TO WHOM THIS MAY CONCERN: Abraham Lincoln stated, “The best thing about the future is that it comes only one day at a time.” Well…. I do not know about Lincoln’s days, but he obviously did not foresee a rapidly increasing technology‐based future where one must be two days ahead for success. Therefore, I believe my future began yesterday, setting my goals for today to achieve my successes for tomorrow. Passionate. Dedicated. Motivated. Intelligent. Creative. Innovative. My name is Allie Marie Toothman, and I am currently living in Charlotte, NC. As of May 2010, I graduated from Southern Illinois University’s Speech Communication and Art programs, focusing my studies in Public Relations and Communication Design. Furthermore, I have a double minor in Marketing and Art History, and a background in research, advertising and journalism, as well as photography, which contributes to my development as a well‐rounded professional. My passion and dedication to these studies drove my ambition to become more involved with various organizations. I was an active member of Southern Illinois University’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapter, PRSSA Executive Board, Pyramid PR, Unleashed Magazine, and the American Advertising Foundation (AAF). I held the position of Creative Director within PRSSA’s Executive Board, as well as the Committee Head for PRSSA’s Publicity committee. Furthermore, I won the award for creating the new Unleashed Magazine logo, which led to the honor of holding the Creative Director‐in‐ Chief position where I constructed and oversaw the creative aspects of the magazine’s overall print and website decisions. All visual aspects of Unleashed Magazine were completely created by me. In addition to my educational qualifications, I have work experience at JCW Marketing in management, high profile client campaigns, traveling, business‐to‐business, independent work, money management, and much more. Furthermore, I designed a new website for the SIU Foundation, as well as created and developed a new PR campaign plan to expand the Foundation’s awareness among SIU students. I also worked as a summer Marketing/PR intern for River Radio’s CIL‐FM, where I researched, developed, lead and executed an event plan for each CIL‐FM event. Additionally, I worked as a Graphic Artist for Shryock Auditorium. There, I handled all advertisements, posters, websites, brochures, and newsletters. My background also includes serving as team leader for the creation and development of the Welborn Outreach Program website and the Mt. Carmel, IL city website. Like most leaders, I had to organize the structure of the websites and make sure everyone was completing the tasks on time. Simply through my experiences and never missing a deadline, I have developed my sense of creativity, leadership, professionalism, research, organization, responsibility, and communication necessary for success in my future career. Aesop Rock states, "Look, I have never had a dream in my life because a dream is what you want to do, but still have not pursued. I knew what I wanted and did it till it was done. Therefore, I have been the dream that I wanted to be since day one." Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you.
