Languages.

To do this just update the Search value.
